@Flipthatchicken321 Judging by the graphic card you're going to install you'll have all the power you need to run the game smoothly. The CPU may be a bit old in the architecture but I am sure it will handle the physics/etc greatly. Skyrim's small by game size so all you would need is around 6 gb of free space:)
@Flipthatchicken321 You will lost some speed but no, it will not decrease your performance heavily. Let's say you will be using around 75% of the graphic card's maximum power -- Oh and another thing, how large is your monitor resolution (As in width & height, example 1280x1024) ?
@AUStarScream emmm im not too sure but the maximum number of my resolution slider can go is 1440 by 900 pixel. but i usually leave it at 1280 by 960 for 'natural' look. any higher will distort the display.
@Flipthatchicken321 Won't have any problems then. I'm using the 450 as you know on the same resolution + you will have an even more powerful series of my card.
@ManoDoCacetegrande Yes you will -- you'll need to fiddle with the game's settings to get an appropriate frame rate.. try messing with the shadows mostly, and move the graphical sliders to the left till it runs smoothly.
@osmanlitorunu1990 I thinkyour missing something :P this is more CPU intense game, ok it uses 2 cores just like crisis, but it needs 2 to be operational, as i said iv tested AMD and a intel dual core, where there fine in outside areas, hit a town the PC nearly dies, a AMD single core does not stand a chance :/, get the game and play it you will see what i mean straight away ^.^
@osmanlitorunu1990 I hope so too but i doubt it dude :/ i just set my Intel QX9650 (Oc to 3.6 ghz) on it using one 1 core! got 21-25 fps in a town, bear in mind the core to core performance of this processor doubles a old AM2 processor core at 3 ghz ; ;, i wish you luck tho it uses 100% of 2 cores in towns so prepare for it to freeze up a little in a worse case scenario, look around for a cheap intel 1155 motherboard and a i3 2100 there cheap and VERY powerful
HD 6770, 1GB GDDR5 ; AMD Athlon II X3 455 ; ASUS M5A78L-M LX ; 4GB Kingston 1333MHz CL7 ; be quiet! 430W for 250 € . Have seen some videos, where people are playing skyrim on ultra with a cpu, which is worse than the amd athlon II x3 455
@osmanlitorunu1990 Or you can go for a i3 530 with a 1156 board, this option is the SAME cost as the AMD if not a lot less..... the diff between this and the i3 2100 isnt that much but it beats the x3, just trying to get you the best value for money, AMD are good but the i3 and i5s have made sure there ruling for value atm :/
@GodlyhankFfXI I compared the two CPU´s on this Homepage: cpubenchmark (dot) net/high_end_cpus.html
The i3 530 has 2.727 Points
The AMD II X3 455 has 2.990 Points so it is slightly better.
But the best reason to buy the AMD in my opinion, is the probability of making a quad core of it with unlocking. Then it becomes a "AMD Phenom II X4 B95" which has 3.753 Points =) Besides, I like AMD more than Intel xD
@osmanlitorunu1990 You cant unlock tht one mate its athlon not phenom 2 :/ and the i3 wins in everything else but that benchamark, my OC 9650 at 3.6 ghz is getting lower than the registered stock values on there, but beats the i7 920 at everything else lol
@osmanlitorunu1990 If you REALLY want AMD that badly (really cant see why mate tbh with ya) I reccomend a Phenom II x4 doesnt matter what one as long as you can afford it, there faster more efficient, and are the closest thing to a i5 or i7 you will get in games with intel man
@osmanlitorunu1990 If its gaming your doing most of the time tho i really do reccomend the i3 2100 1155 socket, the reason for this is, in most games iit honestly beats a 980 BE Phenom II x4 (dispite it being 3.7 ghz) it really is a beast amd were good a yr or 2 back but intel really have plowed ahead ; ;
@GodlyhankFfXI Hey mate, thx for your advice. You are right. I looked it up and everyone says that this one beats even AMD quad cores. Thx a lot for your advice. Which Mainboard would be optimal for this cpu?
@osmanlitorunu1990 What the 2100 i3? you can pick up VERY cheap H61 1155 socket boards easy Asus, gigabyte or msi get one of them 3 you will be laughing to gaming fps, for more powerful gaming boards look at the Z68 1155 socket boards they go from about £80 to 300+ lol... the H61 are 35-50 xD but there GPU slot boards, btw if you go for a 2100 dont worry about power too much if you have a 350 watt your fine with a 450 gts
@GodlyhankFfXI I think this one would be finde for the i3 2100: MSI H61MU-E35, H61.
But the mainboard and cpu costs 160 €, when i take the amd i just have to pay 100 € xD I think I will stick to the Amd, is cheaper and I think spending 60 € more ... is it worth it ?
@osmanlitorunu1990 for the i3 530 proly not, for the i3 2100, definatly.... dont forget any 1155 board can handle a 2500k processor (the quad core verson intel) plus if you shop a bit i guarentee you will find a board cheaper than that surely
@GodlyhankFfXI Its more for preperation for the future, when the 2100 in about 5 yrs xD isnt enough, you can pick a cheap i7 2600k up which is literally 2x faster!
@AUStarScream Any i3 or high level intel core 2 processor is good enough, or a AMD phenom II, lower gen core 2 duo and AMD athlon x64 dual are NOT good enough, i used a e6320 OC to 2.8 ghz and a AMD x64 6000+ (2 x 3 GHZ) and they both get about 16 fps in markarth and solitude, thats terrible, though the i3 2100 rolls 40 fps, just because its dual core optimised doesnt mean all duals can play it decently, it relies heavily on clock for clock performance more than threaded optimization :/
@GodlyhankFfXI Ofcourse, I used to have the previous generations of cores before the i3 so I know what you're talking about and you're actually quite right. When I stated "can handle the game" I didn't mean in full details, some settings, especially physics features, etc should be lowered, especially if the user's graphic card doesn't meet the game's recommended requirements
@AUStarScream Yea i was just stating also so other people will understand, people should read it and it will be self explanetory so they wont ask if lower CPU can play the game, on a AMD 6000+ with all settings lowered lucky to hit 25 fps in towns, and the draw distance is unbearable, if you have a 450 gts even on 1080 the cpu will be a limiter until your rolling i3 :x with this game the G card isnt that much of a problem 440 gt+ (based on 720, on 1080 450 is medium graphics)
@AUStarScream i built my gf a pc just to play this game decently. i cheaped all out and she still hits med perfect fps. high she lags to about 20fps in riften, which seems to be the most demanding? idky. but its sporting an athlon ii x2 250 (OC'ed 3.4) and a gts 450. skyrim is only limited to 2 cores, and 2gb ram, until the 4gb official patch comes out. (u could use 4gbskyrim but would forfit fxaa) easy game to build around. did build it on an asus board though. makes all the difference ;-)

