It is general knowledge and I agree that each repetition should be smooth from the positive part of the movement through the negative part. However this video was meant to be motivational, not instructional and when a person is lifting a weight heavier than normal, many professional trainers "cheat" by emphasizing a controlled negative movement and allowing the body to compensate by "jerking" on the positive. I am 128 pounds and five feet nine inches tall and this weight was heavy for me.
