This album is so much better than the last two from Tristania, still not their best. Good songs but others are not that good. Mariangela is a great replacement. Vibeke an Morten were awesome but they are gone, get over it.
Personally, i actually like this more the their previous stuff (which was still pretty epic), i just like the more orchetral/opera/symphonic elements. they sort of remind me of sirenia mixed with kamelot now haha. TRISTANIA IS TRISTANIA, no matter what genre =)
They lost that supreme Gothic sound, but I really liked "Rubicon." So they've changed, but at least it's nice to know they haven't sold out or lost their originality. Besides, maybe they want to break away from that 'Gothic metal' veneer.

The Year of the Rat sounds better than most songs on the latest two Tristania albums, I don't know why people are saying Tristania died with Mary ... Ashes and Illumination were overall bad albums, even there was the "holy" Vibeke ;)

This is worlds apart from the old Tristania I first knew but is definitely something fresh and good I can't wait for! I'll probably miss the old style but Mary seems awesome enough to take my breath away:)
I was always a huge Vibeke fan, but I commend the fact that the same deep commitment to quality is still present in the band. It isn't the same band in my eyes, but it is still one of the best bands out there either way and well worth my money. Finish that album already!!! Haha.

I definitely prefer old Tristania (Widow's Weed's, Beyond the Veil, etc.), but I am so surprised at how good this new album sounds. I love Vibeke, but Ashes (besides Cure) and Illumination really didn't do anything for me. I was really skeptical about Mary after hearing her voice on the old songs, but I think Tristania may still have a chance.
Awesome Taster! I loved the violin on "The Passing"... Mary's Voice fits so good into the new songs! Oh please guys release this album not to late, because i can't wait to hear it... ;D

I am realIy trying to be open minded here, but I still cannot come over the fact that this is the same band that have created so many beautiful masterpieces over the years and then after all the wait they come up with this crap.. They have completely fucked their whole reputation up as gothic metal gods with this album.. Where is the emotion and sadness, where is the obscurity & where the hell is Osten's low vocals.. they should have at least given him a bigger part, since Vibeke is gone..

I definitely prefer old Tristania (Widow's Weed's, Beyond the Veil, etc.), but I am so surprised at how good this new album sounds. I love Vibeke, but Ashes (besides Cure) and Illumination really didn't do anything for me. I was really skeptical about Mary after hearing her voice on the old songs, but I think Tristania may still have a chance.

Great songs, still got the obscure and gothic feeling like before and still awesome now with Mary voice.
