  • AIDSburger in paradise

  • Great, Jimmy!

  • I always knew Buffet was talented. When I seen Southern Cross by Buffet, I thought Oh No he can't do it. Then I listened, and learned he is more talented than I thought. He did an awesome job, not as great as the original, but still awesome in it's own way.

  • Not nearly as great as the original (vocal harmonies) but Jimmy still makes it fun! He is great in concert. :-D

  • I've been a Buffett fan my entire life. I'm only fourteen and went to my first concert at the age of four, but I have become a ParrotHead (Well a parakeet ;P) Either way, it's ridiculous to say that this man doesn't add energy to the music and songs he sings. The Coral Reefers have inspired me and gotten me through some tough times. I wish I could tell Jimmy how happy his music has made me and the strength the music has given me.

  • 21 of you are fucking retarded

  • huge CSN fan, Buffet kills it! Ima light up to this Jimbo

  • Battletard...get a f'n clue.

  • Reading all this crap about this song...does anyone get it seriously?

  • Could as happy-go-lucky a guy as Jimmy Buffett miss a woman that much, though? Hard to imagine him broken-hearted (remember, this is one he didn't write himself). Oh, it really doesn't matter, the song has plenty of references to sailing and music, two things Mr. Buffett knows a helluva lot about! I love his version, too, even though the CSN original is (slightly) superior.

  • hay the dead where diffrent but the man likes to entertain an he is good at it

  • fantastic song singer and clip

  • 21 people are the people our parents warned us about

  • fun stuff.... perhaps steven stills wrote this for Jimmy!

  • God I love this song. thanks for posting.

  • Jimmy does a nice job of CS & N cover! If you would like to hear another Great cover, search youtube Nucleus Southern Cross, this band does a Great job at this song! The band is 3 brothers, their vocals are Unbelievable!!! You won't regret taking a couple minutes to check out their version! Nucleus doesn't have as many hits or subscriptions as some other bands because they refuse to use the "fake subscription program" for a fake audience. It will Truly be worth your time to check them out!

  • Wow. Amazing audio for a camera in the crowd.

  • @xenoloco That's not the audio from the camera. The camera footage is completely unrelated.

  • With all due respect to C S & N. . .I gotta say I totally enjoyed this version ! ! ! Jimmy always seems to put his happy spin on everything. . .

  • Saw Buffett one time in the 80's when Little Feat opened up for him @ Mann Music Center in Philly. Now ya can't get a ticket for the dude!

Anyhow, the Dude Sails boats, Flies planes, Writes books, has a Sirius/XM channel, and Plays music to huge audiences whenever he wants.

Sounds like he doesn't have time to be a Hatin' Internet Assassin. He's too busy Lovin' Life. It's gotta pump you up just thinkin how cool the dude is.

    :: Deadhead like Parrothead Boobies @2:52 :-)

  • cwd68 is an idiot.

  • @Pup99100 LOL

  • i love it.

  • you ain"t lyin parrotheads rule

  • Who lives life better than jimmy buffet? He's got it figured out.

  • i saw boobies!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a great cover, by a great artist, of a great song....

  • jimmy buffet is awesome used to live in florida for many years grew up w/ him have seen the southern cross

  • jimmy buffet is awesome used to live in florida for many years grew up w/ him

  • Scooter cooler at 2:40

  • He does this song justice.

  • nice beat

  • this wouldve been a very nice surprise to see at one of his concerts, hes trying to make us happy, shut the fuck up with the negative comments, this style of music is no place for it, go back to your hip-hop or metal videos to plague shit with your lack of musical sense and knowledge, this is fucking classic, have a margarita and mellow the fuck out.....cant believe the criticism for such a 'chill' musician

  • @SurfThrashGuitar This song was played at his concert in Vegas last month. Was surprised to hear it and loved it more than before :)

  • If you have a problem with this cover of the song then why are you clicking the link and watching this. But hey, trolls gonna troll.

  • I'm sorry, but Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers do this better than Crosby, Stills and Nash ever dreamed of, in my humble opinion.

  • I really like this cover overall, but the organ was a little much.

