  • You know its hard to believe that this movie was considered to be a flop at the box office and got terrible reviews.Critics even said that Olivia sounded like a chipmonk!I personally Loved it!!!

  • Olivia = ¡ P E R F E C T A !

  • I really really dig olivia newton john in that first outfit she's in. Very hot.

The Xanadu theme is also great. Jeff Lynne never fails!

  • COULETTES

  • Does any know what those awesome pants were called that ballooned, but usually only went to the calves, kinda like a skirt? Or where to find one?

  • They were called "Goucho pants" too. :)

  • this was on today i don't remember which time but i looved it~~ i only got to watch this last scene so it's cool!!

  • Gene Kelly did everything

  • I´m gonna to watch my old XANADU video taped from TV years, years ago again.See ya.....

  • cant beat this film oliva newton john and gene kelly together brill

  • I DIG LIV!

  • I love you, ONJ!

  • I learned to drive in high school to an Oliva Newton John song :-) not this one though ^-^

  • 'Fool! I want you to know that you're a loser' 'such a fool' hahaha I love this

  • I have always been so in love with Olivia... awesome song!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • god she is so effing hott

  • I had a massive crush on her when I was in grade school.

  • That "Fool Country" part is kinda weird. It didn't make sense. Oh well, this movie still looks cool.

  • Happy Birthday Whitewall08. I know you like this song and Olivia Newton John. Have a great night xxx

  • Can you honestly believe that Xanadu is my ACTUAL first name. ^_^

  • I love her starting at 7:09...a beautiful woman with a great voice.

  • ME too, thats the best part of this song..I love her dress!

  • When I saw the synopsis for this I knew I had to set my PVR to record it:

"A mythological muse helps a failed artist and a former big band member open a roller disco."

  • actually o.n.john..did..not do any..acting..very..well...look..closely..not..very..good..at..all..beautiful..singer..however..love..her

  • I can't wait to see the stage version...it's coming to Chicago in the winter! :)

  • It is great, you are going to love it.

  • omg she is such an awesome person and love the song

  • Not wonder this was shortly renamed to;

"BANAKU!" after fully published by Bungie Co-headquarter.

No you may not sue them, but I guarantee that you will be sued back =)

  • Jim Berrie is Xanadu!

  • Good movie, and song... straight up.

  • I LOVE the Movie.

    The Song is VERY GOOD.

  • Where can i watch the full movie??

  • Erotic as hell!

  • simply luv it,thanks!

  • The movie was so goofy, you couldn't take your eyes off of it, even if you wanted to. It's also fun to look at all that very early 80's stuff. BTW, the play was pretty funny.

  • I used to TORTURE(and i use that word lightly) my mother with this RECORD(lol) on my portable record(lol) player i got for Christmas in 1980

  • the movie maybe cult status now.. soundtrack was cool but Olivia is hot in Fool county with the tiger strips and go go boots. hot

  • Learn to spell...she wasnt "hot" she was "hawt!"

  • yea i know that was real music ...not like today

  • From about 0:20 to 0:37 I got this incredible chill down my spine. Totally irresistible!

  • i know thats what music is supposed to inspired

  • I know exactly what you mean Geupelboi, happened to me also. Just a fantastic clip here.

  • Oh my god, I get that too! I *love* Xanadu!

Come on, get your skates on and let's go!

  • I didn't care for the film, but I love the soundtrack and this song.

  • whats the music just before the 4 min mark?

  • I wonder that myself,it's A cool instrumental,unfortunately It's not on the soundtrack.

  • I dont know the name myself, but i can recognoze the style as that of ELO.

  • seen this the day it came out and about 20 times in a roll

  • There's something surreal seeing Gene Kelley on skates

  • Criticise all you people want to, but this film is a cult classic; not a masterpiece, mind you, but a huge subcultural movement was spurned about 10 years after it was released into theaters.

It's a time capsule back to the hyperactive zaniness of the 1970's and the disco itself.

AAAAAND, you people seem to take for granted that if we didn't have Xanadu, Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor" album might not've ever been, either. Don't believe me? Watch the video for "Sorry" and "Hung Up."

  • the intro is drum dreams a song by elo´s drummer bev bevan

  • Roller disco classic! So much fun. Love ONJ!!!

  • In India and Pakistan this movie would be called "Xanaduniya"! LOL

  • She is so hot when she comes out in the costume at 6:56 but so Virginal @ 7:10..my heart still swoons..I love the song, instant happiness!!!

