  • this is a mother you should watch out for, much more unhealthy than the son

  • 6:06. You've only just realised that?

  • if i was tom i would totally fuck tom's mom. shes fucking stacked.

  • :36

    "mummy.."

    AHH SHE HAS A TUMOUR

  • Why isn't Oli working in a history museum? Thats where he belongs, he probably would be brilliant at it!

  • Fuck unemployment and fuck this temporary shit. People with disabilities are owed a job no questions asked if they can do the work they should be hired permanently . None of this volunteering shit where you work hard and are not paid a cent or get no benefits let alone no food.

  • his mom thinks she is doing what is best, but i also think because she is so over protective and i think she views his autism negatively. And it seems she'd rather he not move forward with his life like he could be with a lil' bit of help and therapy.

  • Tom needs a haircut

  • Alex's mom looks like Gillian McKeith :P

  • tom is sexy;)

  • @malis96 - and hes mine XD

  • god fucking hate myself for doing this TV show lol!

  • Tom's mom is a bitch, she needs to learn to talk to him in a way is claming and supportive, take the girlfriend issue it is hard for tom to socialise so this step is a very good step for him and his mom slams him down. I have Aspergers and mom and dad are very open to anything to help me.

  • @flicksharpe1 -- i find it really interesting to see these comments, I've been Tom's girlfriend for almost 2years now, and he's doing great! :) I really do think things are on the up for him, he did amazing in college and is doing great in uni too :) Im so proud of him

  • @MrZoeSmells Well done. The comment was to His mom not you. I think It is very inportant for anyone to have a girlfriend/boyfriend evern more for Autistic/ A.S kids. I am proud of him to. Well done to him. But in the video I was very upset with how his own mother was talking to him.

  • @flicksharpe1 --- its understandable how it can be seen they way people see this, things have changed dramatically since then. They're relationship is a lot better now, Tom has grown up heeps, and i am always here to support him too :) it's all good :)

  • @MrZoeSmells Remember that I am autistic to. And I was only watching this doco for personal reasons How is his Mother now? I was only upset how she was not how fantastic he is.

  • @flicksharpe1 --- she is really great thanks :) everything is all good :) ... I know how the documentary came across, and what i love about it is that Tom keeps surprising people. I always knew he would do well, but to see peoples faces when he does so good is a amazing feeling :) Just because you're autistic, doesnt mean you cant achieve anything. Tom is living proof of that. So proud of him :)

  • @MrZoeSmells I am also proud of him. Please don't think I was being mean to him I think He is great and a fantastic person. My comment was for his mother. I think he is lucky he has you and you have him.

  • @flicksharpe1 -- aww thanks :) my life has got alot better since being with him as well so i feel very lucky and blessed for that :) ... and his mum doesnt see comments on here, so i dont think it would make a difference if i am honest. But each to there own :)

  • toms mum is hot stuff

  • @Masychefx2 tru indeed!

  • Personally I think Tom's mum is right to be concerned about a complete stranger coming over. I agree that it was wrong to go through his personal stuff, but having someone else's child coming over from a very long way would concern me too - especially when it's rather out of the blue like that.

  • she care about parent premison and stuff like that

but the brother could have a freaking party and let the autistic brother drink :P

    this mother sends double messages

  • thank god people of finland respect more privacy and independence. that british momsy is making his life a living hell.

  • Well I think Tom's mum is doing what comes naturally to any mum with a kid with autisim. She is protecting him, and quite frankly I dont blame her. If that was my kid and he ran away a couple of time and he doesnt have great communication skills then I would be definitly scared to allow him to get into a relationship without knowing the complications. What if it goes bad? She should just try and loosen her grip slowly and resonably.

  • @tonata24 I think that's a very "sane" way to look at it.

  • Oli and his mom have a really poetic way of speaking. Why are people being such jerks about Tom's mom? She was just worried about who he met online, and she only wanted to know the details of the plan to meet her. That's perfectly reasonable, especially considering that Tom had been stood up before.

  • @animalcrosser591 It's also reasonable when you're meeting someone new that you've talked to online. It can be dangerous to meet someone online if you aren't careful about it. I also think people have no idea what it is like to raise one these kids. It's so incredibly difficult. My son has Asperger's and it's so frustrating and it hurts me every time he struggles with relationships. He has never really had a girlfriend but he has had crushes and he gets hurt by people all the time.

  • Toms mummy is so milfy its insane

  • Tom's mum isn't being helpful to him at all. She is way too overbearing

  • Tom's mum is a cunt.

  • @lennic95 i agree!!

  • His mother is LOVING using his autism as an excuse to control his entire life. Yes she's right to be concerned about people taking advantage of him, but it's her responsibility to teach him how to avoid that, not confine him at home so that he never learns. It's borderline abuse.

  • @NiamhFrancisPianist You could not be more true. I have Aspergers but have learnt to cope very well with it. My mother was overbearing as I was growing up by I moved out of home when I was 17. Tom's mums way of 'helping' him is so detrimental to his well being that someone needs to speak with her about his condition. If someone takes something of mine i.e. a letter. I would be incredibly upset. It's just not something logical to do.

