  • OMG the word ONI is in it, and it's also in HALO, and there's plasma rifles and similar graphics in relation to Halo CE, not to mention super-soldiers, robot AI's, cloaking, and a plethora of purple.

This MUST MEAN... IT'S CONNECTED IN EVERY WAY TO THE HALO STORYLINE!!!

Give me a break! Even IF it was, it doesn't help explain anything. I'm not going to lie, the ending was so incredibly a let down and doesn't fit at all in the Halo Mythos.

Game is great, not enough like it, ending not so much.

  • This game is also for the mac, but it is a bit too old to play on most machines. I have the game up in my shelf for the mac, but I can't play it for that reason.

  • Oni and Marathon does not exist in the Halo universe. There is however a lot of references in Halo to these two games. Bungie just loves to make references, get over it people. Why does everything have to be connected through the storyline? Isn't the connections through similaritys and references enough?

  • it actually is related to halo. ONI takes place in 2500. the human-covenant war began in 2525. Plus there r spartan 1 soldiers in the game ONI. Spartan 1 soldiers r the 1st spartan soldiers ever trained. Master cheif is a spartan 2. Plus it makes perfect sense bcuz theres a time gap in the halo novel "The Fall of Reach" and ONI fills that time gap.

  • @Thugboy1997 What are you talking about?! Oni takes place in the 21st century, about 2032... spartans dont have anything to do with it. Spartan 1s are the actual spartans trained in Sparta, spartan 2s are the first spartans in the halo universe...WOW! dont say things you dont even know.

  • That's like saying Halo is a Marathon sequel because it's got the Marathon symbol in it

  • funny coz halo doesnt come out on PS. so this would not have any thing to do with halo

  • Y'all now halo went rts 3rd shooter to fps gggg can't spell on iPod :(

  • Not part of the Halo universe. Bungie just re-used the names. Doesn't mean crap. Even so, Oni is a fantastic game.

  • oni is better than all the halo games

  • I think every Bungie game so far is in the same universe. Pathways into Darkness, the Marathon series, Oni, the Halo series and so on.

  • You are wrong NgvgnDOTcom, ONI takes place in a different universe. It has nothing to do with HALO. Although it was made by the same team who did "Combat Evolved", the game timeline is completely different.

Halo is actually "Marathon" in the third dimension.

  • The ultimate form of trolling- feigning retardation.

  • ONI > HALO

  • Erm...buys(Halo fans) - this game has nothing to do with HALO at all...if you were TRUE fans of HALO...you would definitely notice that ridiculously obvious fact...STOP blackening this nice game...will ya?!

  • Made a trailer for this if you're interested...

    watch?v=i7NMt0t29Ik&feature=related

If you like ONI, i'd bet my left nut you'll like the trailer ;-)

  • your friend is retarded lol

  • Fan is short for Fanatic

  • I'd say if it's connected to any bungie games it would be marathon.

  • Downvoting just for the title. "Lost Halo game" my ass.

    Great game though.

  • Oni has nothing to do with Halo, never has and never will. At the end of Oni (Spoiler alert, place a large pot over your head and beat it with a spoon if you don't want to hear.) the human race as we know it is destroyed. Now, we know in Halo the human race is fine because in Halo2 the covenant find earth mostly intact, correct? I could be wrong since I played the Halo 2 campaign maybe four times? Either way, only affiliation is the creator.

  • ONI had nothing to do with halo

except in halo there is a military branch called ONI but they arnt the same thing

bungie just likes referencing past games

    like the marathon symbol

the fact that master chief is similar to the main character in marathon

    the AI's

  • Jeff? Is that you?

  • Note the rockstar logo on the front... does that make it like... a futuristic GTA Or something :O?

    (sarcasm)

  • Fact: The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) in Halo is just a reference to this game and has nothing to do at ALL with this game's universe other than just being a reference.

  • do they even mention anything in the actual game that can be related to the Halo storyline?

  • i saw some guys in this game with REALLY similar armor that master chief has

  • rockstar?

  • holy shit! for ps2? why bungie! why?!?!?!??!

  • @epichalocat it was made before they were bought mircosoft

  • @ADAM2ME i know

  • wow this isn't a part of halo. i was researching it b4 this to see if i would like it and it has nothing to do with halo. Oni(office of naval intelligence) is an Easter egg based on this game

  • "Somehow it is connected to Halo and I DON'T REALLY KNOW (how) but I wanted to let you guys know..." (emphasis mine)

Dude, simply because two things share the same acronym... two things not even based in reality... does not mean they're related in any way, except for being produced by the same (real) company. The creators of "Oni" have mentioned that the basis of the game came from the look and style of "Ghost In The Shell", but that doesn't make *them* related as well.

