My Newfoundland used to do that exact same thing when he was a puppy. These types of breeds are natural swimmers and tend to take a swin anywhere they can. Beautiful Landseer btw!

As cute as he is, I think his behavior is both instinct and function. Obviously, I have no way of knowing where you live, but, in these wonderful United these dogs tend to "WARM"! Combine that with the instinct to be in the water...you get a pup that sits in his water bowl. In the interest of the floors, you might consider a water bottle instead...might check with the vet first though to make sure he can get sufficient water supply that way...then, I'd invest in an a LARGE outdoor "cement pond"!

What a beautiful dog! I love his attitude and your calm demeanor. I've been a professional dog handler for several years now and I think I should tell you that you shouldn't let him do this. I know that seems cruel or perhaps unreasonable, but it's unsanitary for him and can cause the water to become infected with various viral and bacterial diseases present in your dog's feces and in the environment he walks in on a daily basis. It's like drinking your bath water. Good luck!

Another possibility is his penis is bothering him. In both videos, he finishes with his backside in the water and stays that way.

i hope my comment gets many likes because its informational, but a Landseer is just a black and white fur colored newfoundland, these massive dogs are known for their amazing water skills and used as lifeguards. Which may explain this adorable puppy's likeness to water :)

@mermaidserenade Actually there are some genetic differences - in Europe Landseers are classed as a seperate breed. Even in the US, Landseers are generally bred 'back to black' at least every few generations in order to keep the Newfoundland traits (as they tend towards being slimmer/lighter framed otherwise). Gorgeous dogs though - my Landseer Oscar is a rockstar :)

My dog started doing that around that age. Because we lived in an apartment at the time we let him play in a partially filled bath tub. When we moved to a duplex we went to PetsMart and bought him a puppy pool. He LOVES it in the summer. You should buy the little guy his own pool to play in. =oD If I remember my breeds correctly Landseer Newfoundlands LOVE to swim.
