I cant believe this FDNY is trying to get to the call and NYPD is just sitting there and not even helping the fire company get through the intersection or get where they are going. This is shocking to see NYPD not helping at all. At 1:45 mark u have this one engine that can not cross the intersection because there is no room at all instead its Pretty embarrassing to see that the Engine crew arriving on scene has to turn right facing the wrong way
Well I suggest to see as much of the city outside itself, especially when you're going for only a few days. Most people do the cliché stuff like the Empire State Building, Madame Tussaud's, Macy's and other "museum's" etc. If you do those, as interesting as they are, you will spend alot of time queueing inside. If you buy a week-pass for one of the hop-on-hop-off bus services, you'll get to see so much more.
@Fuxser In a public building if a fire alarm is pulled or a smoke detector goes off the fire department must respond. They have no idea if there is a real fire, or if someone just pulled it for a good laugh. Either way the team must come out, and since it is a large building in NY they have more trucks come out to the scene.

Bedankt daarvoor!
That's fun when your in lots of heavy traffic and we all just stop and get out and start walking and leave the engine. People get pissed LOL but we get there faster, unless you want to just plow through everyone :D
dont listen to him, its kids like that...that give us Americans a bad name, I have always wanted to go to Belgium, alot of culture and history you all got.
Just gotta love how people get out of the way to a huge fire engine with blasting horn and siren. Its like people think the world revolves around them and "...too bad if someone is trapped inside that burning building- I want to be in that lane an not even a fire truck is going to stop me!"
You really have no say unless you know someone high up in the FDNY. I'm sorry to break it to you but its all about who you know when it comes to jobs like the FDNY and NYPD. You'll get put wherever they need you. Manhattan, especially Midtown and Lower don't need much help. Good chance you'll end up in Brooklyn or Bronx.
O really? Wow, thanks for letting me know. Sorry for false information everyone. Thanks twisted. Brooklyn or Bronx are busy with fires though correct?
Sure thing. That is how it is in the NYPD and I'm sure the FDNY too. As a new guy you'll just get put wherever they need you. After you've been working for a while you can have more say in where you would like to go.
@Zildjian285 ...............As our flags, we only see to up hold the Royals rights, that’s why we don't go over the top like the US. I think the US really does go over the top on their flag. There's pride and then there’s Boasting.
@robotracking Well, that's obviously your very respectable opinion, but I think you're stretching the definition of "over the top" a bit. I haven't seen anyone complain about seeing "too many flags" anywhere in the US in my life.
@wimpie25 No, I have a very good idea, I just don't see how that should change anything. What if there's people whose misconceptions of America makes them hate the fact that we Americans are very proud of our country? Nothing. I can't see why we should let other people tell us how many flags to wave. You're very proud of Belgium and Europe yourself, and I respect that. I wouldn't go around telling you that you shouldn't think too much of your country or continent :)
@wimpie25 European fears of fascism are nonexistent here. We are not afraid to proudly display our flags. We do not fear tyrants coming to power. So it does not matter how the rest of the world views "that sort of pride". It's sad that patriotism is frowned upon in countries of Europe. Perhaps we are too patriotic, but that is infinitely better than not being patriotic enough.
I truly respect your opinion on this matter but it is funny that you bring back the reason why we don't like the excesive use of flags is due to facism.
We are not afraid of facism whatsoever, in fact the creation of the EU gave most inhabitants of European nations the pride for their own nation back. The Italians and other founding members for example have never been prouder than they are today, Western-Europeans lead the list.
@Zildjian285 beleive it or not, since the fdny was hit the hardest during 9/11, they put the us flags a mini memorial. they usually didnt have the flags before 9/11
Lol, the situation isn't better in Belgium. Thats why most ambulances are equiped with 8 different sirens to make people move. Or atleast to get their attention.

Anybody recalls the $3.00 dollar movie theater around that area back in the 90s before it converted to a play theatre?

You mean the one on 50th, right off 8 Avenue?

Yep. It was the only movie theater that showed movies three months late and only cost three bucks. It is no longer there, but it was fun, though.