@tAiLspo0n Use MSI afterburner and downclock it to 800 mhz core and -50 off memory.... use MSI afterburner... also check your GPU temps, sounds liek a GPU problem and because it happens 2 hrs in i put it down to instability, i had a ZOTAC 550ti AMP was at 1000 mhz core, was soooo unstable even my friends was we downclocked to 900 mhz and it solved all problems and cooled it down, also turn the fans up a little too to keep cool
Just to add on, does a cheap pair of speakers affect my current specs? I've already changed the sound setting/properties so as to not crash upon Skyrim's Main menu and have been playing skyrim for a long time while enduring the intermittent crashes.
Hi, I have a tendency of crashing while playing skyrim, especially when I teleport around too much lol. Either that or my graphics will suddenly look weird and my statues and dragons look abit light bluish or something, and shortly would crash within 2 hours + - . Any idea in solving this problem? Any form of beneficial help is much appreciated :) Specs: GeForce GTS 450, intel core i3-2100 3.1Ghz 4GB ram, 64 bit OS
@AUStarScream will skyrim run maxed out on my computer here are the specs dual 1.5gb nvidia geforce gts 450, 4gb dual channel ram, 3.30ghz i5-2500k quad core processor
@dx980 Maxed out? 16x AF 8x AA at 1080? no chance :x 2 450 gts is in essence a 1GB 460 gtx, with only one of them you can do ultra settings 2x AA 16x AF with that, a little fiddling about wiht settings will make it run better, on the other hand if your a 1360x768 1440x900 or even 1600x1050 person go right ahead you should be fine, maxing out thought 1920x1080 and 2550x1600 get pretty straining with AA and AF even for my 560ti :/
i got EVERYTHING on the lowest settings. and still its laggy.. ive been defragging all day long tweaking and shit, still.. i run on MAX 20 fps.. any help?
@gennisfedeve Im guessing your dual core is a AMD x64 dual? The intel version of that is one of the highest E series and if your getting 20 fps on a i3 id be very concerned :x even on a E series intel 20 fps is bad, i have 2 Pcs 1 has a 450 gts EVGA FTW and a AMD X64 6000+ 3.00 GHZ and in solitude i get down to 15 fps, im putting this on your cpu friend, message the exact model of your CPU and see if your CPU is under performing or if its simply too old :/
@struggle375 It only happens in Whiterun you said? Try messing around the graphic sliders/advanced options at the Skyrim launcher, also, IMPORTANTLY, change the shadows from Ultra to Medium or Low, trust me, you will see significant improvements and the game will still look gorgeous.
@ItIsTheInvisibleMan You'll do fine, keep on alert your monitor resolution though. The highter, the more graphics power you'll need. Also lower the shadows a bit, the game will still look gorgeous nonetheless.
@struggle375 Your CPU is too weak , those old Athlon x2 are bottle necking the gts 450 , Upgrade the cpu to a cheap AMd x 4 cpu or a 965 be if the motherboard supports it. Easy way to check is overclock your video card by 10 or 15% or 20% and then run some benchmarks (Whatever that card is known to be able to do) , if your FPS doesn't increase by the corresponding % then your cpu is the bottleneck.
i have gts 450 and dualcore e7400(2.8) and 2 gb ram can i play it on high?please guys tell me what is the setting with which you see further distances npcs please
@Jdwill1014 If you can't spend any more than that you should be fine. Be on alert for the monitor resolution though; 1280x1024 is the best that card can perform on.
My Pc Settings is
Nividia Geforce GTS 450
CPU IntelCore i7 2600k 3.40GHz

