It isn't that he doesn't appreciate his more quirky guests (otherwise, why would he have them back?) but when someone has difficulty keeping the viewers entertained on their own, whether it be a lack of charisma or just not being on the same page, it's Letterman's job to keep the audience laughing.

Both the Late Show and Late Night introduced national television to some of the most credible artists of all time. Close minded? Nope. Asshole? Yes. Why?
