  • My favorite album by far. I like to take a couple Vicoden and just get lost in a world of wonder.

  • One of my favourite song of this incredible band...

  • Most gifted band of all time

  • too good to be true

  • 6 people don't have fancy...

  • This band are unbeatable (because of they`re genius)- if you know the background for their songs you even love them more. How is it possible even in the beginning (almost anyway) of their carrier to make such a fab song?

  • @64KATARINA

Whats the background for this song?

  • GREAT SONG: Info on both, Queen never performed this as a group LIVE. it was studio recorded with many overdubs (vocal & lyrical) and determined too difficult to perform live with any quality. penned by freddie, his interpretation of a painting by a Richard Dadd in c. mid 1860. considered to be his crown jewel, however it took 9 years to finish and is not complete. lower left is penciled in, Dadd killed his father and institutionalized where he did this Fairy Feller "Master Stroke"

  • Neat pairing up the song with the painting by Richard Dadd! You can see the heat coming right out.

  • maravillosa cancion para un dia maravilloso

  • Buy the album 'Queen II' and listen to it with headphones on, it'll blow your mind. Everytime you listen to it, you'll notice something new and different.

  • THE BEGGINING OF POWER METAL

  • happy birthday Farrokh Bulsara

  • @Joshuaovfitzy they did have tracks like White Queen from the same album you can find elsewhere on utube in B/W (black and white) either they were rehearsing or setting up a planned promotional TV show I don't know. The third part of March of the Black Queen when Freddie's voice deepens was also played live.

  • @Joshuaovfitzy interesting question, but to my knowledge, it was never played live.

  • I love that whistle at the begining, it always makes me laugh a little, even though the song is very spooky. Love to all queen fans

  • Queen is the best musical group in history!!!

  • the number of times i've listened to this and said RIGHT i'm not gonna listen to the bass. but you can't !!! lol absolute quality. JD we applaud you, sir

  • Richard Dadd worked on this painting for 9 years and it was still unfinished at the bottom left when he died. He painted this in an asylum where he spent the rest of his life after killing his own father. This painting still hangs in the Tate Britain Gallery in London - and there is usually a crowd of fans around it pointing out the details. The painting was already over a 100 years old when Freddie became taken with it. Dadd also wrote a very long poem with details of the characters.

  • if you said to me ey this song sucks i would do everything to prove you wrong i mean its the best song ever writtin, i love love love love it, like I love love love love Queen.

    nothing can beat this nothing.....

    its magic......

    to good to be true

    Queen for evermore

  • Spectacular!

  • another masterpiece still queen

  • When you first hear the name of this song you think: GAY!. That thought becomes even larger as you listen to the song. A bunch of fairies waiting for another fairy to crack a nut?! You must be joking!

  • The sound is very flighty and flamboyant as well as with many of Freddie's songs. When you see the picture that this song was based on, a lot becomes more clear as to what it's about. While talking about this song, a reporter once asked Freddie if he was gay, and his response started with "You crafty cow!" Don't you just love Freddie! I adore this song, and think it is very good. This song always puts me in a happy silly mood.

  • No one but QUEEN

  • <333

  • That's the Richard Dadd painting that inspired Mercury to write this song. The 19th century painting bears the same name!

  • just realised what this is about ( Richard Dadd's painting the fairy feller's) slow or what lol..........

  • DAYYYUMM ,

    SEXY MUCH FREDDIE ? :D <3

  • god what a fucking song-- love this in 1976 a nd still do now

  • I can't stop hearing that

  • david fuller...I love u,Thanksxxx

  • fantastic-didn't think anyone else in the world knew or loved this as much as I

  • It's like a fairy-tale!

    I love Queen!!!

There must be more of that kind of bands - but one will be unique forever - QUEEN!

  • Listen "Peter Pan" - by Enrico Ruggeri

  • I love this song. Starting at 1:23 it makes me want to moshpit, just go completely ballistic lol.

  • A very impressive and complex song to play and sing, I don't know why this song reminds me 'yes'.

  • Oh if only there were a time machine......to take me back......to hear this in concert; or Anything sung by Freddie!......I Wish!!

  • sublime genius from master freddie x

  • I like your videos.

  • nice video :D

  • cool video, man :-)

  • Queen delivers MASTER STROKE :)))

  • 1 word:

    EPIC!!!!

  • Freddie it's God music!!!

