@HigherThanEarth He's making an analogy. A cistern is something that contains water. If you let it drip, presumably you will run out of water. If, therefore, your wife is "garrulous," it is supposed to be analogous to that somehow. Sirach is often thought of as "sexist" for some of the statements it makes. I still maintain that things in the Bible (and the Apocrypha) are parabolic and that the "wife" in general means the laity, just as the "husband" represents Church or Synagogue Leadership.
I've got an entire library on tape right now. I intend, Lord willing, to get them ALL up soon. I'm on vacation this week, so I'm going to try to get as much up as Possible. The Book of Enoch is next!
