Question: If you are a group singer maybe you shouldn't eat beans or gassy foods for the sake of the backup singers & maybe the audience too! Those high notes could be volatile.
@tayfan2 was that a question? lol. not everyone gets gas from beans. Have you been talking to Tay? He asked me that final question. I generally don't cover it up; I just try to ease it out during a breath or something. lol. Things happen ; -- )
I don't really follow any rules like no eating or drinking. The only thing I find is that when I have allergies in the spring, if I drink milk I get phlegm. But usually I can eat, drink etc. and I'm fine. I think u are rite, it really is a very individual thing. U gotta try and see what works or doesn't for u personall! The biggest one I hear is don't eat dairy products before singing. But I never really have had much of an issue with them b4 singer. SANG BOY! Peace, Nat
Omg, Chocolate - particularly chocolate ice-cream DEFINATELY has an effect on my voice!!! However, food in general - as well as excercise/physical activity - tends to help my voice a lot more than it does hinder it
@bobitsuki now I've heard that hot tea of any kind is 'good' for the throat, so I don't know who said that. Ah well. I like tea before, during, and after.
I was born a stubborn child, and still am. Haha. I do things my way, or it just ain't gonna happen. So, the things people have said not to do before singing, I do it! Like eating, drinking milk and those sorts of things. Nothing really bothers me. As for a quirk, I cannot, absolutely cannot sing without having at least 10 minutes of chewing gum. Why? I haven't a clue, but I didn't have gum one day before I performed..and my voice was just awful, completely flat.
@BrittanyYoungxDuckie It's probably a mental thing by now, but my voice teacher used to tell me that Opera singers chew gum to loosen up there vocal chords. I guess it releases some tension in the throat.
The Chorus teach at my school has his students have last lunch so it doesn't affect their singing. I usually don't have trouble eating then singing as long as I take a drink of something first. I would like to ask, are there any things that really shouldn't be done before singing?
@robertantonnyc During the show not much, but after... I barely made it home without puking... I gave up on KFC a while after that, and I feel much better!

@pushupful Hi Buddy, How you been?
robertantonnyc 1 year ago
I'm always better off going in on an empty stomach. A couple sweet sweet teas (Southern sweet tea), maybe some gum, and I'm good...
I'm able to feel the song better that way...

@0girlwiththecamera0 maybe the citrus doesn't agree with your throat? I don't know anyone with that problem, but I'm sure you're not the only one.

is it true that you shouldn't drink anything with caffine before you sing?

@johnson2nasty It that like the boxer thing? You know they not supposed to have sex before they fight. I guess it relaxes the muscles too much.

@cracker27 I really don't know. Maybe don't hang yourself before singing? Every thing is different for every person's body.
