  • He looks like Huggy Bear.

  • damn , i was just about to finish

  • Hey man what`s your style!!! Love this Song!

  • Lou smokes with admirable enthusiasm in this clip...

  • aww gimmie some more

  • Funny, how some bands need ten truckloads of equipment to give away a fascinating show. This guy thrills me to the bone, just smoking that cigarette in his jeans and shirt, standing there shaking his hips, singing these lyrics, moaning, groaning...

  • thanks youtube and maybetonight

  • Anyone know were i can get some kicks

  • Such good old times!!

  • Bowie tried to be like Lou, not the other way around...

Just watch a documentary on the subject. David was fascinated with Reed and his music/performance.

  • Great album, one of his best. This is my favourite track.

  • anybody know where i can view the full performance?

  • Hey, Lisa, thanks for the kicks

    WOW-WE

    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • Lou was one the of the most original acts of the 70's, fuck off if you don't like him or think he copies Bowie.

  • @elo333333333 ......yeah Bowie copied him!

  • hahahahahh LOVE IT!!!!

  • @Ferran975 B-but, but s/he just needs some k-k-k-kicks, r-right?

  • this has remained for years probably the coolest thing i've ever seen.

  • Killer version. Love the studio version it seriously is a great song from a great album.

  • pure skillz!!

  • Sounds a lot like "Spill that wine" by Eric Burdon and War.

  • @alexlancer11 Agreed

  • Smoking on stage? That is so un-PC.

  • he s so high

  • Great documentary on Lou. Wish I knew what concert this came from. Awesome take on the album version, which is also great.

  • son of sam its the whole social depravity and nyc's ominus ablity to sway one murderous wayswith all of life temptations like drugs sure like drugs like sex who don't have needs exploited by propagandistic pushers of estacys, what is that makes us kill our selves ,getting closer to God,failure of one's dweams, chemicals comunicating without our knowlege,i like blue lighting and masks,it can intensify by taking away outside interferances, extending my benifits!

  • 1:26 gives me chills

  • Ah, how I wish this was the whole thing.

    ffg5j5

    yes

  • thats music with sex!!! coooool

  • Well, it is kind of a violent, but it's the kind of violence that certain deviants truly enjoy. I'm sure liked a little hurt with his pleasure, after all, some people have peculiar tastes.

  • dont mok violence til u put a bat thru an animlz head, just a thoery nig

  • new wave TVs

  • I love those TV's in the background.

  • I've always loved this song by Lou Reed, and this is a great video. But honestly, I do find the violence of "Kicks" a bit disturbing. Then again, that's the great thing about Lou - he covers the whole gamut of human experience in his solo and Velvet work, from the most sublime and spiritual right down to the darkest of the dark.

  • absolutley right the entire gamut.....but violence ids pretty much most of that..if u a man that is

  • GREAT !!!

  • Anyone have the full version of this song?

  • wicked album and I love this live video. Where or where is this from and where can I buy a copy??!! It's the best version of Kicks ever!

  • Not one to go by critics' choice, I have to say that Coney Island Baby is my favorite Lou Reed album. The sound of it is so special. That lounge-rock vibe of 70s New York.

  • @PlseScowlMore .....Yeah compare 'Coney Island Baby' to the 'Street Hassle' album...Lou is a genius...I

  • Jazz combined with rock'n' roll and this is what you get. A Rock "n" Roll Heart!

Lou, with every ounce throbing to the beat. He's in tune. In tune with our hearts, minds, souls. Lou's in tune with our time and your time.

  • how does one get that?

  • lou eres un master

  • is there a way to get the rest of the video?

  • coney island baby is an amazing album!!!!

i can't believe people can't possibly enjoy it!!! wow. something new everyday. it's great. all about him and Rachel. tis spot on, love it. it's full of love.

    highly recommended

  • gotta agree with ya jonny. One of his best - if you can cut the ties from the "old" Lou, Coney Island Baby will reward you every time. The title track is a killer for me. Like a baby.

  • This is an excellent song (especially the live version!) from an otherwise uninteresting album. Big ups to Berlin and his first one -- Velvet's rehash.

  • coney island sucks from what ive heard,

  • It's not as good as The Blue Mask, but Kicks makes it worth its money anyway.

  • xplein or i report

  • This song should be the national anthem to someplace.

  • haha Indeed.

  • Cool Jazzy direction he's got there ;).

  • dont really like it

  • great song!

  • kicks just keeping getting harder to find....