  • Lol, I thought this was total bs until I saw a post about Halo 4... basically the planet it takes place on is the planetoid from ONI.

    Proof: bungie(dot)n(e)t/Forums/posts(d0t)aspx?postID=61278968

  • im not exactly sure, but i now tht i think about it, oni may very well be part of the halo universe. of course, this is just a speculation, there really isnt any hard evidence proving halo and oni are connected.

  • I've played Halo 1, 2 and 3 and I'm not a die hard Halo fan whatsoever.. but I LOVE Oni, it's a MASSIVELY underappreciated game, and no, Halo and Oni are set in a different universe.

P.S. there are MANY games better than Halo.

  • Sorry bro, but Oni is NOT connected to Halo. They used the name of the game for part of it. Oni is standalone.

  • dont matter, its a good fighting game, one of the best...waiting 4 pt 2

  • Oni litterally has nothing to do with the Halo universe. It's just a game that Bungie happened to make.

    Your friend is wrong.

That's just like saying that Oblivion is on the same story line as Fallout just because they're made by the same company.

  • @ChrisCaelanThomas It is part of the Halo Universe "The commanding offices of the UNSC military are CENTCOM (Central Command), and HIGHCOM (High Command). The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) is the most secretive branch of the UNSC"

wikipedia search for Factions of Halo

  • @ngvgnDOTcom It's not a part of the Halo universe. If it was then this would take place before hand but they're two sepereate games. Just because Oni is the name of the game doesn't mean it's the same Oni. Bungie used alot of terms, phrases, and names from their previous games to construct Halo but that doesn't mean they're the same thing.

It may seem like they connect but they're not related in the slightest way.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom And that wikipedia post was posted by a random person. All of them are. Wikipedia isn't made up of professional researchers, it's made up of a bunch of people who sign up and post info that is inaccurate more than 65% of the time.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom

Just because the name of the game happens to correspond to "Office of Naval Intelligence" does not mean it's a part of Halo. It's a game set in a seperate univere. Please do some reading outside of Wikipedia, maybe Bungies front page?

  • @ngvgnDOTcom This game is actually not part of the Halo universe. It may have INFLUENCED halo though. Just as marathon influenced halo and there are things from marathon in halo it is not in the halo universe. The same applies with ONI. Which is why you see little hints at other games in halo. For example in marathon it is UESC in halo UNSC. ONI is called ONI because they wanted to appeal to their fans, not because they are in the same universe.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom Sorry, but the Office of Naval Intelligence is simply a reference to Oni (The game). I could be wrong, though...

  • @ngvgnDOTcom Oni has nothing to do with Halo's ONI.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom Dude, you are retarded. ONI IS the office of naval intel, in the real world. Those names are purely coincidental.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom No. That's like saying that UESC is related to the UNSC. ONI in Halo is simply a reference to this game, just like MJOLNIR armor is a reference to Marathon.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom right like in reach like oni sword base

  • @ngvgnDOTcom You get your information from wikipedia? NOPE.AVI! This game is not part of Halo but I do like this game :3

  • @ngvgnDOTcom uhhh... the Office of Naval Intelligence is a real life organization too...

  • @ngvgnDOTcom Just because they used the same names for factions in the two IPs, doesn't mean they are connected.Oni is an attempt at an homage to the Ghost in the Shell series.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom That's just an reference.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom that makes no sense you dick, oni is anime , its made by rockstar, halo is based more on war this is a assasin type game is it fuck a halo game i agree with ChrisCaelanThomas plus oni is not shit and has nothing to do with morher fucking SPARTANS!

  • @ngvgnDOTcom "Oni" in Oni is not at all related to "ONI - the Office of Naval Intelligence" in Halo.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom ONI in halo is a reference to the game.

  • @ChrisCaelanThomas You obviously haven't played or seen it yet. Oni has plasma force fields and advanced plasma guns and stuff. Not to mention the armour is almost exactly like Halo.

  • @ethanfilms190 That's not a valid argument. Bungie uses alot of the elements from their previous games to make the new ones, this does not mean they're on the same story line. Almost EVERY psifi game uses plasma shields and plasma guns. Marathon used them but it doesn't take place in the same universe as Halo let alone the same story, though they are VERY similar games.

  • @ChrisCaelanThomas No, no. What I mean is that Oni started Halo.

