huming the song has a 40% chance that it will recognize the song and singing has a 60% chance of getting recognized but u have to sing it properly and u can use it any part of the song start middle or end it doesent matter.

no lol.. speakers dont take IN sound like microphones... they emit OUT sound. Speakers won't do anything but play sound found in apps, videos, or music, or just default sound effects in the iPod such as putting it to sleep. They don't RECORD sound.

when they're not wired to an input, that's correct. however, a conventional speaker is essentially the same thing as a microphone. you can test this by plugging earbuds into a mic slot and talking into the left one. that's called a dynamic microphone. useful for whenever you need a mic in an emergency.

of course, it works in reverse too; you can easily play music through a conventional dynamic (magnet and coil) microphone.

Umm, no, how can you pull ID3 tags out of thin air? Shazam records the input from the microphone and retrieves the song titles that way.