@struggle375 It only happens in Whiterun you said? Try messing around the graphic sliders/advanced options at the Skyrim launcher, also, IMPORTANTLY, change the shadows from Ultra to Medium or Low, trust me, you will see significant improvements and the game will still look gorgeous.

@ItIsTheInvisibleMan You'll do fine, keep on alert your monitor resolution though. The highter, the more graphics power you'll need. Also lower the shadows a bit, the game will still look gorgeous nonetheless.

@AUStarScream Sweet, i run resoultion in games on 1280 by 1024, and my screen resoultion is 1440 by 900. So am i looking to play on medium, high ect?

@struggle375 Your CPU is too weak , those old Athlon x2 are bottle necking the gts 450 , Upgrade the cpu to a cheap AMd x 4 cpu or a 965 be if the motherboard supports it. Easy way to check is overclock your video card by 10 or 15% or 20% and then run some benchmarks (Whatever that card is known to be able to do) , if your FPS doesn't increase by the corresponding % then your cpu is the bottleneck.

@SkyrimDragon11 Maybe he doesn't have enough budget:p
AUStarScream 3 months ago
@AUStarScream an i3 and 560 non ti are the same price as an i5 and 450 :) maybe even 5 or 10 less if you shop around
GodlyhankFfXI 3 months ago
@Jdwill1014 If you can't spend any more than that you should be fine. Be on alert for the monitor resolution though; 1280x1024 is the best that card can perform on.
