the way i look at it is thus, if They look like their hearts are in the music as much as their older shows and albums... than what is the problem. their music is about them, not us. Yes have they changed, of course... but we all do and their music is no different. So continue to listen to their old music and forget the new if it's not your taste, but don't bash them for growing up and changing... it's just the way things work.

saw against me! in a basement under a record store when I was 13 years old after they came out with "as an eternal cowboy"....that show changed my life.....I did lose touch with this band I personally liked the edgy twangy folk/punk acoustic stuff better but Tom looks good and he looks like he is happy with his music so good for him. it's good to see they are doing well. against me will always be a huge influence to me.

Oh sure, their sound HAS changed, but if you ever read or listen to interviews with Tom, he says how he always wanted to move toward this sound. You can't be punk or continue to put out the type of music that they did forever. It's called growth as a band.

I'm not a pissed of anarcho punk who feels like the sold out. There is just nothing to their music anymore except for Tom's intensity. Reinventing Axl Rose is an unbelievable album because it is so raw and combines the energy and message of Punk Rock with the simplicity of Folk music. I think the last two albums have musically fallen flat but I will always love this band for the music they made.

I saw these guys the other night (although they had someone else playing bass, which puzzled me) and I will say, they still are positively wonderful live! I don't know if they are even capable of putting on a bad show. (also, i think franz is an awesome addition to this tour, even if it is temporary. He's a weird fit for am! but i always have a blast watching him play.)

I just saw them on May 11th and let me say they did not suck live. I've bee listening to them since the Axl days and although there sound has changed a bit, there energy has not. They closed the show with "Baby I'm an Anarchist" and the place erupted. The whole show was killer. The sound may have changed a bit but I still dig it and they play plenty of their old stuff live still. I like the old stuff better indeed but the new stuff is good as well.

I wouldn't judge the quality of their current live shows by a tonight show clip.. or any video for that matter. i can't imagine they all of a sudden suck live. I'm not a huge fan of this record, but i will always support Against Me! because dammit, look at them! They enjoy what they're doing. If you don't like the music they're making, you don't have to listen to it but let's stop arguing about whether a band sucks or not. This song is pretty effin' catchy even if it's not quite what i had expected from an AM album. Also, Franz Nicolay is a welcomed addition to pretty much any band.

the song is about what you guys are talking about. They're singing about being young and writing songs like "pint of guinness" and remembering how it felt to be that idealistic. They have matured and the songwriting has too. As an Against Me! fan I don't want to hear the same record over and over.
