eifach geil. bin CH wohne aber i dr usa. ha grad vor 1 wuche en alte fernseh kauft us em jahr 1949. etz suechi na en videorecorder us 1970 oder so...cools video. danke
@Tyco072 Yes, you can insert old VCR cassettes, but the SVR4004 will refuse to work, there's a switch that detects the cassette type. But newer SVR tapes can be used in standard and longplay recorders, just the recordings can't be exchanged because of differing speeds and track alignments.
Thank you very much! I didn't knew this detail. How is the image quality compared to VHS and Betamax? I see that that the head drum seems to be very large. Do you know the measure of the diameter of the head drum? It would be very interesting to know.
@Tyco072 The image quality is slightly better than VHS. The head drum of the older VCR is 105mm, the SVR looks the same, but I didn't measure it. You can find more details about these systems in the german verison of Wikipedia.
@sheimers Thank you again. It is very interesting. 10,5 cm is even more than Betamax! (7,85cm). The drum diameter should be the same also for the SVR. It could afford much more than 240-250 lines, with a proper signal processing. It is a great piece of history of video recording pre-Betamax and VHS!
Great video!! Thank you! I have never seen this format. Can you tell me when it is born? What was its name? In an old Italian magazine of the 1979 I have read "SVS", but I can found no information about this name in internet. How much large is the head drum?
This is the third generation of VCR. The cassette has the same shape as VCR, but it runs at even lower speed than the longplay machines and has improved signal processing.
Yes, I am sure, I have machines for all three VCR versions. This definitely runs slower than VCR-Longplay. But I know that Grundig made machines that looked similar for the older VCR standards, too. (VCR3500, VCR4000)
Thanks for the comment. No, I don't have reel to reel video machines, only audio. I do have VCR, VCR-LP, Umatic Lowband and Video2000. That SVR is not mine, I just had it for repair.
Tape-Format ist das? Ich mag Ihren Videorecorder. Grüße

Cool dieses Laufwerk. Und an welcher Stelle dort die Andruckrolle sitzt.

The sound is much more clearer than a VHS or Beta. Cheers.
Fact: I live in Montreal and the video club in front of my house is called Video 2000. What a coincidence.

Can I buy blank cassettes anywhere?
TheNewFormula 2 years ago
You can't buy new tapes, only used ones or NOS. And you need the ones for SVC. Older cassettes don't work, even if they have the same shape.

@sheimers
Can't you introduce mechanically a VCR cassette in a SVR recorder? Or only the recording system is different?

Are you sure it's not the Second?
Apparently tapes recorded on this machine will not play in Philips VCR machines