  • The real question is how many artists can do an acceptable or better cover of a song over the original?? I can only think of 1 Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" by NIN

personally i like Jimmy's version of this song because of his sailing roots and love for the ocean. say something nice or shut up

  • @otterchap Hendrix's cover of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"....

  • Let's all be honest here: I must say I prefer the CSNY version, but seriously, this song is whole lots of awesome but insane to replicate. I challenge anyone here do a better cover than Jimmy. Thank you CSNY, congratulations Mr. Buffett.

  • what a great song, too bad buffet got a hold of it...

  • @hempartist420 Fuck off ive said my piece

  • @computerssuck100 a jimmy buffet fan? scum of the earth

  • buffet is a sailor. thats what this song is about. if anyone should cover this song its him. he did an excellent job

  • classics become popular throughout time because people recognize talent, and they cover these songs and other people realize "hey this music is bangin, who is it", and then you got Parrotheads

  • One of the best covers ever! Thanks Jimmy.....

  • Ok Damn it I'm 23 i sail and I love buffet. I like CSNY version the best BUT these are lyrics my man Jimmy could have wrote and at his age now he should be able to do whatever song he wants cause nobody sings better. His voice has barely changed. Besides they should stay in Ohio with those poor college kids and Jimmy Buffet don't need a Southern Man around anyhow.

  • If anyone has a right to cover this song, it's Jimmy Buffett. It's an uplifting song and I think he did it justice.

  • @kockykaveman Then why did you watch and listen to this???

  • Comment removed

  • @kockykaveman Jimmy Buffett is one of the most, if not THE most, successful touring acts out there today. If you don't get or like it that's fine, live and let live. You don't have to hate on Jimmy and the millions of fans that do get and enjoy his music. What's the point?

  • @kockykaveman Hey kiddo this is a tough song to sing ...why do you think it was originally done by a trio? think you can do a better job. Why dont you upload your cover and let us rate you?

  • @kockykaveman FUCK YOU

  • Ive experienced his fore concert parties like the one shown. They kickass!!

  • This Parrothead seen him in Wis last month, rock it Jimmy!

  • best boat music. Jimmy Buffet

  • This song rocks! Hope to see Jimmy live someday.

  • California Avalon, Jerry and every thing good loves you Brother!!!

  • I'm sorry if I offend any CSN&Y fans out there but I absolutely cannot stand them. Their voices grate on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard. Jimmy really didn't do that many covers and I've been listening to him for years. He pretty much only does Southern Cross and Brown Eyed Girl at concerts now. Remember most bands when they first get started, with the exception of a very few, did covers of other groups work. I guess I'm still a parakeet at 54 I don't drink LOL! Thanks for the info!

  • Only thing rong withh this video is that there r pasties on those boobies

  • Been living life like a Parrothead for 22 years....

  • Only been a Parrothead for like 6 years, now I go all out and get Pirated up and get to see the boobies at the concerts!

  • @THEGAMESAREA21 One of the many great pleasures out going to a JImmy buffett concert!!

  • I love Jimmy and his style but if you like this song you need to hear Crosby Stills and Nash's version it is my favorite song by them

  • Good job there kiddo. Can't go wrong with Jimmy Buffett. (I'm Jamming on my 12 Pencil Thin Moustache Starts in D )

  • Jimmy is the man!!! His music has a unique sound/style Freeking happy. Listen to any of his songs and one is guaranteed to be in a better mood, Aaaaww Right!!!

  • Which concert is this from? This is the version that is on my Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays album.

  • I am that "woman-girl who knows love can endure". BTW, D. N. Rippeth, no one has ever 'come along and made me forget about lovin' you'. I'll take that summer of 1981 to my grave.

  • Comment removed

  • I am that 'woman-girl who knows love can endure', just not for me.

  • Good audio, I can forgive the video. It feels like I am at the concert!

  • Good audio, I can forgive the video.

  • I was disappointed when I first went to Buffet and heard all the cover songs he does. But they have grown on me. Now I think southern cross is Buffet's best live song.

  • Couldn't stand this cover at first, but it is growing on me day by day...

