the difference between the Jota dance from other countries is that the Philippine version is more on graceful and a little slow than the others. I watched some videos of Jota dances.
The Filipinos have given a special flavour to the jota, but it still retains its Spanish nature. The JOTA is danced everywhere in the Spanish speaking world, sometimes under different name and other influences, but foremost, its music and rhythm is quintessentialy Spanish.
It is very nice to know that these dances are being preserved in the Philippines. I want to congratulate every dancer and choreographer for such a performance.
@engelboen : The Spaniards brought their numerous fiestas and celebrations to all of their colonies, Any good occasion for merriment was accompanied by music and dancing. The jotas were the most popular and also the most elegant in movements; also the fandango was a popular dance all over the Spanish world.
The Spanish love for fiestas, music and dance is the lasting legacy from the colonial era to this very day. The jota and fandango are still performed in the hispanic world
