Pearls before swine... I also think FGTH were too hard on themselves regarding 'Liverpool'... I hope the original recording of this great live performance still exists, somewhere!
@ sansana : well...you have Mark o'toole the bass player....then you have Brian nash on Lead guitar and the other guitarist in question is Ged o'toole who is Mark o'tooles brother.
Ged o,toole was only in the band when they played live...they are originally a 5 piece as you should know..but when re-producing that perfect sound needed they had the extra keyboard player and an extra guitarist. AWESOME LIVE.
bumped into Mark o'toole last week in fort lauderdale, Florida last week..what a very nice polite man he is..! he,s not up is own arse like most pop stars are.!!! good one mark.
Very cool to hear an album cut like "Lunar Bay" - hearing it live supports Holly's claim that the production on "Liverpool" hindered its success. Notice how funky Nasher's guitar is here and you don't hear it at all on the album version!
Great song, one of my favourites from 1986. I remember this on TV. It was on the short running music show "The Tube". Show was hosted by Jules Holland and the late Paula Yates.
You lucky 'bastard' you, LOL! I'm jealous, so jealous, LOL LOL LOL!!! Of course, i knew FGTH for 'Relax' among others, but i discovered 'Lunar Bay' not long ago! Fabulous beat, great music! Too bad Holly Johnson refused to join the group again! Oh, well...
Wow! This sent shivers down my spine. I have never seen FGTH so raw and live before. Perfect. Rage Hard is my second favourite Frankie song of all time. (Pleasure Dome bieng my fave).
Holly Johnson! that voice man! wow , everything about him !!he made all the other pop singers sound like telly tubbies. haha . y know what i mean! just kiddin about. I do wish he would tour again.
My fantasies fulfilled.

Indeed !
Just a bit too ahead of its time.
Even now, this futuristic sound (thanx to Holly's taste for Russian constructivism)
And though I ama not gay, I find Holly's having a great class and is a terribly underrated singer.

Who's that playing the keyboards? Not Trevor Horn?
tomstickland 4 years ago
Stephen lipson I believe.
The guy who produced Liverpool in the absence of Horn.
Incidentally one of the issues that led to the breakdown of Holly's relationship with Horn/ZTT.
blackcelebration1983 4 years ago
The Keyboard player is Peter Oxendale, he played with them on both Frankie tours in the mid 80's.
