Negreneau is an ass here he gets so wet at an opportunity to make phil look like a bad/disrespectful player that he calls him out for slow rolling when he obviously didn't, phil played the hand spot on and was kind enough to offer him 4 goes at it despite the black dude obviously thinking he had phil beat before he called.
Phil did nothing wrong. He wanted the rest of the guy's money, and they are criticizing him for acting to get it. That's his job. It was not a slow roll.
hellmuths reaction after the the hand if very very funny.....not only his reaction but the way he tells Tony G to stop talking about him(tony plz SHUT UP!!)
I'm pretty sure Laak, Negreneau, and Tony G are all gay lovers who probably give each other handjobs under the table. Seriously, these guys get so giddy when Phil gets upset... they just sit there and giggle and egg him on.. they act like fucking girls.
@skinnman1 ofc phil hellmuth behaviour when he calls people idiots and stuff is not ok, but that has nothing to do with that hand lol. "bout time he got some shit thrown back at him" ? you gotta be kiddin, no1 gets needled as much as hellmuth every time he is in a cashgame nowdays
these pro's are so outta line all dancing and screaming and high fiving when a guy just got super unlucky. if they see it on tv they'll know it wasnt a slowroll, as PH said the cannon had like 40k left so he wasnt commited at all and these guys should know PH well enough to know that he is genuinly worried about 10s full here. and even if he wasnt thinking about folding, who can blaim him for trying to get the cannon put the rest of his money in? i bet they'll feel really bad if they see iton TV
NOT a slowroll. there was no guarantee that the loose cannon would call if hellmuth went all in, he's a loose cannon afterall ffs. he did well to try and talk him into calling for quite a long time just incase he had a weaker hand than he did. i dont even like hellmuth, so dont make a habit of defending him, but tony g and laak were total f@ckwits here.
You can't really slowroll somebody without the 1st nuts so I don't know what everyone is talking about 1010 was in the guys range because he played the Kings so passively.
Here's one odd time when Helmuth is right and Negreanu, Laak, and Tony G are all wrong... on all accounts. He made a good 3-bet preflop because he correctly put Brunson and Tony G on mediocre hands... then trapped the loose cannon into thinking his KK was golden... then ran it multiple times to ensure he would win most or all of the pot, and put the loose cannon at a ridiculously low stack. NOT a slowroll, he showed as soon as the loose cannon said "call" and flipped his hand over.
well the thing those three was saying was that that acting was not necessary. the loose cannon was already in - he was not folding no matter what. but it was OK imo. those three just wanted to put Phil on tilt - it's good to play againts tilted player.
the concept of a slow roll is so stupid - I'll take as much or as little time as I want no matter how strong my hand is and no matter what the action is or what the decision is - who fuckin cares how long someone takes - u win or lose, u have some certain EV - it doesn't matter how long u fuckin take - wtf are ppl talking about - 'slow roll'? wtf is that?

