were would you recommend getting some black powder and caps? im thinking about getting a civil war era musket and dont know ere to get caps and powder
One reason your musket might not go off is those german caps you are using.15 years ago no one wonted to use that brand, because it stop up your nipple on the musket,I still see it doing it today. But do to no one else making caps we dont have much chooses.
I have been reenacting for 15 years, and you never draw a ramrod on the field.Safety reason, and it is against the rules.Ramrod are only drawed at weapon checks,to make sure theres no live ammo in the barrel, and to see if it is clean.
I reenacted for 15 years and you never draw your ramrod on the field or you are taken off.Safety reason why you don't.Ramrods are only draw for inspection only. This is to make sure the weapon isn't loaded for real, and are clean.
ya u have to be atleast 16 to be on the feild with a musket but u might have to buy all ur stuff unless u can get the right regiment if u wanna be in one
love the gettysberg soundtrack in the back. and to answer ur question about the ramming rod,it depended on the individual soldier. most armies taught you to replace it everytime. but in the civil war, soldiers were very poorly trained. but there's no real way to know. no video cameras back then. :(
No they didn't. Alot of regiments would jam the sharp end into the ground (it would stay standing up.) This was done to save reload time, And would only put the ramrod back it's sleeve when they had to move.
I personally prefer the Enfield Musket as opposed to the Springfield, Has better sights on it as opposed the Springfields flip-up sights. The Enfield was brutally accurate.
As for the ramrod, Alot of regiments would spear their ramrod into the ground to save time during reloads.

GOEX hard to find? Try Cabela's... works for me every time.
I have a replica 69 caliber 1728 St. Étienne smoothbore which uses flints, not caps.
I prefer using a 50/50 mix of 2F and 3F black powder when firing both live and blanks rounds.
Cheers !!

I'm also a CW Re-enator. I own an 1853 Enfield Musket Reproduction made by Armisport. What brand is your rifle by any chance? Euroarms or Armisport?

*annoying new voice* The cause of the accident was later determined to be caused from a civil war era ramrod.*/annoying new voice* LMAO
Great video guys I want to go shoot mine now.
And as a side note... I have shot my ramrod out after it had gotten stuck. LOL
