Every time a creature's size is squared, it's weight should be cubed. Those bugs would not be able to support their own weight on their thin legs.

Also, one reason bugs like that existed back during the age of the dinosaurs was that there was more oxygen in the atmosphere, which there isn't today.

Oh man, more classic goodness from Roger Corman. He is genius! Everything worked in this movie, in all cheesy goodness it IS a classic and pretty damn well directed too. This is well worth the watch. Beware the sting of the Queen Wasp!

Does anyone know whether this is a common trait with the Elstree releases and that DVD in particular or whether I might have unfortunately picked a one off. Wasp WOMAN is real "Old" school" storytelling.

At (7:00) ...yes ..that's 7 minuets

.... nothing happens except exposition.

Coming up on (15:00)the leading lady and all the minor players

are introduced and more exposition.

Coming up on (25:00) the leading man is introduced and more exposition. Coming up on (30:00) finally the plot thickens.

Coming up on (40:00) a little Waspy tension is added to the story.

I saw the old poster for this movie when I was teaching the original King Kong to my students and the movie posters that were used for marketing it. I began collecting 1950s horror posters that portrayed women as victims as a way of finding links between the 1930s Kong - so ahead of its time - and what came after World War II. Wasp Woman stood out because of the sexual innuendo in the posters - she mates and then kills - the ultimate Femme Fatale. Can't wait to watch it! Thanks.