  • Yes, Jimmy does a lot of covers. But if you focus just on the songs, you miss the bigger purpose. Jimmy is about a way of life...the Parrothead way. He's about making sure everyone relaxes and has a good time through life and that we don't all walk around with a lit stick of dynamite up our asses. He puts on an AMAZING concert, and Margaritaville Cafe is the greatest restaurant experience EVER.

If you can't understand that, you take life way too seriously.

  • @MrTVTL A BIG AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!!!! He is something in music alot of people can't understand, ESPECIALLY IN THE AGE OF HIP/HOP/RAP/KILL/HATE/DESTROY GENERATION!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Great quality video, better than most of them on here. Nice job!

  • @battlemouse1

Okay, you know... I don't know what the hell you guys are talking about but from a third party perspective, you're playing an internet tough guy and thus making an ass of yourself too. I don't care for your opinionated argument, but please don't be a hypocrite. If you think someone's an idiot, just ignore them.

  • seriously... I don't think there is a song this man has done that I don't full on LOVE!!!!!

  • I'd love to meet you at a party someday Zellmerfudd just to see if you run your internet mouth in person like you do behind your computer screen...

  • You know what Fudd, you are an idiot that just loves an internet fight. If you all read my posts, I never said once that I don't like Jimmy Buffet. I said that some classics need to be left alone. You really think that I was a Bass Drummer in a Marching Band since 1984?? You're an idiot and you are showing your true colors more and more with each post you make. I like Jimmy but you are missing the entire point of what I was saying.

  • <--- 80ft of Waterline, nicely making wake.

Yeah...it's a CSNY cover but it's still an amazing song.

Parrothead since ... well ... the beginning of time.

  • Having read a few of these posts and acknowledging I'm not a Parrothead though I think of Jimmy fondly. Battlemouse has misunderstood a particularly important and rather obvious fact. He may have been a drummer since 1984, no reason to doubt him on that but....noooooo body knows who he is therefore his disdain for Jimmy is no more relevant than another person appreciation. You're just another guy with an opinion. You don't like Jimmy...people get it..move along.

  • ALPINE VALLEY IN TWO DAYS! FINS UP

  • @battlemouse lol...sounds like some little man is jealous of another's success. You've been in a band since '84 and not a single hit, but you mock a guy who is one of the all time greats. Such a small, little man...

  • You just don't know when to quit, your opinions are only that, your opinions. No, I don't have any hits because I am not in a band that is big like guns and roses or anything like that, but I am in a band and we do quite well and have since 84. You are just a parrot head and you are really starting to show your ass as one.

  • @battlemouse1 How many hits do you have?

  • You are correct cwd68. You have no clue about music. Can you fill a stadium of 100,000 + anywhere you go? Keep drumming to your own beat. You'll get there. devoted parrothead.

  • @battlemouse1 .............Jimmy Buffett's covers are better than most of the originals...And this sure as hell is BETTER....

  • @battlemouse1 he doesn't have a lot of hits, but he also doesn't have a lot of covers. If you don't know about him don't talk about him. And playing the bass drum in a marching band doesn't count as being a drummer...

  • @battlemouse1 You feel better about yourself after posting that? This is tons better than the original and if you don't like it keep it to yourself.

  • @battlemouse1 Well How many Hits did Warren Zevon have? How many the stevie ray vaughan have? Guess that should be forgotting too not enough hits, right.

Go back to your hit making Lady Gaga and leave the real music alone.

  • @battlemouse1 If you dont know anything about music then keep your mouth shut cause Jimmy has had over 30 Albums From songs he has written!!

  • @battlemouse1 Seriously?

  • @battlemouse1 FINS VOLCANO MARGARITA VILL PENCIL THIN MUSTACHE THERES MORE THAN 2 BRO, PLUS I LIKE HIS VERSION OF BROWNED EYED GIRL BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL

  • @battlemouse1 hey man why do u hate

  • @battlemouse1 honestly, I love CSN, but Buffet's catalog is much larger than theirs. In fact, it's huge.

  • @battlemouse1 FUCK YOU

  • Oh man Battlemouse. Chill. It's called a COVER. He does covers that are right up there with his own material. Plus, this blows away the last time I saw CSN do it, which wasn't bad, just not spirited like this. (And they really can't harmonize on it in person like on the Daylight Again album, which was just artificially produced, with Timothy B. Schmit, not David Crosby, on it.) 'Hard to believe' your ridiculous atitude. Buffett has earned his four decades of accolades. Try ex-lax.