  • i love how no ones even mentioned "The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke" painting this song was done for

  • @ChillyMan5 Funny coz for the longest time i thought the song had no real meaning to it.

It was only when i learned about the painting that i found out that this song is a pretty accurate description of the artwork.

    That was real genius.

  • TERRIFIC

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song so much!

    Queen was the best. :D

  • Masterpiece! I like how this and Nevermore go together. Amazing

  • I always thought their early stuff was the best.

  • beutiful

  • Magnifico Queen!!

  • I wonder if Mercury knew that the artist who painted the picture was commited to Bedlam for most of his life? Just a thought.

  • neil73.....Wouldn't be surprised; Freddie graduated fr. art school and was quite a good artist himself.

In Boh. Rhap. there are references to Shakespeare about wh. he admitted he had done "a little research," but I get the feeling Freddie was very professional ab. his work and always very well prepared.

    FREDDIE---->>>>THE BEST!!!

  • Wow, Freddie's just a maniac! :)

    My favorite line is-

"Fairy dandy tickling the fansy of his lady friend."

I love how he sings that part.

Only Queen can pull this off.

  • Fantastic song :)

    Who is singing at 0:53 - 0:55?

    That sounds like Roger.

  • @Roos5991

Not at all, that's Freddie Mercury of course!!!!

  • Yes i know that Freddie is singing too but i meant the high notes on "And a satyr peers under a lady's gown" That sounds like Roger

  • I'm pretty sure it's still Freddie. The voice is just dubbed.

  • Why did you die so young? T.T

  • such a difficult song to sing!!!! Freddie was a true genius.....and a different kind of human...a very special one

  • Fantastic Incredible!!!

  • GENIUS!

  • absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Check out my cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody". It can't be close to original, but it's a tribute!

  • Incredible song...

  • thanks that song was great (Jack aged 6)

  • Being from Toronto Canada The radio stations were slow getting on the Queen band wagon..for that matter Scorpions UFO Thin lIzzy etc.....I drove rthe record stores nutz ..when is this Album coming in.......finally Round Records on Bloor called me and it arrived......first copy sold! I wore out Queen 1 it was a masterpiece....After the first few listens to this I wondered what happened? All the sped up vocals...but I was patient and it paid off....one of the all time best records!!!!

  • good...

  • Nov. 24th.....the worst day! Another bad anniversary of the day we lost our dear sweet Freddie and the voice of God!!!

    FREDDIE FOREVER!!!!

  • I saw their first tour trhu the states...and I never saw or hear a heavier sound.

Thanks for putting this on! Will someone do Sheer Heart Attack?death on two legs..march of the black queen.....white man AND Prophets Song?

    PPPPPPllllllllEEEEEAAAAAssssseee!!!

  • they are all on youtube

  • can u guys imagine how good were queen in this song as always. All seperate instruments are used and no keyboard yet so much rythamic. WoW. I wish Freddie would never had gone into extra sexual activities, maybe would'v been alive by now. Queen was a super band. They never had any fight, no-lawsuites. This is another great part of them for all the fans.

  • one of my favorites from Queen II

  • I can't find the nymph in yellow :(

  • I know how you feel. I can't see the satyr :'(

  • partially invisible in the centre under the lady's gown.

  • Its a guy in a yellow waistcoat

  • I think that ALAN LEE's paint were more appropriated.

  • One of my favourites...Brilliant!!

  • what a high note at 0:30

  • That's Roger Taylor's Falsetto Voice.

  • what other group than Queen would think of writing a song about a painting? =)

or well, maybe some others, but they wouldnt do it as good as Queen XD

  • agburnes, couldn't have been stated any better; ah how I wish my ignorant friends would appreciate the miracle called 'Queen' to ever grant us real music, in all kinds of ways ... if you're interested can we negotiate about queen's songs?

its more than air to me these days, yet no one is with me to talk to .. i know very ignorant ppl ...

  • MadRad666.....I know what you mean! But, you can always depend on us, QUEEN / FREDDIE MANIACS!!! Entice your friends to check Queen out by your excitement for them! Or even strangers! I do! Passion can take you a long way!!

Send them some videos of Freddie in action. You must EXPERIENCE Freddie to believe what a force he is!

And if that fails, hook up with people who appreciate how phenomenal a band they are.....and just ENJOY!!!

FREDDIE - THE GOD OF ROCK - !!!!!!!!

