I agree. Joe Strummer was asked by the Clash's producer to sing clearly. He tried it for a time, but it wasn't a satisfying experience for him. He said "It took all the vinegar out" and mentioned reggae singers, and how sometimes the lyrics aren't comprehensible the first time the song is heard. So, I love the Clash, I can't understand what Joe Strummer is singing in every song, but I love the music.