  • Better kill them now

    Better kill him now, now

Yeah, yeah, yeah, kill him now, now

    cause I need kicks

    I need some kicks

  • he s high.... u can really tell if u done it before..

  • Fuck yeah!

  • clip is awesome ! and painfully short

  • i remember first seeing this clip on the rock and roll heart documentary late night at my parents house and being blown away by it. watching it over and over - its still possibly the coolest 'thing' i've ever seen

  • Smoking is cool

  • Thanks for posting this!!!

  • I was actually taken to the London Hammersmith gig of this tour which I think was at the end of 1975 (still got the programme!)- and i remember this song, it was fantastic. I remember also someone in the audience making funny noises and Lou Lou refused to sing and went and sat on the drum kit podium. He said something like he had all night and didn't really care- definitely all went teacher-class; just like in school! But still a great concert, great guitar player, had a semi Lou had sg

  • Lou inventing Talking Heads in this perfomance, what a great and strange singer he is

we need it again without the guitar!.

do somebody knows how to get the original of this vid?

    great band too

  • man thats the sht

  • We have really left the the 70ths when you hear a song about a man killing someone with a knife just for fun - and all you discuss is the tobacco in the singer´s mouth! - My God, Lou. take me back!!

  • kick me lou, that would be cool

  • smoking isnt cool

  • smoking isnt cool and smoking is cool

    know what i mean?

  • chill out man i actualy do smoke. its not cool lol

  • so cool

    artists like him

    makes me feel alive

  • and i sing along with him..."cos´i need kicks, ...you´re killing na na na...you´re killing , cuz i need kicks, i need some kicks"..

  • ---wow this Dude is so dope and this live version of kicks comparing to the album verson, is so cool as well----

  • Fucking legendary.

  • Man I really love him :-)

  • the best songtext in the universe!!!!!!!

  • waaagghhhh1!! 1 sarasasasa

  • i didn't know this song from lou...it's awesome

  • what i apprecaite most aboue his works other than its hidden sophistication is the meaning behind the songs. quite a poet.

  • sounds waaaay better than that stuff when he had the dyed blonde hair from 74. the band sounds way better too. im glad he made some good music in the 70s.

  • get the live-lp from 78 (?) - 'Take no prisoners' and listen

  • best part is in the middle of sweet jane he goes off on barbara streisand.

    Fuck Barbara Streisand!

  • "i want to thank you all little people..." (if I remember correct)

  • yeah.lol.....

the first time i heard that record i did not like it,Lou talked way too much. But now i love it.The guy is just something else.

  • cool

  • Lou Reed in 1976 was writing the only songs there were, about REALITY, in the world I was living in at that point in time, back in Boston. I mean, I watched a guy get beaten to death in the street, late in December-- and some guy walked by and said "Well MERRY CHRISTMAS!" Someone else remarked that if you get murdered, it won;t even make the newspaper, unless it happens up on Beacon Hill.

  • "ancientwestonian: its so sad to look at him. hes missing his teeth and hes all scrony"

What the hell are you watching?

  • yeah hes still got em all or most

  • such a junkie... great man tho.. i need some k-k-k-kicks! who doesn't

  • Lou looks beautiful in this.

  • It happens at 1:26

  • I love when he tosses his cigarette into the crowd.

  • i didnt see it. you sure. that seems like something hed do.

  • reminds me of my buddy jeff

  • i need some kicks , so well said, i adore him!!!!

  • Cool stuff, thanks for posting this.

  • Genius...

  • true XD

  • Hey Chaz, do a search on "n'sync", I'm sure you'll find everything you like there. I have Sweet Jane as my ringtone on my cell. Lou Rocks!

  • Are you a complete asshole? Lou Reed is the true rock and roll master!

  • you can don't like Lou REED but you can't tell he has no talent. I think you don't know what is the talent...

  • I saw him in Holland in 1976. He was in great shape and his performance was very good

  • and i sing along with my hero..."cos´i need kicks, ...you´re killimg na na na..."..man i just adore this dude...he´s a wonderfull artist..i just love him,

  • anyone know where to get this version on cd? it's different from the record

  • may be on the cd named "perfect night: live in london"

  • Not at all! A perfect night live in London was recorded in the 90s and showed a totally different Reed. This video obviously was recorded in the 70s.

  • wasn't he blonde in the 70s?

  • Only in 1974

  • its off the album 'coney island baby'.

