People have been making these for years, anyone who has played with an Arduino will know this is nothing special.

Just google "Garduino projects" and you'll see what I mean. if you buy an Arduino and read a little bit on how to use one you'll find this really easy to do.

Why not just have the microcontroller run a pump or actuate a valve to water said plant vs send a message on twitter?

Funny idea. The soundquality however makes it hard to understand, at least for me, beeing no native speaker. And the load music in the background makes it even worse. First I thought some other browser window was emitting it.