@v1cious Its still sick to wait that long with trip 9's.. nuts was pocket 10.. well then you got owned, and just say: Nice hand. But you cant wait that long!
justice served, the ONLY hand that would have had hellmuth beat is tens full. You know you are a douchebag when your fellow professionals high five and congratulate an amateur on a brutal suckout.
i hate tony g in this vid. he has absolutely no class, like the time he got some russian guy to call his all in with KJ and then wouldnt fucking shut up. there is nothing likeable about him.
phil was really unlucky here. he only lacks class when people play shit poker. and we all hate fish poker players.
@dothequack Tony G is classless, but he's right in this instance. Phill H is a big hypocrite and karma came around to bite him in the ass in this case. If anyone else had called with A9 against a big preflop raise when Phil had KK and got lucky, he would be doing his typical rant and shitting a brick. But if he does it, then it's ok. 2ndly, even if the guy was a newb and Phil got slow rolled, he woulda went ape shit. In the end, Phil got guilted into doing multiple runs, like an idiot.
I don't think this really was a slow roll. The guy could've had tens full like phil says. Phil didnt have the absolute nuts. It's not rocket science here folks.
@blaynestaleypro Hahahahahahahha you're seriously defending his tens full excuse....no matter what happens, once the flop comes there is absolutely no chance Phil is ever folding there nor any other intelligent human being with trips and the nut kicker. Even if he did turn over 10 10 it's still the correct move and no pro would ever argue otherwise it's just a cooler. This was the definition of a slow roll and everyone knew it....including Phil....thanks for the chuckles though
@JDB42 That's why you'll never win anything at poker. There is no such thing as a "correct move". If he did have tens full then the correct move would be for phil to fold. I'm sick of these idiot smart asses who think they know the game. It's all about intuition. Didn't you see the episode later on where the cannon folded a pair of Aces and Laak ended up catching quads? Was that stupid of him to fold As? Moron.
@blaynestaleypro Hah you seriously just blew my mind. Poker is all about the numbers and the correct moves you make with those numbers. I didn't see the Laak situation but if he folded Aces when he was ahead then he indeed was stupid to fold (Laak is already a pretty horrible/stupid player anyways). I'm not even gonna talk about intuition because obviously from your statement you don't understand what the term means. And fwiw I paid 2 years of tuition from online poker winnings (about $50k).
@JDB42 What I meant was that the only correct move is the one that'll win you games as far as I'm concerned and anyone who is serious about poker should be concerned. The correct move is the intuitive one sometimes which always supersedes logic because it's always right. Recognizing it is the hard part.
@blaynestaleypro Lol wrong again....the correct move is the one that statistically makes you the most money...I'm pretty sure getting in ahead makes you the most money. If someone sucks out on you, you still made the statistically correct play but variance just slapped you in the face....good play, move onto the next game. If you fold when you're ahead because you "think" he's gonna catch...you're thought process is not only incorrect but incredibly stupid. Enjoy the 1cent/2cent tables lawl
@JDB42 Poker is not just about the numbers at all. That's what a lot of people think but that's not correct. I've won a decent amount of money my first tournament and it wasn't because I played the numbers, pal. You can't always count on statistics because poker statistics are probability not certainty. Probability isn't always going to win you hands. Like I said the only correct move is the one that'll win you the hand.
@blaynestaleypro Congratulations...your stupidity continues to amaze me. Obviously poker involves a multitude of aspects besides the numbers, but getting in ahead when statistically more likely to win is obviously the correct way to go about things. Again obviously this is not possible because no one can play "perfect" poker. However, for you to even suggest that all the "good" poker pros go by gut and not numbers such as pot odds and hand ranges is not only untrue it is completely moronic.
@JDB42 Of course you should get in ahead when statistically more likely to win. I never said that you shouldn't do that. I never said all good poker players go by gut either. All I'm saying is that going by intuition is just as valid as playing the odds. and you shouldn't give Hellmuth shit if he had a feeling that what's his face had tens full. For all you know he could've been right but obviously he wasn't. Hellmuth just has a tendency to overthink I think.
@JDB42 As far as I'm concerned if someone sucks out on me but I made the statistically correct play then I made a bad move. That's how I play because to me there is more than statistics and frankly those that play using their intuition are far more successful than those that don't. Hey, you don't believe in this "feeling" nonsense, good for you, congratulations. See, I'm not talking about poker. I'm talking about the secret to life itself. That's why I like poker so much. Poker is evolution ;)
@blaynestaleypro Oh and by the way congratulations on your ONE tournament cash compared to my 5 year span of decently profitable poker. You must be right...I'll give up on my logical playing style for your "gut feeling" trying to guess what the river card style. I'm sure I'm about to see a HUUUUGGEEE surge in profits. Seriously gtfo, read a book, quit being stupid, and please for the love of god don't play higher than 1/2 at the felt. L8ERS
@blaynestaleypro "I just started playing real money poker last year and I don't play on a regular basis either." It all makes sense now....please refrain from trying to talk about your "feelings" to any fellow poker amateurs because even they will never let you hear the end of it. Your stupidity will shock the world....go my son...and be all the stupid.
@JDB42 I don't fold when I'm ahead because I "think" he's gonna catch. I do it cause I feel like he's gonna catch. And you know what? a lot of the times I'm right and I saved myself. Like I said all that matters is winning. It's not a wasted effort, in fact, it's in your best interest to invest time and energy to figure out what this "feeling" is and how to properly sense it and not be afraid to act on it. And the better you are at it the better you play. Don't take my word for it. Try it.
@blaynestaleypro This "feeling" you have is nerves or maybe diarrhea. It comes from the fact that you are the fish at any table you play at but are unaware that everyone else around you has realized it and can't wait to get in pots with you. You really have no clue what intuition means at all. How old are you? At first I thought you were some old geezer since you don't understand basic poker strategy but now I'm leading towards 12. Amiright?
@blaynestaleypro Actually yeah I am going to define intuition for you cause I kinda feel sorry for you. Intuition is your gut feeling of what your opponent is holding (and more likely what range of hands your opponent is holding). It is not as you seem to the think what cards you think are coming lol. That idea is completely insane and please refrain from further spewing it on the interwebz.
@JDB42 it's a combination of your gut feeling of what cards your opponent has and what's coming. "The idea is completely insane" right, you just can't grasp it. I know, don't worry maybe one day. Try meditating.
I got Hellmuths back on this 110% and I'm not even a fan of his. He didnt slow roll at all that idiot flipped his hand over like he had quads, but he only had 2 pair. Hellmuth was pondering if he could have been beat (which is almost always a possibility in poker). That moron is lucky Hellmuth was being nice and let him stay alive by running it more than once.
Omg that's the best Hellmuth video on YT. Perhaps the best poker video on YT.
I lol'd so hard at that. Love Phil but he kind of deserved that. Btw, didnt he get pissed @ Devilfish for doing the same thing when he had AA vs Phil's 99? Then Phil was the one who sucked out.

