  • any one who is attempting to do fire breathing and don't want to burn to death use cornstarch or powdered sugar they are both safer to use then alcohol

  • nice poi work..about fire breathing you are right..i am not medically allowed to use fuel but i use corn starch...almost the same effect and relativly safe

  • i couldn't find anywhere on the net answer to my question.

i know that petrol is really cancerogenous, and it's stupid to do f.breathing with it, so i do it on big shows only, maybe once a month.. here, kerosine and pure lamp oil are hard to get.

    but what about medical petrol?

it should be clean, but flammable as well, yes?

    thanks :)

  • @stavrosnegovol Medical petrol? Never heard of it, do you mean medical alcohol? If so, yeah, it's probably better, but I don't really know much about fire-breathing as I don't do it. Don't use petrol though man, that's super dangerous, everclear or some other form of alcohol would be better.

  • @NathanielEverist thanks for reply :)

  • I'm a fire eater and I worry about chemical pneumonia because of the vapour that is in your mouth when you extinguish the flame. Does anyone one know if this carries the same high risk at breathing?

  • thedarkstar980, there not sticks man, what he's using is poi, uh essentially wicks on chain. And it depends on where you live to where you could buy them.

  • heyy how much are those swingy sticks and where can you buy them??

  • Using liquid fuel for fire breathing gives you a larger flame, however if you are worried about your lungs, or your life for that matter, there is another alternative. You can use corn starch as fuel, its safer and it gives you pretty good results. You can check out my video, I used corn starch as fuel. By the way, thanks to NathanielEverist for uploading this video and giving these good advices,

  • Nice man, have you tried using coffee-creaming powder? I like it, because it tastes nice : ). However, your mouth always feels like it's full of glue afterwards, so liquid is easier and has bigger flames, but is more dangerous.

  • what about using corn starch, coffee creamer?

  • alot of people seem to think its the risk of "backdraft" into your lungs..it isnt, in fact thats the least of your worries,as the doc repeated several times its chemical pneumanitis (getting the fuel itself into your respiritory tract) is the inherent danger

  • Do these words of wisdom apply to using cornstarch as well?

  • Danger of fire etc, yes. Chemical pnuemonia, no.

  • @icandoracingme I've used conr starch, there is absolutely no risk with conr starch besides blowback... If you have anymore questions contact me

  • Wow... I read that article. And then I saw this video. My mind has been boggled.

  • i have no idea if you received my video response but u can find it on my page its called FUEGO well i did some research and i found an alternative fule for fire breathing ..powder sugar

  • it doesnt burn until its highly oxygenated and if you look at the pictures i have on the video u see that the fireball starts alot further from the mouth/face compared to using the liquids i'm not saying it's 100% safe you just dont have to worry about burning the crap out of your lungs

if there is something i looked over and should know please tell me

  • Alcohol should definitely not be used as fire breathing fuel, but not because of the risk of fucking up, but because of the flammability of the alcohol. Alcohol doesn't need to be aerosolized to be ignited, which means that you're going to end up with flames all over your face and chest.

  • So true, even the concept of putting a flamable liquid in my mouth and then spitting it over flame just blows my mind with dangerousness. But I guess my looks are all I have, so I've gotta be careful with them, lol.

  • who can say no to kandi? all the kewl colors and what not sucks for his friends tho

  • do you every go to any of the burning man events in fl?

  • I've never felt inclined to breath or put fuel in my mouth for any reason.

I am interested in lycopodium powder, though. I think the risks are dramatically reduced, breathing with a lyco delivery system... and it's almost as big a fire ball.

Google "Lycopodium Powder". I'm curious if there are any harmful effects from lycopodium, though?

  • Interesting, you may be interested on some stuff I've been experimenting on as safer alternatives to fire-breathing. I'll post a video up soon if it works.

  • dude do you have any ideia about the risks of doing fire poi how dangerous it can be of curse is not like fire breathing but still dangerous?i am i lil scared about what can happen to my lung like in 10 20 years playing poi..

  • Yeah, I'm pretty aware of the risks of fire spinning, poi being one of the more dangerous due to the risk of tangles, but there are plenty of things you can do to reduce the risk of burns. Beyond burns there is also the risk of chemical pnuemonia caused by the long-term inhalation of burning fuels etc. But these risks still pale in comparison to fire-breathing. This video isn't saying that poi isn't dangerous, it's saying that fire-breathing is, only a fool would say poi is perfectly safe.

  • i didnt write it clear u got me wrong, of curse is not safe inhalation of any fuels!i meant what may happen to the body after long time doing poi...

u said chemical pneumonia , this is what i was looking for ...

  • ok no fire breathing, i rather play poi, nice orbitals, what kind of poi are you showing?

  • Nice poi set. Thanks for sharing information. And happy new year my friend :D

  • im about background video =)

  • Ah, yes they are snakes with monkey fists on the end. They were far more impressive when I first lit them, but I edited it out until we go to Mike's information.

  • very informative and true...seen to many accidents happen with fire breathing and fire poi.

  • interesting.. what it is a kind of poi?

  • No, fire-breathing is when you spray fuel out of your mouth onto a flame to create a "fireball" effect.