  • Man, so many clunker musicals back then. Sgt. Peppers, Xanadu; Hollywood had just forgotten how to make them. Wasn't till the 21st century that we got back on track. Jeff Lynne at the top of his game and Olivia at her most beautiful.

  • I want to go back in time.

  • love movie. love musical. LOVE xanadu

    !!!

  • agreed.Anyone know if Olivia ever made a full version of the song at around 4:30 (wont needing any love for a while)?

  • sorta- the musical uses a longer version of the song- but not in the middle of the song xanadu

  • that's my favorite part and I was wondering the same thing.

  • I love that part!!

  • I think it's on the OST album for the movie

  • Jessica Simpson take notes...

  • Favorite part is around 4:30.Omg,Olivia looked so cute there:)

  • Just purchased this movie on region 2 PAL DVD;the pic quality is slightly disappointing because it looks to have been merely copied from an NTSC master resulting in standards conversion judder and flicker on movement. Contacted Universal Pictures UK and can't get a decent response from them;it doesn't seem like they seem to care about people buying it's products,2.0 dolby digital surround sound on the disc is OK though.

  • the directing was lousey. the film flopped. it might have been forgotten completely if it weren't for Olivia Newton John and ELO.

  • Such a cheesy movie but Goddamm I absolutely LOVE IT!!!

  • What makes this video a winner is Olivias sincere smile. She looks like she's having a great time! I love her.

Plus the song's not bad, either.

  • Loveeeeeeeeee this movie! Best song was suspend me in time, and suddenly in my opinion.

  • 28 years ago... My God where did the time go?

  • This film sequence is written indelibly into my spirit - I'd never seen anything like it, and still haven't.

  • NOT the greatest movie BUT some of the finest music by Olivia! Tho ONLY thing that COULD have saved this movie was to have just linked all the musical numbers together for one huge music video! And after seeing some scenes from the Broadway show - makes me appreciate this movie all the more!

  • Can't Stop The Music is the major killer of disco. The movie was a bigger flop than Xanadu.

  • Can't Stop the Music: release date 20 June 1980

Xanadu: release date 8 August 1980

    I win.

but let's just say they were 2 nails in the same coffin :)

  • Too bad the movie was a flop, but the sound track was a smash hit.

  • okay, ill say it just one more time and no more....if Maxim mag was out in '80, Olivia would have been on ALL TWELVE COVERS! of course mainly because of that very final scene where she turned into that white princess at the end!

  • Olivia Newton John is the most beautiful woman on earth.

  • This song is nice and campy. I like Rush's Xanadu much better.

  • Oh, Olivia! Simply the greatest. I read she had fallen on the set and broke her hip or tail bone and after a night in the hospital came back in pain and did this dance. A real trooper.

  • As for movie careers go, yes it did tampered the careers of Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly, and ELO, but Olivia Newton-John had a huge album that was a major hit called Physical. ELO created the greatest and most underrated album ever called Time. So as fars as careers go, they were doing fine after this movie. Even Gene Kelly hosted two segments both from 1985 & 1994 called "That's Dancing" & "That's Entertainment III"..So they all do well on their own.

  • I want this played at my funeral

  • Ok so it isn't 'Citizen Kane'...but try and not tap your feet to this music..the soundtrack alone is infectious..it is campy fun from the beginning..no wonder they made a Broadway musical from it..a true GUILTY pleasure..

  • The music is a guilty pleasure. Watching the actual movie is... beyond description...

  • The musical numbers are cool. Pity the movie itself is utterly horrible and hollow. It's supposed to be a love story, but near the end when they declare they have fallen in love you're like, uh, when??? It's a love story where no one actually falls in love, they just declare that they have at the end. WTF??

  • Uhh... it was rather obvious that they were in love during the cartoon fantasy ("Don't Walk Away"). Maybe you neglected to watch that part. Or maybe you don't understand English well enough to understand the lyrics to "Suddenly" or "Magic" or any of the other songs in the middle of the movie?

  • wow it's been awhile since i watched this movie...awesome movie! :D

  • the movie that single-handedly killed the careers of Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly and ELO - and marked the end of the disco era!

  • Killed the Disco Era? You are in error, Sir! You have confused Xanadu with CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC -- which actually did just that.

  • No, Can't Stop the Music with The Village People and Bruce Jenner killed Disco...big time.

