Great song, never heard it before. It's ironic that the Crickets have a song called "Deborah," but more importantly, this song bares a lot of similarities to "My Little Girl" by them as well (as previous posters have pointed out). Then again, "My Little Girl" was inspired by "Sheila" by Tommy Roe, which was inspired by "Peggy Sue" by the Crickets (with Buddy Holly). Figure THAT out!
One of DE's best singles. Too bad this didn't get more airplay. Sort of a cross between Buddy Holley and the Everly Brothers with the extra bonus of Dave Edmunds' guitar. The naked guy with wings on the label looks suspiciously like Robert Plant.
dave has spent so much just rockin' and i've never heard about heavy parties and drugs and this just shows how much he loves what his skill says.the first time i heard his MAM lp i saw the best guitarist that ever lived-i hope he had a chance to meet Les Paul
@nomiclas I think maybe Dave did have a heavy-party period. I saw him in a horrible morning-after state following a night of hanging out (drinkin'-druggin') with Jake Riviera & Nick Lowe while on tour with Elvis & the Attractions in '78. He looked really unhappy. I think he straightened up after that, but god! the poor guy looked skint.
The MAM LP is totally classic. It got played on the local underground/hippie radio station in '71 and I've been a Dave fan ever since.
@smokeemonkee you are very fortunate.no one or anything can make me not respect DE.so now i say we've all had a few rough mornings.i just wish i could get to a venue to see him.thanks for the response and it must have been nice!
