@chileanrockerx sorry señor puto... You obviously misunderstood me. If Thom or Jonny jumped off a cliff I would be the first to follow... In my country we've got something called irony, a term you seem to be unfamiliar with.
I saw them in Copenhagen 06 - best experience ever!
Cálmate por favor and be glad that God loves his children yeah!
LOL did anyone notice that jonny was feeling mad confident towards the end when he was solo-ing? lol, he puts the kaoss padd down when he noticed he coudlnt take it with him to talk to the drummer! lol. hes funny. 1,000 dollars to whoever can objectively tell me what he asked the drummer...ITS EASY!!!
If you listen to them you would understand each of Radioheads members has a very important part in the sound of it all. Not one member could exist without the other without compromise.
@bobdobslob Really? I always thought Ed was kinda expendable. Plus, you get the feeling that he really doesn't like the whole experimenting with electronic music thing.
@harish1105 I can understand the not really loving the whole electronic experimentation thing but do give the man some credit. He did write the street spirit riff after all.
i dont know if there will be an after, they are so amazing and constantlky changing their sound, idk if theyll run out of ideas, the only thing to worry about is split
@justinorville they won't =) They been together for more than 3/4 of their lives. Bands only split so they can become more famous, and they get back together after about 5 years for more fame. Radiohead aren't like that. Radiohead are Radiohead and they will be radiohead.
Not to argue, its sampled and looped, but it isn't just "left on auto," johnny greenwood is compiling the samples in real time with a korg kaoss pad. If you've never used one, play with one ASAP, they are awesome :)
He is pretty amazing. He did the score for the movie "There Will be Blood" it one a couple of awards for it's unique style and it's just so crazy. Johnny Greenwood is a true genius.
Haven't thought about this gig in a while. Beck's puppet show, Japanese insanity with Deerhoof, then Radiohead playing the best gig I've still seen in my life to this day
Your clip catches one of the best moments of the entire thing. Good on ye :)
i saw them playingthat song live .. Not in a video , but tonight and it was awesome !! Jonny's hair turn me on when it goes all over the place - and that song is impecable !!
ok phils not a bad drummer he is not a exalent drummer either. he has his own style and his happens to be very boring. and he definatly contributes to radiohead and hes good for them.
did i ever say he was? im pretty sure i didnt. and if u think im lying when i say they kid around that he cant play drums im more than happy to post links. and the fills in that song arnt mind blowing sir. tasteful? yes, but nothing that would put him compared to others. his skill level is an important part of the band that doesnt flant skill but contributes to the music. <--- and thats what makes a good drummer
i dunno... hes really under-rated. he is some howover shadowed by genric guitar players that have n style of there own. jonny on the other hand is so out-of-the-ordinary you would think people woud be crawling all over this stuff
You both missed my point entirely. What I was saying is that is Phil is a tasteful, musical drummer, against, say Lars Ulrich, who is a very technical drummer. Jonny is a tasteful, creative guitarist, against Zakk Wylde. Phil gets rap for not being a good drummer because he can't play like Lars, but Jonny gets none EVEN THOUGH he can't shred like Zakk.
Exactly. Listen to the Pyramid SOng. Listen to Videotape live - that drum part is so intricate - try to figure out the pattern and drum along - it's extremely difficult - and the part is so so effective.
Wolf At The Door too, what about Exit Music. - His standard beats are verrrry simplistic (Karma Police, Creep) etc. but often goes really well beyond that
with reference to the "best drummer". what makes a good drummer? I say someone who can hold and control multiple beats. Phil does this - so whats the fuss? People seem to get fast and busy confused with talent.
I don't agree. I own a copy of Radiohead live at the Eurockeens in Belfort, France and what Ed is doing is using his sampler to feed Thom's voice through and cuts it up while Jonny uses his Kaoss Pad to make the voice samples higher pitched, delayed, etc. I would say each other's roles are complimentary. But yeah, without what Ed does, Jonny couldn't do it. (The title should be Ed and Jonny take control or something).
that's the usual way they do EEIRP nowadays, nothing spectacular about it... "Jonny turns the place upside-down with some mental beats and some crazy hand waving action" wow....
thom wasnt leaving. they do this all the time. jonny has a korg kaoss pad which he does live samples on. when they close with eiirp, everyone walks off except jonny and he fucks around with the kaoss pad.
that was a pretty sick mix, i gotta say
