i liked descent until the campaign expansion came out. i just felt it got more hardcore than necessary, more rule intensive, and something about fun is lost in the endless complexity. rules for rules sake, as they say. we still play it though, just not campaign style.
I love the campaign. You say that there are a ton of new rules, but that's only because of all the new content. There's so much more both the heroes and the overlord can do in the campaign, and reading about twenty pages of rules and explanations was completely worth it to me.
I prefer the campaign. I don't know where you're finding this endless complexity. It's all pretty simple, really, after you play a game-week and read the book.
@brendanisdead Yes, this was with road to legend and altar of despair. Road to legend is a campaign expansion, so it is not as obvious in this video. Is there something you were thinking about?