  • Wow, 17 people are Parrot Buttheads....

  • Seeing him Tuesday!

  • cant wait 2 see his concert this july at blossom

  • I want to play with that skull face.

  • Love it!!!

  • 16 people have never seen the southern cross.

  • Buffet was there, C,S,&N wasn't...good song, entertained the crowd, didn't see anyone there not having a good time. What else ya want?

  • I'm 13 and I'm a huge Buffett fan, along with my parents. This man is so talented!

Thumbs up for parrotheads and parakeets like me! ;)

  • i love the energy he brings to this song but i gotta say im sorry but im still giving the edge to crosby stills nash young

  • Great Camera Work, great sound too !

  • I have had this Song stuck in my head all week! i'm not complaining

  • @cwd68 I was at this show where you got the fooage it was a gelitte stadium

  • this and uncle john's band are better than the originals

  • @Celestatiune for sure

  • I've been a Parrothead since birth. Proud to say that my first concert ever was Jimmy when I was in only 4th grade. I wish my generation appreciated good music like this.

  • Looking forward to see him and all my fellow Parrotheads tomorrow night in Frisco!!!!!!

  • @texasyankee34 and that show KICKED ASS!!! seeing Jimmy live is always such an awesome experience, all the way from the performers on stage to the kickass tailgate parties in every parking lot surrounding Pizza Hut park. i hope you had as good a time as we did dude!

  • Jimmy's is better because it has more cowbell...

  • Those are some nice titties...

  • @mrdarkshadow64, as I've never seen CSN do this song live, and can only compare recorded "live" versions, I just prefer Buffett's version. Live, it rocked the ampitheatre and all the people on the lawn, all 30,000 of us.

  • Actually, he does use pyrotechnics, and his fans supply the flamboyant costumes, and he's always had a coupla' dancers...but they sang...WELL...Like Debbie McCall and Nadura Shakira...The amazing thing about Jimmy is his BOOK writing skills rival his story writing skills...He's had books on the New York Times best seller list in three disciplines...Whether ya' like him or not(I like him) ya' gotta' give him his props...

  • Im fourteen and im a third generation Parrothead! or parakeet wichever

  • @boatuser41 I'm 14..... but I'm only a second generation Parrothead.........

  • @boatuser41 saaame :D

  • @boatuser41 Umm if you were, its actually parrotthead not parakeet LOL! But I'm glad you appreciate Jimmy!

  • @blueagate well actually if your not old enough to drink a margarita (legally) you are considered a parakeet!!

  • @boatuser41 Im 13 and i grew up listening to him so ur not the only one!! :D i love his concerts

  • @boatuser41 You're going places, kid! ;)

  • I saw him do this song in Pittsburgh Pa in 1997. Jimmy can take a cover and make it better than the original. Kudos to him for being a shrewd businessman and still touring every year even when he really doesn't need to.

  • @junglestud Do you REALLY mean to say that this is BETTER than the original? You got rocks in your head. It is very good and I like it - but it is nowhere close to CSN. No way, nohow. Not even close. Don't get me wrong - I really enjoy JB and have since I was little - I just have to disagree with you here. Kudos to Pittsburgh, btw - that's where I'm from as well.

  • @MrDarkShadow64 I think just because it's the fact that it's jimmy buffett, it is better than the original. This is HIS style........as far as a storyteller goes....maybe not harmonics and the rest, but Jimmy Buffett has lived 40 years inside this song.....I would say that he's traveled more than the crosby....and he's STILL on the run!..........david crosbys is the shit though too.

  • @Imspacedbro I can agree to disagree :o) Stephen Stills wrote this btw, not David Crosby. A better example of an artist doing a song better than the original is Sammy Davis Jr doing Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles". SD Jr rips my heart out when I watch and hear him do that song... I don't feel it when JJW does it. I have yet to hear JB do a cover "better than the original", but agree that he has talent at what he does. He really isn't in the same league as CSN - either as singer OR writer.

