They don't violate anybody else's rights or hurt anyone just by wearing something. Besides, the chances are that criminals who do disguise themselves won't care about the law anyway, so by banning the burqa the only people you stop are the non-violent ones.

I would argue that the burqa should not be banned. Except for three specific areas 1) If the woman wants to perform some public role such as teaching. 2) If an employer requires her not to. 3) In places like banks or airports where no one else is allowed to cover their face. Apart from these cases I can see no justification - though I deplore the full face covering.

hmm he raises a good point. normally i would say its wrong to ban what one can and cannot wear except where what they chose to wear or not wear is a risk to public safety, so for instance you should be able to chose to go nude of you do desired, but not in a restaurant (certainly not in the kitchen) you should be allowed to wear a skii mask, but not in a bank or gas station same for the burqa, you should be allowed to wear it but certain places should be allowed to prohibit it.

Except for three specific areas 1) If the woman wants to perform some public role such as teaching. 2) If an employer requires her not to. 3) In places like banks or airports where no one else is allowed to cover their face. Apart from these cases I can see no justification - though I deplore the full face covering.

hmm he raises a good point. normally i would say its wrong to ban what one can and cannot wear except where what they chose to wear or not wear is a risk to public safety, so for instance you should be able to chose to go nude of you do desired, but not in a restaurant (certainly not in the kitchen) you should be allowed to wear a skii mask, but not in a bank or gas station same for the burqa, you should be allowed to wear it but certain places should be allowed to prohibit it.