  • Can't Stop the Music: release date 20 June 1980

Xanadu: release date 8 August 1980

    I win.

but let's just say they were 2 nails in the same coffin :)

  • I like Gene Kelly on roller skates at the beginning.....he must have been at least 60 by then...still smooth

  • I am embarrassed to admit I went through a phase in which I tried to dress like Olivia Newton-John.

  • ^_^ I'll admit with you that if they still sold clothes like that, I would try to myself!

  • Great musical ending.

  • the broadway show is waaaayyy better really u guys should see it so sososo funny ..[imnot tryingto say this movie is bad] imsaying its a very good movie just the broadway show ish bettter .....sooorrry if i offended any1 just saying the broadway show is 5000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better anddddddd the guy who plays the guy lol..is way hotter on broadway lol im such a suckerup goooddddddd

  • i'd fuck her

  • Que sexy...bufff

  • Second time I've ever seen this movie was last night in my local movie theatre here in Atlanta. Nice to see it on the big screen. First time I saw it I was a child.

  • ELO did half the songs and the other half was done by John Farrar in the Xanadu soundtrack score. I am pretty sure that's how it goes, though.

  • This is the only movie that precipitates strong emotions for me because Olivia Newton John IS my childhood sweetheart Tammy.

Each time I see this movie I think of her.

    Fond memories indeed.

You see that Tammy ...I do still think of you! lol

  • Xanadu- Wasn't that the palace that Kublai Khan was supposed to live in, you know ...with the pleasure dome and all that? I know for sure that in the film Citizen Kane, Charles Foster Kane named his San Simeon-like mansion Xanadu. How appropriate!

  • at 0:44 she is the hottest lady around

  • the whole second half sucks.

  • Jeff Lynne and ELO got screwed in this movie. Had it not been for them this movie wouldnt have been as good as it was. ELO forever!

  • she is so pretty

  • She's so pretty...

  • See the you tube post "Gene Kelly tap dancing on roller skates" where he does an entire roller skating routine.

  • This is the hottest she ever looked.

  • have a look at "a little more love" where she sings in the studio booth. she looks hot then as well

  • It wouldn't hurt that her ex-husband, Matt, was one of the dancers in the red cardigan sweater, though.

  • Olivia couldn't really act or dance. But it's true, she had fabulous armpits!

  • loved your video great 5 *****

  • My favourite detail, by far, is the hitchhikers standing up on the bars, trying to thumb a ride... what did they think would happen? Did they realistically think a altruistic rollerskater would stop, pull off the track, and carry them on their back? Seriously, they should have just climbed down and walked.

  • I Love the rocky part... Olivia looks so sexy

  • One can never have too much roller ballet.

  • This movie is just fun...I mean, it was a remake of 'One Touch of Venus' with Ava Gardner in 1948..but what makes it stand out is the music by ELO, The Tubes, and of course Olivia..no wonder they made a musical out of it..it is too much fun not to enjoy..

  • "Xanadu" has similarities to "One Touch of Venus" and could also be considered a loose remake of the 1947 picture "Down to Earth," in which Rita Hayworth plays the Greek muse Terpsichore who comes to earth so she can star in a Broadway play -- as herself!

  • Fantastic soundtrack!!!

  • Yes it is

  • i still know EVERY word to the movie and songs!!! hell still love to skate!! lol

  • i luv the ending song! my mom absolutely luvs this movie! thnx for posting this ^_^

  • Olivia Newton John could shake wow she so beauiful i like it when she a cowgirl she very hot when she a cowgirl

  • i like when she comes out at the end dressed like victor victoria

  • Does anyone have the whole ending, where it doesn't cut off after the song?

  • This is a weird movie for me, one one hand, I absolutely dislike the movie plot as a whole....but the music parts (like this vid) are incredibly fun and cool! Plus I have always had a huge crush on Olivia! Incredible beauty and talent!

  • at 3:14 the roller skater girl falls... it 'almost' edit out, but you can still see her with her arms in the air crying for helpppp......! :P

  • Very good observation! LOL

  • The movie Xanadu, was not bad was ok, it had great songs in it and I personally liked the mix of 80's music with the 40's music. Love both styles of music.

  • OMG im turning into my parents. In the '80s my mom played this movie to death. I thought I couldnt wait to get away from it. Now at 35 I just bought this movie. I guess i missed it....LOL @ me.

  • lol WUT??

  • I love the story of the movie and that song gets stuck in my head so easily!Great...It's stuck.

  • This movie and song rocks!

