@FoldingTheSkyline It was designed to be a portable coaster, believe it or not. It was built in to 70's and was first in a park in Brazil, then moved to Dorney in 1985. Besides...you can move anything, portable or not, if you're willing to pay the cash to do it.

@incredibleizationify fortunately i was able to ride this ride before it was taken down along with the newer ride voodoo (possessed). to be honest even though laser was a short ride that kinda hurt i think it is better than voodoo because laser was just a classic and their always fun. ya i rode talon and hydra..talon was actually one of my first looping coasters and i loved it.

Dorney Park upgrades again with the introduction of Possessed (Not a NEW ride). Originally introduced as Voodoo (Had to change the name due to copywrite), Possessed is the first suspended linear induction impulse coaster in the Northeast.

It was not built like the other rides so since Laser was designed to be portable ride, it did not have foundations poured into the earth. Instead, the ride had many large containers built into the supports that were filled with water. The weight of these design items supported the ride......that's why they sold it finally.

And btw, the only reason thunder hawk gives neck problems is because it was the first roller coaster built in Dorney. But of course, they later remodeled the track, but its still bumpy, because its an old, wooden roller coaster!

Just a little correction here.... Laser wasn't sold to another amusement park. It was sold to the firm Rosenzweig & Meyer who will travel around Germany and visit fairs. First fairground where Laser will be is in Hamburg and it's completely repainted and has a new name called Teststrecke, which means something like Test-track.

living 10 min from dorney my whole life and worked there for 3 years i know the park inside and out.... laser was bought for the 1985 season. laser is a portable coaster ie. carnival ride. it was bought from playcenter in sao paulo, brazil. the laser fit in 16 tractor trailers once dismantaled it was sold to a park in germany and there are no plans to buld anything on that plot of land as of now.

Awful? 0-80 in 3 seconds is awful? I dunno man, maybe it wasn't worth the wait for a short ride but I can't say it was awful. If anything, Shockwave at PKD was awful, I only rode it just to say I did. XLC was a great ride only closed for maintainence reasons
