I don't like war, I don't think anyone does but sometimes it's necissary. The war with Iraq was started illegally but even though it was illegal there was still things that needed to be done there. The soldiers fought for the freedom that they could bring the people but the polititions fought for money. I use the past tense because I'm scottish and Brittain pulled out of Iraq a while back.

The 2nd is talking about what were taught in the military, we ask them to stop and if they dont obey, we are suppose to use force because they could have a bomb vest or something along those lines on. I lost my cousin in Afganistan. This song really hits home with me. But I agree with neopaladin17. War is a game that we all play to desctract ourselves from our own petty issues. I don't like war, I don't think anyone does but sometimes it's necissary. The war with Iraq was started illegally but even though it was illegal there was still things that needed to be done there. The soldiers fought for the freedom that they could bring the people but the polititions fought for money. I use the past tense because I'm scottish and Brittain pulled out of Iraq a while back.

@MissKatieBugg1-The first one is referring to the inhumane ways of torture some military members have used... some made the news, but thats what theyre talking about.
The 2nd is talking about what were taught in the military, we ask them to stop and if they dont obey, we are suppose to use force because they could have a bomb vest or something along those lines on. So the song was telling how she didnt listen so he shot her, he noticed afterwards that she had a white flag (flag of surrender)

I think the worst thing about war is that people forget they're being trained to kill other people. Generally we put those people behind bars and call em murderers. But if you put them in a uniform, and slap a flag across their backs they become heroes? Go figure.

I saw a report today that said that since 2004 majority of women in Fallujah have been giving birth to children with birth defects, so much so that authorities have told them to stop having kids- that's a whole generation destroyed. Long term affects of a soldiers actions. You may shoot in defence but how do you reconcile your actions when you're on the attack? "Just following orders"?

I lost my cousin in Afganistan. This song really hits home with me. But I agree with neopaladin17. War is a game that we all play to desctract ourselves from our own petty issues. There will always be war. Where there is humanity there will be bloodshed. Its just the way we live. We are corrupt and dangerous and we will never change.

my big brother just enlisten to the military. he leaves for afghanistan in 6 months. i can't help but thinking he's gonna come home dead. i hate military, all they do is take these boys and girls, (and dont even FUCKING give them any type of armer, they have to buy it them selves, but they say hey at least you'll carrry a badass gun) and send them out to die. i'm so lucky my uncle was in the military, because if he wasn't, my brother wouldnt even have a kevlar fucking vest.

thank you perry this is one subject i am very passionate about. and alex this song isnt so much honouring soldiers as it is putting the things the have to do that arent great under a microscope. no soldier should be proud about having to gundown a woman and they certainly shouldnt have to turn on their radio and hear someone who will never experience the hardships of war singing about it as though theyve lived through it themselves.
