I just got one this weekend and was wondering if you have used yours yet? It truly is a piece of work! I'll bet you will use it on your Jan. 2nd snow camp trip, eh?
I saw a video by a British gent who warned against hooking the strap around your belt for carry. If you bump that strap and it comes undone, that razor sharp axe will fall towards your foot. He saw one embedded in a guy's foot.
@envirosponsible You are welcome. Don't get me wrong, I want to own one of these. I thought it was a very keen observation on his part. Well, he doesn't get too much credit because he witnessed the accident. He hooks the underside of the axe over his belt and says that it stays perfectly in place. He keeps the sheath securely fastened, however. Good luck!
@bushcraft96 It must have been. None of the guys I camp, fish and hunt with carry axes. Everything I know about them I learned off of YouTube. I think he was British in fact.
how much did that cost you to order in? i want one real bad. but im really wondering the difference between the hunters axe, and the small forest axe (other then the polished blunt end)
Nice to see you with a real axe rather than the cheap Friskars or Gerber axes that seem so popular. GB axes are great. For those who feel they can't afford a GB axe you might want to look at Wetterlings axes. Wetterlings makes great axes that cost less than GB (even though owned by GB) and are high quality high carbon steel & hickory construction.
Looks like a sweet axe and I look forward to seeing you put it through its paces. A bit out of my price range so I'm looking into the Wetterlings which I hear are made across the street from the Bruks.
@CdnLifeguard71 Wetterlings was actually bought by GB awhile back ago, but lets them operate independently recognizing they make a high quality axe. I actually prefer Wetterlings over the GB axes.
Great axe my friend, I had an email to say you posted this as a video response but its no longer in my inbox, I see its a response to another video, not sure if you know but you can only use the response once.
the axe is 19" not 24" it is also 2 lbs. total and made of American hickory treated with linseed oil.

we in army do not often use the axe. we often use the sharp side of the folding shovels to cut wood.

what do you thing about gerber axes?
shoopwhoopX 1 year ago
@shoopwhoopX it's not a very fair comparison, the GB costs 2-4 times the cost of a gerber/ fiskars