First off I can't stand Hellmuth. I really can't. But that was not a slow roll. He flipped his cards within 3 seconds. Come on... As far as the rest of the table, that was real unprofessional to rub it in. BUT Hellmuth totally deserves as this guy demeans people all the time.
First of all Phil is such a crybaby when he loses that he deserves to get some back. Although in this situation I think they are all friendly and they are playing a cash game so they are just having fun. I do not think they would have acted like that if this was a tournament. Jeez people let them have some good times.
LOL its true. A9 what a twat hellmuth really is, and he has answered it himself why ppl think he's such a loser by saying thats the way he plays poker.
WE ALL KNOW THIS PHIL AND THATS WHY WE LAUGH AT YOU !!!
@TarWoman In cash games they are allowed to do these agreements between them. They decided to run the Turn and River 4 times so that in case Wiggins hits an outer it would be ugly suckout and with 4 runs both have a chance to get a piece of the pot .In this case 4 runs it means 1 won run is 25% of the pot. Incredibly Wiggins won 3 times and got 75% of the pot.
Look at Brunson. Thats how you should act in this situation, no matter who the person is getting bad beat, you should act like Brunson. The others are just being arrogant like Helmuth, albeit on the other end of the spectrum.
@Venomonia not really. with the raise preflop you wouldnt pur a professional poker player on a 9, unles he has a pair of them which flopping quads in highly unlikely. if hellmuth had AA he would have shoved preflop so you can be pretty certain on that flop your KK is winning and it would be like 85%-90% of the time. it serves hellmuth right for being a donk with the A9
Not a slowroll. Wiggins still has a large stack behind. Acting weak to induce your opponent to call is standard. Anyway, even if he DID slowroll why would anyone feel sorry for Wiggins? Guy is an absolute fucking moron and deserves to be proverbially raped. Every player at the table was trying to exploit him, including the guys actiing like his best friend in this clip. Douchebags.
People got out of line here, acting like idiots cheering and rooting when someone gets bad beat that many times. If I was Phil I would have punched someone.
@DevilBoyVex If you've seen Phil play with others over the years and how he's treated other players, especially amateurs in the World Series, you would know why others had that reaction.
And further, for any of you who say that the dude is pot commited and has to call if Phil bets, and thus the 40 seconds are actually unethical, I have this to say.
An amateur is quite likely that a proffesional to muck in a committed situation, thus some "hollywood" is clearly ok. Secondly, the guy with kings need to win 24% of the time. He only has 14-15% against a nine, 13-14% against aces, 8-9% against a house.
This isn't slowrolling, he announced three nines immediately.
Slowrolling is when you let someone believe they've won by taking a long time to flip your cards over when it is your turn to do so at showdown. This is unethical.
For those thinking that Phils 40 seconds of stalling before going all-in is a slowroll, you are just wrong. That ain't slowrolling and, even more important, not unethical. Taking your time with a hard choise and acting fast with the nuts is a good way to lose money.
@GustafSjoblom Hahahah, it's not a hard choice at all, not in one million years would Hellmuth ever fold his hand. It WAS a slowroll, but caused by a lack of insight in the game making him unsure for no rational reason whatsoever, so it wasn't bad ethics at the cause.
And unlike you stated, this is of course NOT a tournament but a cashgame.
The dealer has been kindly given by jokerstars...

slow roll - To turn over a winning hand in a non-timely fashion,
usually done by sleazy players to annoy opponents
weird, it doesn't say nothing about acting weak before moving all in so the villain can make a bad read and call.

