The positioning of the tie to begin with is the most troublesome for me. How low should it hang when completed? Would be nice if you included that info in your vids. It's great that you mirror image them!
@rustOfunk Generally the tie should hang like this: the broadest part of the front end (wide blade) should reach the top of your belt, with the point of the wide blade hanging just below the belt line.
I disagree - that would depend on the material & color and the suit .. you can tell the difference (even if slight) .. take that from a guy who has been wearing ties for over 10 years :)
@ripitupog Cars all look the same too. My Ford Focus has 4 wheels, a steering wheel, windows, seats, paint, a hood, hub caps, a clock, rear view mirror, and a motor just like a Porsche.
a good tie consists of solid colors for sophstication. Florals or ties with too much patterns will only to add the confusion of a nice suit. Instead choose a color thats not too VIVID and a bit dark or mysterious. If youre into the vivd colors choose a tie with a max oof 3 or 4 colors with a max of 2 vivid colors in strips. For a nice, modern look for younger guys/all guys in general, go with the skinny tie in solid colors. However, the skinny tie is recommended with a well fit suit, not loose.
When they are tied tho, they all look the same.... lol! Maybe its only guys who notace the difference? They all seem exsactly the same to me I'd only lurn em to show off that I could do it lol.
One of my favorites. Thanks for all your videos, I have actually tried all of them and they are so useful. Very nice and didactic way to instruct by a clear manner.
I would say that Victoria is a concatenation of 2 four-in-hands while this one is a four-in-hand together with an inverted four-in-hand which makes this one non-selfreleasing. But I could be wrong.
No sorry, I just looked at the Victoria, they are not the same at all, my fault. But I tried this, and I discovered that this knot is made self-releasing if you go the same way around all the time.
A super stylish knot. I shall try this out!

I think the half Windsor and Pratt Knots are better. This one is really asymmetrical.

Some are wider and more puffy like the winsdor or the plattsburgh, those are the most elegant IMO.
cmcas 3 years ago
ahhhh ok lol so if I see a guy with a wide tie I can go, "One question....winsdor, or plattsburgh?"
amanda366 3 years ago 2
Well, we guys do notice the difference, and not all knots can be done well with the same tie.

Isn't this just a non-selfreleasing Victoria knot?

It's a concatenation of two four-in-hands. But close enough to what you suggested.

can you confirm to me that this a "mirror" image, therefore the left shoulder of the model is our right shoulder?

Yes I can. The video is to be viewed as if you were looking in a mirror.

@avvi66 It feels a little freaky seeing my mirror image performing these intricate moves without any input from me!