  • ... I think Tom's mom is rightly concerned about his internet girlfriend... It would be so easy to take advantage of him.

  • the mother is so annoying i have a son with aspergers she didn,t want him to meet the girl any how so why act concerned then when she didn,t show toms right.

  • i think oli should work at a museum teaching history

  • @jmantime

i think he could teach anything he could teach me alot more then i know

  • toms moms a controlling asshole

  • @SKULLCRUSHERER the reason y shes heartless is coz she probably messed with toms head it happens 2 me a lot thats y i say there are some gd girls out there but there are lots of cruel 1s aswell

  • Blows my fucking mind that we live in a world where somebody as clever and charismatic and generally fabulous as Oli can't get work, but plenty of horrifically stupid and unpleasant people can purely because they aren't labelled with a disability.

  • well to be fair on tom's mum i can understand where she is coming from with the whole girlfriend issue, she just dosen't want him to be heartbroken when it all dosen't go to plan and since she dosen't know anything about the girl it dosen't suprise me that she is not happy and for her to come four hours is quite a way espically for just one day. I have autism and my mum has said to me, just don't get upset if she dosen't turn up when i was with my ex

  • i hope that girl saw this and appologised 2 tom coz if she hasnt then shes just a heartless person it happens 2 me a lot and i have autism but its no excuse i dont think. i have aspergers there are gd girls out there u just gotta keep looking and dont let autism hold u back i think girls like that 1 do this coz people with autism tend 2 take things literally and they find it amusing wen they get the persons hopes up then crushes them.

  • @millerboyization this is fucking true my friend - there are people in teh world that will fuck you over. Like when I was younger, I tried to make friends with people older than me in school and outside trains and buses and even tried to get with girls outside of school too. Unfortunately, I shouldnt have met those people cos they fucked me over in the end despite me acting like a dick over em. Dw, in the end you know who your true friends are

  • @millerboyization plus I didn't make friends till I was 16 :)

  • Tom's mother knew the girl wouldn't come. It's almost like she wanted to rub it in Tom's face at 8:15. Horrible.

  • :) Oli is like amazing!!

Alex is a sweet heart :)

And Tom seems like a good kid but he is often emotionally abused by his parents. I really do hope Tom is doing okay.

  • Im suffer from Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Im not like any of these. I've had girlfriends, I've lost my Virginity, I have a good group of mates that I go out with. I got off lucky I suppose, but it shows you shouldn't let Autism ruin your life.

  • @iBeeJaysonaa

Lost your virginity to your mother i imagine.

  • @Gayaspergianstar2009 Fuck you.

  • why the hell wouldn't somebody hire someone like Oli? I mean he can be very good at a huge number of tasks;

    someone should give him a job involving history, he would be very good; I don't get it; if it's prejudice, it's crap;

  • @NemoTVChampion well i saw my online gf like 5 times and im autistic - didnt last tho and it was a very annoying tiring process to save our relationship. goes to show dont meet girls on the internet.

  • @NemoTVChampion

    She lied.

  • I know his mom is sort of...yeah buggy. But that does not give him the right to hit her and curse at her. I hate when people disrespect their mothers.

  • LMAO.. Ollie's a fucking legend

  • See, this program is a very good one because it highlights the issues of family life when one of your family members has Autism. Tom's mother doesn't understand his condition, and does condescend to him a lot, and she invades his space too much. She also makes no effort to try and educate him. But she shelters him too. Tom himself is also in a diffiicult position though - the world arround him is confusing, and everyone he knows is undergoing many changes. It's a difficult condition. All over.

  • i got AS and erm god poor guy hat 'gf' stands up tom. goes to show - actually meet people rather than on the internet unless they live in your area. :) :(

  • This poor boy Tom. His mother treats him like a scab to be picked!!

Does she not see how unhappy her son his?!

  • @kelrush I agree with you 100% on this =|

I noticed that first moment I even saw her etc... =|

My dad is like that but I know he means well and he lets me get on wit hmy life how I wanna - within reason =/

I have AS and I live with my parents also but... I wanna move out and be free from all these annoying restrictions -__-

  • @kelrush Yeah I agree, His mom's attittude is incredibly irritating to watch. I hope something changes for his sake becuase that kind of home situation surely isn't helping.

  • @Murakumon90 I agree too, has you noticed out of the parents having an autistic kid, It's usually the mom that makes a big fuss out of it and using it as an excuse for one's screw-ups and addressing autism as if it's a bad thing.

  • @Murakumon90 Yeah no wonder why Tom's so rebelious.

  • @Murakumon90 it is better for him now, i know him from college and he's a good guy, he's now with my ex girlfriend zoe and there very good for eachother, hes very chill now

  • @simonwizzle91 is that tom your talking about

  • @thelashers yeh

  • @Murakumon90 I deffenitley agree! If my mum acted like the way Tom's mum does to me i'd find her VERY irritating!

  • the mum is a bit of a anooying ####

  • Autism was just a word until I first watched 'The Autistic Me' on television. I've been on a few websites, in order to understand the disorder a little more. I do hope that Oli, Alex, Kirsty and Tom have a bright future and I wish them all the good luck and understanding they deserve. It would have been well good if they'd show Tom playing his guitar!