  • @ethanfilms190 What you mean is wrong, because Oni didn't start Halo. They're not the same story. Just because there's an organization in the Halo Universe named Oni doesn't mean the two games are linked, Bungie uses names from previous games in their newer ones all the time simply because that's what they do. Did you know that there's also a ship called Marathon in Halo just like the ship from the game Marathon, does this mean it's the same thing? No.

  • @ChrisCaelanThomas The ship Marathon has NOTHING to do with Marathon. There isn't a ship/vehicle in Oni that is named Halo, nor is a vehicle in Halo called Oni.

  • @ethanfilms190 The ship Marathon has EVERYTHING to do with Marathon, the whole point of the game is saving the ship from invading aliens.

And what the fuck? "There isn't a ship/vehicle in Oni that is named Halo, nor is a vehicle in Halo called Oni."? I never said there was, you fucking retard.

I'm done with this, if you're going to try to argue with me and fact, then at least TRY to make valid points, otherwise I can't take you seriously.

  • @ethanfilms190 Oh, and by the way, I've actually looked into this, I've done my research and I know I'm right, you're just making retarded assumptions because the word Oni happens to be in the Halo franchise.

  • @ChrisCaelanThomas I wouldn't waste my time lookin this up, you'r taking this too seriously retard. We can all have our predicts, etc. Who fucking cares about the truth, same thing with religion, Christians, Catholics, and so on, but religion is something important.

  • @ethanfilms190 WRONG I CARE ABOUT THE TRUTH AND VIDEO GAMES ARE NOTHING LIKE RELIGION , HONESTLY I MEAN WHEN THE FUCK HAVE YOU GONE TO A CHURCH TO PRAY AND SEEN A NERD SAT OWNING THE FUCKING XBOX OR WHEN HAVE YOU STUMBLED INTO A BAPTISM ONLY TO FIND BILL GATES CHARGING A e-machines LAPTOP!

  • @ultimatedarkhood123 Fuck you I said it's almost like it, sensitive little bitch.

  • @ethanfilms190 welll. your gay

  • @ultimatedarkhood123 So are you, so come suck my dick to grow yourself some.

  • @ethanfilms190 I'm 14 and you sound like your well into your 20's mabye 30's i can get u in some right shit for telling me to do that. plus look at your comment page ... notice HALF OF THE FUCKER AGREE'S THAT ONI IS TWAT ALL TO DO WITH HALO

  • @ultimatedarkhood123 Haha, don't rage, ass.

  • @ethanfilms190 oh yeah well ah?... look i dont got shit to say like the comment ass a truece plus i understand what u mean oni gave them the idea to do halo completely understand

  • @ultimatedarkhood123 .-. COMPLETLY WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY!!

  • @ethanfilms190 PLUS HALO IS GAY GOODBYE (i run off into the sunset making sure u cant get me with a comeback hahahaha!)

  • @ultimatedarkhood123 *Comeback* The sunset burns you.

  • @ethanfilms190 not possible you bellend i'm on a horse and have sunglasses and cream. and my ass burns your mums face.

  • Actually, I think that if Oni was in the Halo universe, it'd be placed after the Halo storyline. The weapons in Oni are significantly mroe advanced than any human weaponry shown in Halo.

For instance, you can use Energy Cell based weaponry, and if I remember correctly, humans haven't figured out energy weapons in Halo. Also, Earth showed no signs of being a Biological nightmare in Halo, whereas in Oni, it's only through the use of Atmospheric Processing plants that anyone's still alive.

  • @Eidorian999 Your probably right. I'm just going on what my friend told me years ago.

  • @ngvgnDOTcom Your friend (I don't want to offend him in any way) but he hadn't played Oni through(till the end) and I'm sure of it - the whole script has nothing to do with HALO...how can't you guys undarstand that fact? :( - Please, tell your friend that you shouldn't judge something only because you noticed some slight similar characters' features or anything else...It's just unfair in regard to the game.

(I hope my english is readable xD )

  • @Eidorian999

    It takes place in 2032...

  • My copy for Mac suddenly stopped working. Any idea why?

  • @GmasterRED Sorry no idea my I'm not a MAC user. You could try this making another copy on CD-R.

I have Netflix on my PS3 and the disc stopped working so I had to use another Netflix boot disc and all was good.

I think it came from the drive not gripping the disc.

  • THE BEST GAME EVER!

  • Game elements and such have similarities with Halo.. or just Bungie. It's a great game, one of the bests. Though it never made a sequel, we're still reviving it with mods. It's getting better.
