Being a HUGE fan of what can be used as a kubatan, I think the product is excellent. I like that it has no point that can penetrate, like so many other kubatans and defensive pens do have a point. Crushing is more painful than a stab. Don't care for the keys slashing, etc, just give me the kubatan. I like the size for defense and maybe it can conceal easier than how it looks. Love the way you tuck it into the paints for a fast crab when needed. Great job!
@MeanEyedCats Not pitching, just laying out the positives. The patent is based on the "tear drop" design, which terminates into an edge. When force, whether pressure points or strikes are delivered, the amount of force needed to facilitate pain and/or tissue & bone damage is minimal compared to a rounded space of a conventional kubotan. It is 7 inches in length to allow for second hand reinforcement. The finger grooves allow for one handed control of limbs. Check out the instruc. video clip. TY
Something like this is good and practical, but the smaller kubatan is better. The idea behind using weapons or any kind of strike/technique, is to apply pressure to your opponent. Pressure = force per unit area, so the less the surface area of the attacking surface, the more pressure will consequently be applied and the more devestating the blow/strike. Pressure is indeed the essence of the martial arts... all techniques come back to efficient and compact application of pressure.
The second, downsized version prototype has already been produced and is in the Patent stage.
I am focused on producing viable products made in the USA with the concerns of LE and civilian defense as my most primary concern.
We are also now in production of DVD 2, which will focus on joint lock/nerve manipulation/control techniques, which has been the most requested follow up to DVD 1.
Officer safety may not be understood by most, but I am dedicated to the need and will pursue it.
I think the smaller version would sell better to the civialian market, where as the larger would be great for security/LE, In my opinion. The pearl drop is a great idea..why didn't I think of that...lol. I'll most likley but both. Thanks guys for this tool to keep us safe.
The difference is unique enough to award the TE BO Hand Stick a US patent. The patented "tear drop" design is what makes the difference.
Yawara, a term for an old form of Ju Jutsu that used a small stick, does not fall into this category. Of course the Kubotan, a modern term named after it's inventor, is fashioned after the traditional Yubi Bo (finger stick).
Very good observation, 0:19 demonstrates the effectiveness of a reverse finger lock augmented technique with the TE BO Hand Stick. No one can withstand the tremendous force focused on the small bones/joints of the finger.
I watched your video and enjoyed it. Keep your research moving forward, disregard any jealously based comments and pursue what is in your Martial Art "heart".
Nice, but only seems to cater for the generic simple grips and striking methods of kubotans, doesn't seem to give much in the way or gip for the more subtle ways of using them, like the in hand, betwen fingers use found in arts like Aikido.
There are a variety of intricate angle changes such as stretching the skin on the flat to the edge. The edge points, also focus energy tremendously with minimal manipulation. We are currently in production of an instructional DVD that will teach the many fine points of the TE BO.
You are welcome, and ah that will be interesting to watch, and my main comment was basd on how large this seems to be as it looks like it would be a fairly hard thign to hold in the normal AIki method, the Star Treck "Live long and prosper" grip held between the thumb spanning over the knuckle on the index finger/palm joint and then betwen the little and 4th or middle and 4th finger. But as I said will be interesting to see the dvd.
Again, thank you for your input. We also have on the drawing board a smaller version that will utilize the patented design. We anticipate it will be on the market by the end of the year.
I also appreciate the functionality of combat flashlights. However the simple fact is not many people carry tactical flashlights. The TE BO Hand Stick's patented tear drop edge creates a tremendous amount of force on contact especially when striking. The new TE BO video demonstrates the power of that edge, you will see it slice through the first couple sections of wood due to the cutting type action on contact on the edge. The TE BO is much more than a stick. Thank you for your comment.
Tecniche molto efficaci.

What would you say to someone like me, who carries and loves the kubotan, to convince me to make the switch to a TE BO?
I'm seeing lots of negatives, but no positives as of yet. Make your pitch. ;)

@MeanEyedCats Perhaps the best "pitch" is to take a few moments to watch the demonstration video clips of the product. Thank you for your message.

I don't see how this is any different from a Kubotan or Yawara other than it's an oversized pocket stick. New design on an old concept.

personally I think carrying around what is essentially a stick is not worth the bulk, I still prefer my sure fire flashlights.

It's like a Kubotan..... problem is you have to take the time to find your grip...... Kubotan is much simpler. Cool idea though.
