I warn you further as your brother in Islaam, stay far away from Estes. He has no knowledge because he is not interested in going overseas to gain knowledge or he would have done so a long time ago. He has the opportunity, believe me. Yet even after he has no knowledge, he is still not embarrased to go in front of people all over the world and speak far, above and beyond his scope of knowledge. Only those who are insincere to Allah would do such a thing.

I've met someone who has used his argument, "How can you be a Salafi, the Salaf are dead?" I was so shocked at the time that someone would say something so stupid that I didn't believe they got that from someone else. We look at him as being a mere celebrity because we know better. However, there are individuals out there who actually sit and listen to his lectures believing he is a Shaykh and that they are gaining knowledge. He should not be listened to even for entertainment purposes.

Estes is one way when the cameras are rolling and another way behind the scenes and the Salafi brothers who were with me were witness to this and Allah is our Witness to Estes' behavior that day. It was related by Abu Hurairah (radiya-Allahu 'anh) that the Prophet (sal Allahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "You will not find two things in the heart of a Munafiq. Good character and understanding of the Religion" (Tirmidhi).

I spoke with this man Estes personally and from my experience he, in that conversation, displayed some of the most wicked, disgusting and nasty behavior and speech I ha ever experienced with a man with a beard and a thawb. The only one in my memory who had a character just as bad as his was an orthodox Jew I encountered on a New York City subway train. There is more evil with this man than I think the Students of Knowledge and the Ulamaa realize.