That's so fucking sick lol, poor phil, and Daniel lol, i think he really like when hellmuth is crying...
swisdude18 8 months ago
i hate tony g in this vid. he has absolutely no class, like the time he got some russian guy to call his all in with KJ and then wouldnt fucking shut up. there is nothing likeable about him.
phil was really unlucky here. he only lacks class when people play shit poker. and we all hate fish poker players.
dothequack 8 months ago
@dothequack I guess you hate money then?
Alieaz 8 months ago
@dothequack Tony G is classless, but he's right in this instance. Phill H is a big hypocrite and karma came around to bite him in the ass in this case. If anyone else had called with A9 against a big preflop raise when Phil had KK and got lucky, he would be doing his typical rant and shitting a brick. But if he does it, then it's ok. 2ndly, even if the guy was a newb and Phil got slow rolled, he woulda went ape shit. In the end, Phil got guilted into doing multiple runs, like an idiot.
l7le 8 months ago
@l7le well he didn't actually call a big preflop raise with A9. He was the raiser and the KK called

@JDB42 What the hell do you know about intuition?
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago
4 times, very on 9 move!
John19800612 8 months ago
I don't think this really was a slow roll. The guy could've had tens full like phil says. Phil didnt have the absolute nuts. It's not rocket science here folks.
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago
@blaynestaleypro Hahahahahahahha you're seriously defending his tens full excuse....no matter what happens, once the flop comes there is absolutely no chance Phil is ever folding there nor any other intelligent human being with trips and the nut kicker. Even if he did turn over 10 10 it's still the correct move and no pro would ever argue otherwise it's just a cooler. This was the definition of a slow roll and everyone knew it....including Phil....thanks for the chuckles though
JDB42 8 months ago
@JDB42 That's why you'll never win anything at poker. There is no such thing as a "correct move". If he did have tens full then the correct move would be for phil to fold. I'm sick of these idiot smart asses who think they know the game. It's all about intuition. Didn't you see the episode later on where the cannon folded a pair of Aces and Laak ended up catching quads? Was that stupid of him to fold As? Moron.
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago
@blaynestaleypro Hah you seriously just blew my mind. Poker is all about the numbers and the correct moves you make with those numbers. I didn't see the Laak situation but if he folded Aces when he was ahead then he indeed was stupid to fold (Laak is already a pretty horrible/stupid player anyways). I'm not even gonna talk about intuition because obviously from your statement you don't understand what the term means. And fwiw I paid 2 years of tuition from online poker winnings (about $50k).
JDB42 8 months ago
@JDB42 What I meant was that the only correct move is the one that'll win you games as far as I'm concerned and anyone who is serious about poker should be concerned. The correct move is the intuitive one sometimes which always supersedes logic because it's always right. Recognizing it is the hard part.
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago

Like I said the only correct move is the one that'll win you the hand.
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago
@blaynestaleypro Congratulations...your stupidity continues to amaze me. Obviously poker involves a multitude of aspects besides the numbers, but getting in ahead when statistically more likely to win is obviously the correct way to go about things. Again obviously this is not possible because no one can play "perfect" poker. However, for you to even suggest that all the "good" poker pros go by gut and not numbers such as pot odds and hand ranges is not only untrue it is completely moronic.
JDB42 8 months ago
@JDB42 Of course you should get in ahead when statistically more likely to win. I never said that you shouldn't do that. I never said all good poker players go by gut either. All I'm saying is that going by intuition is just as valid as playing the odds. and you shouldn't give Hellmuth shit if he had a feeling that what's his face had tens full. For all you know he could've been right but obviously he wasn't. Hellmuth just has a tendency to overthink I think.
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago
@JDB42 As far as I'm concerned if someone sucks out on me but I made the statistically correct play then I made a bad move. That's how I play because to me there is more than statistics and frankly those that play using their intuition are far more successful than those that don't. Hey, you don't believe in this "feeling" nonsense, good for you, congratulations. See, I'm not talking about poker. I'm talking about the secret to life itself. That's why I like poker so much. Poker is evolution ;)
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago
@blaynestaleypro Oh and by the way congratulations on your ONE tournament cash compared to my 5 year span of decently profitable poker. You must be right...I'll give up on my logical playing style for your "gut feeling" trying to guess what the river card style. I'm sure I'm about to see a HUUUUGGEEE surge in profits. Seriously gtfo, read a book, quit being stupid, and please for the love of god don't play higher than 1/2 at the felt. L8ERS

@JDB42 You can do whatever you want. I could care less. I just started playing real money poker last year and I don't play on a regular basis either.