  • MadRad666......Just send your friends the video of Freddie at Live Aid doing his bit. FM is absolutely right; one must EXPERIENCE FREDDIE to appreciate how a song can be delivered!

Before Seeing Freddie in action, I was so ignorant too! Then Queen Rock Montreal aired on TV, & FREDDIE BLEW ME AWAY!!!!! Now I'm a total addict & I can never 'hear' We Will Rock You the same ever again, or anything else!

FREDDIE was/is/will always be THE BEST!!!

You cannot SEE Freddie and not be changed forever!

  • Great, great song once again from the greatest band in the universe!!!! And, of course the most awesome & best singer to ever grace the planet : FREDDIE!!!!!

FREDDIE - THE GOD OF ROCK - !!!!!!!!

  • absolute

  • cool

  • Queen is so perfect oh my god..... OH MY GOD they are so AMAZING! i can honestly say that i cannot go a day without listening to queen... without queen my world is not the same :)

  • 423likeajewel.....You took the words right out of my mouth! A day without Queen?....NO such thing! If I don't hear Freddie a few times a day I go crazy!

QUEEN IS PERFECTION!! And this song....OMG!!! It is out of this world!

FREDDIE - THE GOD OF ROCK - !!!!!!!

  • I've always wondered if his mom had Richard Dadd's painting hanging in his nursery. If I ever had an opportunity to meet Jer, that is the one question I would ask. My guess is that it was there; and, little Farroukh got lost in it on daily adventures.

  • @jkws well being that he was an art student....

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SWEET FREDDIE!!!!

    WE LOVE YOU!!!

You will live on in our hearts....FOREVER!!!

  • Hey guys I would like to know if there is some interview with Freddy talking about the early style of Queen and their musical evolution

  • aormetal he is dead that would be hard but he still in our hearts....Love you Freddie!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the hardest song to remember the lyrics for honestly.

  • awwurdead.....That's exactly what I thought the first few times I heard this! I didn't know how Freddie could have mastered it. But now, I pretty much know all the words, finally!

The one I consider the toughest to follow is Stone Cold Crazy.....Wow....that is just awesome! It's so magnificent & so Fast & furious!

    FREDDIE ROCKSSSSSS!!!!!!

  • dude, i know what you mean! i'm trying to remember the lyrics, but it's so damn hard!

  • awwurdead, get to know the painting and you will never forget the lyrics again...

  • I know what you guys mean about the early albums being so perfect & all, but that allowed Queen to explore & branch out....to be more creative & not to get stuck like so many, doing the same old thing. They never wanted to "bore" their fans, according to Freddie.

I think they're absolutely PERFECT....no matter what album! I think each one has something so special to offer fans - maybe in a different way - but great, nevertheless!

    QUEEN ROCKSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

FREDDIE - THE GOD OF ROCK - !!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool!

  • Queen II is one of the best, most original rock albums.

I really wish the king of Rhye hadn't lost his throne in Lily of the Valley and that Queen had remained what they were in their first two albums.

Not saying that they became terrible - far from it. I own most of the Queen discography, and it's simply splendid. But, as everyone has said, there's something magical about those early years.

  • readin Tolkien and listenin early Queen.....

    PURE BLISS

  • i love this song

  • I don't think that the later world-conquering Queen ever reached these heights, frankly. Of course they remained excellent but on these early albums they were at their most beautiful and romantic.

  • I agree. They were best in their progressive rock/hard rock/heavy metal days (1970-1976). Afterwards their music was more poppy and less artsy and complex. I missed that in their later stuff, even though a lot of the '80s songs were good. I'm glad they returned a little to the old style for Innuendo. It was a fitting end to the wonderous life of an amazing singer, songwriter, and pianist.

  • @manlyduckling I prefer to attribute this to a brilliant but yet to be developed style. The genius had just not quite yet taken shape. And yes at times the whimsical insanity yields incredible things, though I wouldnt venture to say which period was "higher"

  • I just love their clothes...Of course their music is the best, as well ...

    i

  • in alcune parti ricorda peter pan di enrico ruggeri

  • vero

  • ovvio, ruggeri ha sempre "confessato" di essersi ispirato ai mitici Queen per le sue canzoni.......

  • How excellent are these early songs, i love them.

  • HE´S MY HEROOOO(MERCURY)!!!

  • from 2:38 it sounds like nevermore : D

  • It is Nevermore, this is the song that plays right before Nevermore starts.

  • Greatest rock vocalist who ever lived. No doubt.