  • @MrDarkShadow64 You've got to be kidding me. Jackie Jack lived it, wrote it and puts feeling in it everytime I've heard him perform it.

  • Wow, first time I ever saw this performed when I wasn't getting toward the end of a super-good day of tailgating and enjoying the general fabulousness of a Jimmy Buffett event. Sounds good. I still think it sounds better when I'm up there on the lawn, though, feeling the love with my friends.

  • Fuck a whole damn buncha Jimmy Butt...

  • Flippin Fantastic!!

  • I didn't even know Jimmy Buffett did this song, I knew Crosby Stills and NASH did.

I just love Jimmy Buffett, he makes me feel like I am on vacation and its 5 O'clock somewhere!

  • Stop scrolling, you'll find no gems of wisdom down there. Enjoy the music.

  • what I'd give to see Jimmy in concert! But I guess some things are not meant to be.

  • Lovin jimmy and i guess 14 people hate music or are just tone deaf

  • @Kulakovich14 They loved the song, but they are dyslexic and missed the like button. (no offence)

  • I LOVE BUFFET

  • Whoever the jackass was that blasted buffet needs only to go to ONE concert and see doctors and lawyers mixing with the "common" people and having a blast doing it....that's what buffets music does. It spans generations and it spans economical gaps..your at a buffet concert your one of us...YOU ARE A PARROT HEAD..lol I'm so glad i didn't fight it when I was a teenager

  • @wtfosu36

    Resistence is futile

  • I thank Mr. Alan Jackson for letting me know about Jimmy Buffett. I first heard of Jimmy when listening to Alan's 1999 album, Under the Influence, when I listened to the album's last song, Margaritaville. I looked up the music of the songwriter, Jimmy Buffett, and from there I've come to known some great damn music.

    1st Generation Parrotthead since 2002

  • Buffett has his ship and all her flags are a flyin' .... Flying and Sailing and seeing the Southern Cross for the first time .... nothing better. Someday I will land my plane on a remote Caribbean Island and Freddy and the Fishsticks will be playing Southern Cross!

  • SinnFein4ever 5 ...very well said. my dad gave me my first buffet song and i have seen him live 4 times since..it does span generations..PARROT HEADS ROCK!

  • @wtfosu36

I was introduced to it as a little kid.

Every summer, my parents would bundle both of us into the car for the long drive to visit the relatives, or to go on family vacation in Florida; and they would load the car up with cassette tapes of the Eagles, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and Jimmy Buffet (along with books, crayons...ect.), and we'd listen to them the whole drive up and the whole drive back.

I keep Buffet CDs in my car now.

They're great for enduring traffic jams.

  • @wtfosu36

    Thanks!

  • beautiful song - covered by a beautiful artist.

  • I'm a Parrothead for life

  • Love you BUFFETT, COME TO SC!!!!

  • Love you BUFFETT, COME TO SC!!!!

  • Hysterical! From a REAL pirate to another!!! This song is only good when played by Crosby Stillls, Nash, & Young:) Had to see this though.

  • 14 people who don't realize how much fun they are missing out on.

  • parrotheads all the way to hell with rap !

  • i have never failed to fail...it the easiest thing to do

  • Nice job, Jimmy! The Coral Reefer Band is always so impressive - WHAOO!

  • battlemouse1, you need a change in your attitude. At the very least, just go away!

  • @battlemouse1 You realize that some of the greatest artists in history, namely Eric Clapton, have covered artists and made the songs their own. Take a chill pill and listen to the song.

  • @battlemouse1 You have no clue about music... people have been doing remakes for years and adding their own style to it... Grow up and listen to the finished product

  • I love how no one commented that the publisher of this video matched a home-made video of a live concert with a recorded version of a different live concert, it looks surprisingly in sync though!

  • Comment removed

  • wow what a great clip.....thank you for sharing....i love this song both versions are excellent but whoever made this video did a great job with adding the concert feel of the tail gait party....plus jimmy's blonde back up sing is real hot too....thanks again

  • this version blows away the cns version

  • @tbonitatibusFL

    I wouldn't say that. . .

But he did do a good job covering this

  • Many Finsup~~~^~~~~

  • Thumbs up for 2:51 !