  • this version isn't on coney island baby amigo.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,great song,

  • Peppergomez99, could you please explain to me in which way this performance might specifically underline your argument? Isn't the fact that this song is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from his VU material a proof of the opposite of your argument?

  • know what you mean, but think you're kind of wrong.love lou reed.sort of know what you mean, though.

  • look up cool...........lou reed

  • god damn hes good, my first time to see lou.

    is he still alive?

  • YES. he is

    saw him on june 20

  • yep, and still as good as ever

  • year no mistakes,hi´s cool

  • grande lou!!!!

  • lou reed,sei grande!!!!!

  • i adore this album, sad it's so underrated

  • Although Lou was in his period of losing it all, this was a great performance. No one can give such a tension to such a simple song. Later on he found his way back to the real Rock 'n' Roll. Thank God!

  • This is a great version of Kicks. And these days, Lou would be crucified for smoking on stage. There's no longer any respect for the sacred bond between the cigarette and the artist.

  • If you're not here to talk about Lou Reed...then fuck off, cunt.

  • I really like "Coney Island", it's an underrated record.

  • I LOVE "CONEY ISLAND, BABY"...and if you know that he had a lover who was a transvestite when he did this album (Rachel and Lou was together for 3 years) a lot of songs make more sense...for instance "Crazy feeling"....

You should have stayed gay Lou...he he...it suited you better...

  • Yeah

  • dig it! I need some KICKS!

  • No one plays like this now...What has happened to rock'n'roll? Why has it lost its intelectual/revolutionary character?

  • the job got done, now it's rich fuckers sending out faeces

  • Well put...and very true (unfortunatelly...)

  • I think it happens to every musical form. It gets old, stale, and dies. Then a decade later, it's resurrected as something else under another name.

  • uh ah how do you get your adrenaline flowin, brother ah ah I love it I love this video, cause i need Kicks, Brother i deed some .Thx again for postin!!!!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. this is a little speeded up version of the original (kicks/coney island Baby)baby..aaaru fuck it ..fuck! cause i need some kicks..this is so cool, never thought that i would see this on camera. that is so great.THX for POSTING!!!

  • THIS is the SHIT. Period. One of his best all-time songs. Right in the middle of his speed period and he's fuckin' on it. Sassy as fuck. It doesn't get any better than this. "Hey man, what's your style? How do you get your adrenaline flowin'?"

  • lou was still in his speed period ¿¿¿

no iron cross short cut ,

    best wishes from peru

  • "I need KICKS" Great song and great performance.

  • Lou rocks, but I have to admit this song doesn't at all (first time I hear it) and this is an awful performance

  • yeah, ive been searching a long time for the complete video or complete concert. anybody got a hint?

  • waa je connaisssai t pas!! c genial!!

  • hey man, what's your style ...?

  • One of Lou's best.

  • That was really amazing to see. Lou was so fantastic in the 70's. I think the lifestyle got to him, and it was so encouraging to see him recover. When Keith Moon gave up drink, Pete Townshend remarked how they needed the old Keith. You know, go out and kill youself or get lost. I think Lou Reed is very smart to change. Don't worry duckies, Lou still has classic stuff in store for us, you can count on that! And, I wasn't trying to put down Pete Townshend, I love him to death!!! Great Clip!!!!

  • I saw that tour in London in 1977 .k\Kicks was the highlight of the concert. The rest was nothing special with all that sax crap on.But this version is even better I wonder if the us tour in 76 was still ok.After that I saw Lou's almost every tour & apart for NY & Drella he just aint be himself anymore>I mean He's become a boring old auntie.I hope this coming "Berlin" thing will make me change my opinion..Hummmm.

  • Im looking forward to the "berlinthing" as well - besides from that i dont agree - the 2003 tour was fantastic, and the 2004 tour in Europe was just as good

  • I live down the street from Nelson Slater. Him and Lou Reed were roomates for a year up at Syracuse. If you find any video of Lou and Nelson from 1975, please let me know as I am sure Nelson would love to see it.

  • I never heard on any video of them together.Do Nelson knows of any duet with him?

  • I remember Lou Reed sang "Complete This Story Now" on this tour, the only time I can remember him doing a cover.

  • Great performance! Tho I agree it sucks that it cuts out just when he's going off the chain..waah. lou reed is the poet laureate of New York City.

  • Great Lou!!!

  • Lou Reed is a bad motherfucker.

  • ive got to agree

  • fuckin better than the coney island version!