JDB42 8 months ago
@JDB42 I don't fold when I'm ahead because I "think" he's gonna catch. I do it cause I feel like he's gonna catch. And you know what? a lot of the times I'm right and I saved myself. Like I said all that matters is winning. It's not a wasted effort, in fact, it's in your best interest to invest time and energy to figure out what this "feeling" is and how to properly sense it and not be afraid to act on it. And the better you are at it the better you play. Don't take my word for it. Try it.
blaynestaleypro 8 months ago

JDB42 8 months ago
@JDB42 it's a combination of your gut feeling of what cards your opponent has and what's coming. "The idea is completely insane" right, you just can't grasp it. I know, don't worry maybe one day. Try meditating.

I got Hellmuths back on this 110% and I'm not even a fan of his. He didnt slow roll at all that idiot flipped his hand over like he had quads, but he only had 2 pair. Hellmuth was pondering if he could have been beat (which is almost always a possibility in poker). That moron is lucky Hellmuth was being nice and let him stay alive by running it more than once.
robrules101 8 months ago
Omg that's the best Hellmuth video on YT. Perhaps the best poker video on YT.
I lol'd so hard at that. Love Phil but he kind of deserved that. Btw, didnt he get pissed @ Devilfish for doing the same thing when he had AA vs Phil's 99? Then Phil was the one who sucked out.

Man, shows you what constitutes as a "slowroll" these days... silly.
However, with all the bad beats Phil us used to catching, I can't believe he had the balls to do this. Why are you such a moron, Phil? lol.
Also, love Phil Laak being irrelevant as usual.

Jeez people let them have some good times.

hellmuth "this is the way i play poker"
tony g "this is not a good move"
LOL its true. A9 what a twat hellmuth really is, and he has answered it himself why ppl think he's such a loser by saying thats the way he plays poker.
WE ALL KNOW THIS PHIL AND THATS WHY WE LAUGH AT YOU !!!

Why do they replay the Turn & River?
I don't know this was of playing. What is it?
TarWoman 9 months ago
@TarWoman In cash games they are allowed to do these agreements between them. They decided to run the Turn and River 4 times so that in case Wiggins hits an outer it would be ugly suckout and with 4 runs both have a chance to get a piece of the pot .In this case 4 runs it means 1 won run is 25% of the pot. Incredibly Wiggins won 3 times and got 75% of the pot.
TheSharKBG 9 months ago
Look at Brunson. Thats how you should act in this situation, no matter who the person is getting bad beat, you should act like Brunson. The others are just being arrogant like Helmuth, albeit on the other end of the spectrum.
BraceletAccumulatrT2 9 months ago 3
he was a bad reader, he should have fold his kings, but then again poker is all about luck after a stupid caller :)
Venomonia 9 months ago

Douchebags.

@DevilBoyVex If you've seen Phil play with others over the years and how he's treated other players, especially amateurs in the World Series, you would know why others had that reaction.
ricepaddy69 10 months ago
@DevilBoyVex Yea me too !! I would´ve breaked Negreanus bones and throw Laak in a trash can head down.
SuperTowlie1 8 months ago
And further, for any of you who say that the dude is pot commited and has to call if Phil bets, and thus the 40 seconds are actually unethical, I have this to say.
An amateur is quite likely that a proffesional to muck in a committed situation, thus some "hollywood" is clearly ok. Secondly, the guy with kings need to win 24% of the time. He only has 14-15% against a nine, 13-14% against aces, 8-9% against a house.
And this is a tournament. He CAN fold.
Phils 40 seconds and talk is warranted.
GustafSjoblom 10 months ago
This isn't slowrolling, he announced three nines immediately.
Slowrolling is when you let someone believe they've won by taking a long time to flip your cards over when it is your turn to do so at showdown. This is unethical.
For those thinking that Phils 40 seconds of stalling before going all-in is a slowroll, you are just wrong. That ain't slowrolling and, even more important, not unethical. Taking your time with a hard choise and acting fast with the nuts is a good way to lose money.
GustafSjoblom 10 months ago
@GustafSjoblom Hahahah, it's not a hard choice at all, not in one million years would Hellmuth ever fold his hand. It WAS a slowroll, but caused by a lack of insight in the game making him unsure for no rational reason whatsoever, so it wasn't bad ethics at the cause.
And unlike you stated, this is of course NOT a tournament but a cashgame.