  • Actually Richard Dadd has been dead for over 100 years! - - -

Richard Dadd (1 August 1817 7 January 1886) was an English painter of the Victorian era, noted for his depictions of fairies and other supernatural subjects, Orientalist scenes, and enigmatic genre scenes, rendered with obsessively minuscule detail. Most of the works for which he is best known were created while he was incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital.

  • Best singer, best performer ,best lyricist...The maestro Freddie Mercury..the World misses you

  • One of my most favourite songs! One Vision and Ogre Battle are some others.

  • Actually, Richard Dadd is in prison for killing his father......

so, not the best role model.......but, his painting brought inspiration to FREDDIE, anyway, to create this lovely little song, so, for that I am grateful, since it's one of my very favorites...........FREDDIE'S THE BEST...........!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, Dadd went insane, the state of his mind deteriorated through his worldwide travels and that painting is weird.

  • Brilliant ! Absolutely BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!

FREDDIE is such a master !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah he has the best Queen stuff but he should have make the characters in this song appear depending on what the song is saying.

    I should do it.

    God bless Richard Dadd

  • Hear dog, see dog, very creative and original.

  • this song is masterful as is the song that comes after

  • lol, I love this song. Have since 2004, when I first heard it... It's so fucking crazy, I'm still hearing things in the background I've never picked up before. Queen II is an awesome album.

  • i danced to this song in a dance routine, and people were like, "Wow, who DID that song,?" and i was like, "Well, duh! Only the BEST BAND IN THE WORLD!" and they said, "The Jonas Brothers," and i said, "You idiots! (i was politer) it was QUEEN! the band that ROCKS THE COSMOS!!!!!!"

  • This has become my favorite song. It is phenomenal.!!!!!

    It's absolute PERFECTION....like FREDDIE, himself......

    just perfect......!!!!

  • Tickling my fancy, all right!!!.... WOW!!!!.....What a fantastic song!!!.....FREDDIE does it again!!!...proving, once again, he's absolutely the BEST---ever!!!

  • Another brilliant song made by Queen...and Freddie's imagination and ingenuity were really unlimited :)

  • Dave, always keeping the Queen fans happy!!!

  • jus tickled my fancy

  • thanks for the lyrics man.

  • Very good well done

  • aaaah ah aaaaah ah! lol I luv this song LOL xD it's fabulous...

  • this is such a tickle in the fancy

  • Beautiful song, brilliant performance, a work of art that matches the painting it describes, I could go on and on Queen2 is an amazing album. This was a band that was working hard towards being the best that they could be, salutations to you across the decades. Nice video footage by the way!

    :) xx

  • Where did the bit come from where it shows Freddy singing, because Queen never preformed this song live. So it must have come from a different song.

  • I would have liked if it zoomed in on the parts of the painting that are being sung about while it's being sung.

But I'm just happy someone put this song on youtube - nevermind the video.

  • I agree. Someone should do a version that just follows the painting.

  • Freddie a real genious...hear and behold..an awesome lyrics!!!...he was a poet i believed.

  • queen es la mejor banda en el mundo!! Y Freddie el mejor cantante... nunca habra nadie que los supere... Queen4ever! WEBO

  • What happened to music? These days it's rubbish a stupid synthesizer with a crappy, 'original' drum beat. This on the other hand is brilliant. Take a pyramid for instance this is the strong foundations and bottom layer. The 90's were the middle but somewhere in the middle they left out a brick or two so when the new stuff came in on the top the pyramid broke to pieces and crumbled. THIS IS MUSIC NOT RAP OR POP OR THAT CRAPPY STUFF. Queen is legend.5 stars

    Rohan

  • your so fucking right drwho! rap-r'nb aint music its a form of culture for .....s, something they and their mates all pretend is brilliant when its just bollocks- no musical talent in 90% of it- i think the days of 'proper ' music are over i'm afraid, unfortunately- i must sound like a real square but i aint, just fed up with all the american r'n'b hip hop same shite, gangsta thug noise! no wonder the kids are getting violent--------

  • my fave queen song

  • Awesome lyric, better music, greater album, best band ever.

  • a song about a crazy painting...its so great!!

  • these guys were absolute geniuses. No one in music will ever compare... just glad I got to see them a couple of times.Queen music will live on forever!

  • love it!!! awsume piano

  • beautiful!!!

  • nice one

  • Queen II is the best album ever created

  • i agree my fav album of all times
