Judas Priest, Queensryche, Megadeth and Prince (yeah, i like Prince). Man, it was crazy. My two favorite metal bands (Judas and Megadeth), a band i like so much (Queensryche), and an artist i have a lot of respect (Prince).
When they replaced the old drummer with Scott Travis it was the best thing they ever did. It took the band to the next level. The old dude could have never played the Painkiller CD let alone the song. Plus he makes all the old songs sound MORE METAL.
show is excellent, very well played, bass is actually very audible. but here's my issue with the concert, the setlist is weak and it forces KK to play his first solo after half of the show. he's pretty relegated to a rhythmic player, while he's an amazing soloist.
@blindcynic Yeah, that pissed me off too when I first watched that show... Actually, the whole Painkiller tour era 1990-1991 was pretty much the same... Sad for KK because he is my fav ! Anyway awesome show !
@1251wire From Tipton's diary: "I'll never forget the first time we played South America and played Rock in Rio. It was an incredible experience in every way. The people, the place, the event and I admit I got a bit carried away the night before the show and may have had a bit too much to drink. I hadn't quite recovered fully when we went on stage and its the only time I've ever been sick during a show." (...)
@1251wire (...) "Seeing footage of it now you'd never know how I felt and once the adrenaline kicked in it ended up being a wonderful show. (I did stop drinking for 6 months after that though!)."
só e saber q o brasil foi palco de um puta show como esse e ver um monte de gringo repercurtindo dá pra dizer: com certeza o rock in rio é a copa do mundo da musica e éssa marca é nossa!!!
i saw my fave band (Judas Priest) for the first time ever on july 16th for my 21st bday fucking dream come true!!! best night of my life halford was tight!
Did anyone notice around 17:26 Glenn Tipton's pick slept of his hand and fall on to the ground, and how smartly Halford actually sang those pinch harmonics which are actually in the solo. :)
Best fucking show i have enver seen. And they didnt play a single song from their best album, Defenders of the faith. That says everything about the class of Judas Priest!!
@mojjecson this is 1991 man, so what, this is only cuts from show. j p is the best metal show out there. and they are quitn. enjoy this u tube shit while u can. cuz im sure someone will put a stop to it....
This is the best live performance I have seen!!! I want to have this concert in my home collection! Coul you you tell me,please, where I can find it to download? I need it sooo badly!!!!
I can see what glenn meant when he said that he noticed some strange dancing from rob on this tour lol, also wasnt it this rock in rio when kk and glenn were throwing up at the side of the stage between songs cause they were so hungover?
Holy fuck..., this was a blast and Halford still on top..., but folks..., this is 20 long years ago. Although..., the present shows (without K.K.) were pretty good!! \m/\m/
Minha segunda banda favorita!

Dude, Halford is fire incarnate.
He is fire. He will never be this way again.
When I saw them on Defenders Of the Faith tour in 84 or 85 it was THE most powerful voice I heard, noting our opinions are relative of course.