  • I'm glad someone agrees with me...it's a shame I have to order the rerelease off the computer..I was hoping to have it by now...

  • The song rocks but the movie sucks ass!

  • you have to be on drugs to get it....

  • my favorite movie of all time..thanks for posting

  • also, damn this scene is so cheesy it makes me laugh. like that one where the girl is spinning in the air with her neck hahahaha!

    but gotta love this movie!

  • damn. whats the song at 4:30

    Olivia is damn fine

  • Xanadu was a fantastic and stylish movie with good aural performances from ONJ and ELO and brilliant sequences and visuals especially the animated Don't Walk Away and this at the end!!! Rubbish my arse!!!

  • Cheesy movie but I still loved it! The music made it great!

  • I enjoy this goofy story so much that I've created a Dungeons and Dragons adventure for my players that will have Terpsichore in disguise as a young maiden who for the moment I'm still calling "Kira." I don't think the current players would recognize "Kira" from either Xanadu or the original movie Down to Earth, featuring Rita Hayworth as Terpsichore/Kitty Pendleton. Maybe I'll call her "Kitty" to make the reference even more obscure, or use the Greek for cat, "gatos," feminized as "Gata." :-D

  • i saw the sound track in my dads old old old old old records so i searched it and realy i shouldnt have...5 stars

  • awsome music

  • I can't help but wonder - if like most roller-rinks or dance floors - if even in the Perfect World of Xanadu - there's a f*ked up section of the flooring that ya gotta watch out for..

  • by far funniest comment i have read since the beginning of 2008. LMFAOOOOOOOOOO :)

  • Always wandered what xanadu was and wow it really sucks balls!

  • one of the best soundtracks ever...

  • Olivia is hot. Sings great. ELO is a good back. Overall the song is catchy. The video blows but you can't have everything right?

  • yes, Its the meaning of the movie

  • Ah one of the guilty pleasures of the 80's LOL! This movie was so bad it was good but the soundtrack kicked ass. Olivia looked even better here than in Grease. Such a heavenly voice and a fantastic lady.

  • I love it!!

  • No other movie quite encapsulates the point at which the 70's became the 80's as the movie Xanadu. I find it fascinating to see the 70's influences merging with the trends that carried over into the 80's.

  • I wish I had a muse like ONJ

  • cocaine werwolf lives!!!!

  • No restraint. Too much of the cokey chokey my friends.

  • The head side angle move the dancers were doing was really the start of the 80s trend right there. Not to mention the little shimmy with the shoulder from the ladies. Totally the start of 80s dance routines, right next to Pat Benatar's Love Is A Battlefield dance scene.

  • Oh Lordy...

I mean first the Xanadu thing.. then tap dance, then some sort of... er.. "heavy" rock.. then country.. then a Xanadu reprise.. Seriously, what was the DJ smoking??...

I'll never call Marilyn Manson a freak again...

  • I love this movie and songs, I love the 70's and 80's !!!!!!!!!!!

  • michael jackson stole his moves from olivia.

  • This movie was total shit! The soundtrack was great though. Thanks to ELO.

  • you think this movie is shit wrong i heard most of the people love the movie you are a loser.

  • True. is that why you are here too?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Good one.

  • cum is suposidly good source of protein....

but more on topic, honestly, this isent a faggy movie, it just is so bad its funny.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha i love this!

  • Thumbs up! This was magical to me as a child and still is...I wanted to be Olivia after Grease and this movie was an aspiration to all young girls out there with a pair of roller skates and an imagination.

  • a very powerful movie ...

singlehandedly, it had the power to end the careers of Gene Kelly, Olivia Newton-John and put the final nail in the coffin of the disco era

    now THAT'S power!!

  • jesus christ, lmfao.

  • Last night I couln´t asleep so I watched XANADU video again(well, how many times have I done it?).I enjoyed that.Sweet 80´s.I´m really glad that I could live in that period.

  • When Olivia comes out at 6:50 with that seventies spacelady outfit and that crazy makeup and she's strutting along with that 1000 gigawatt smile... damn, she's fine! I don't know what it is, but I found that bit more sexually arousing than even Princess Leia in a metal bikini.

  • Terrible movie, but Olivia was HOT beyond HOT and the soundtrack absolutely rocked.

  • You really have to be high to appreciate this movie.

  • This thing is just nuts!

    I love it.

  • Olivia Newton John is smoking hot...great sequence...I dedicate this to Mike "Xanadu" B!
