  • did it have a Pennsy 3-chime when it did this run?

  • How in the can the fireman keep up with such a hungry firebox. They really get that locomotive moving!

  • If only the WMSR had a passenger roster like that!!

  • The horses pacing 425 was one of the best scenes!

  • @Kleman09 I second that remark!! Best Scene, and really well done!

  • Have recently become a fan of the 425 over the past year. My son who is 4 LOVES steam engines and my husband and I have grown to love the 425 more than our son! Are you going to have a video up from the Tunkhannock excursion over this past weekend? BTW, your videos are the best hands down compared to others. So professional. We chased it this weekend and it was exhilarating! Cab shots are unbelievable too!

  • Your videos are all great, but this one is our favorite, from the horses running along and tripping (And kicking each other), to the shot at the 4:12 mark when it enters the tunnel and you cut right to the cab with the noise and bouncing around, to the shot at the end with the kayakers in the water. Just great. I like the shaky cab. Ride looks so smooth from the side of the track, so it's fun to see how non-smooth it is in the cab.

  • what is the man in the cab wearing black doing?

  • wow i forgot how great this video is......its still great!:):):):)

  • I would love to hand fire something going that fast.

  • !:D

  • Interesting that she has a front end throttle.

  • whats the difference?

  • How do you mean?

  • what is a front end throttle

  • A front end throttle is one that is located in the smokebox and DOES NOT control the steam flowing into the superheaters as a dome throttle does. Front end throttles give much better contol of the engine than a dome throttle.

  • I take it most modern engines have front end throttles? And thanks for the explanation.

  • this has got to be the best video of the 425 i have ever seen. great shots, great quality, and great editing.

  • Hi. My boy is almost two and he loves to watch trains. You have to love Youtube where you can watch train footage with the click of the mouse.

Well after many hours of watching many train videos, I have come to a conclusion. You have by far the best videos. The best angles and setups. The best editing by far. Thank you for a such great pieces and sharing.

  • 40 is a good speed, 50 would've been better, But take that with a grain of sal- I remember riding behind the 2102 when she'd high-ball from Leesport to JT in the early 90s. Yes, the good old days.

All reminscing aside, this was an excellent video!

  • this is absolutely the best video ever

  • Hi,

my son and i love your videos.

    First class locomotive video.

    Thank you.....

  • Sounds like EBT 14

  • iron horse meetsreal horse

  • Joe, what is the make/model of the camcorder and editing program you used here?

    Dan

  • the best vidoe of 425 on the whole internet congrats splendid job

    LOVE IT

  • No fear of heights for the last shot! WOW that shot gives me the chills haha

Nice video, this is the first I viewed 425 in HD.

  • Wow, I love horses, that just made my day with that beginning shot. I can't believe they took her up to 50 MPH today, with no ditchlights and all, imagine the lawsuit that could come out of that...

  • We didnt go above 40, plus steam engines are exempt from ditch lights.

  • Really? Wow, I thought it applied for all locomotives above 20 MPH on a grade crossing; that's great news, thanks. I was told she reached 50 MPH, but still, 40 must have been one heck of a ride on that crappy track. Hope you had a lot of fun.

  • Best Reading and Northern 425 video on Youtube by a long shot I love it. Prefessionally done video and exciting to watch....

  • Wow. That is a FANTASTIC coooool vidow man i lke the 425 do some more man

  • Once again congratulations and thank you JoMiFu for your woderfull rail videos. This new one is very special.

  • well i think she scared them horses a wee bit

  • Wow. That is a FANTASTIC video!

Kudos to the horse that dumped it in the beginning too! lol

  • awsome video joe

  • Very enjoyable. The sound is fantastic. The lighting in the cab shots is also very good. Often, in-cab shots are back-lit and very dark, but yours photographed beautifully. Keep sharing!

  • Aside from that, great job

  • Yeah Joe, the shaking will probably be considered "normal". If you watch some Mark 1 productions with in-cab or engine-mounted shots, you will see alot of shaking.

  • Fantastic video and sound. How was your sleep when you're coming home? Do you hear the train the whole night? :-)

  • Len if you think a pacific rides rough then u have never rode on an engine without a trailing truck. The 425 is a Cadillac compared to other engines. Nice video Joe, you did the best you could with the camera setup. Kinda of a last minute thing.

  • Acdc, I've ridden in all kind of steam in my life. from 0-4-0's to 4-8-4's . I been rail fanning for close to 35 years.

    Len.

  • Who cares . . .

  • Joey!!! What a production...it was well worth the wait to view it too. Makes me wish I could have been there. I can't wait to see you work your magic in Michigan! Wait...was that a Pentrex video I just watched???

  • The horses racing shot was excellent - great movie!

  • Great video! Definitely one of the best 425 vids I've seen. I got a good laugh out of the stumbling horses at 1:35. 5***** and favorited.

  • good vid, I loved the shot with the horses, that was amazing!

  • Yeah did you see the one fall?

  • Awesome video Joe! Absolutely fantastic.

  • Haha, I liked the old whistle better. Nice vid tho.

  • Wow! Amazing work. Every shot is just great. Excellent work.

  • Thrilling!

  • one of the best videos i've ever seen keep up the great work.

    matt

  • Man Joe i must say the best video Ive ever seen with 425!!

  • joe all i have to say is wow!!!! is there more in cab stuff?

  • Yes, but it is unbearable to watch!

  • Wait a minute...YOU'RE GOING TO MICHIGAN THIS JULY AND I'M NOT? Oh, well. That's okay. Nice video, Joe. Keep 'em a-comin'.

  • one of your best videos yet!!!!!!

  • I never rode in the cab. I set up a camera rig that allowed me to position a camera in the cab... It was my first time really using it and I didn't set it up 100% correctly, thus resulting in the awful shaking.

  • Joe, your going to have shacks regardless it's mounted in a 4-6-2 . The engine rides rough to start with. So don't worrie about it. It's Great video!

    Len.

  • Shacks . . .

"Hey Shack, you left your caboose hangin' out."

Shack. Shack! SHACK. SHACK! Right-side! RIGHT SIDE!

Nobody rides Shack's train without a ticket.

    Don't "worrie" about it, Joey . . .

A#1 to Portland on the 19.

  • 1:41 awesome!...all of your angles just awesome!

  • awesome video, howd you get to go in cab?
