I never saw this movie until the mid 90's on TV and I always felt it had some lame/wierd-ass lines in it. I figured it was just because it was an cheesy 80's movie. Looks like I was about half right.

Swearing is much more allowed now than it was in 1985. However, in 1985 there was no problem with the word faggot in the song "Money for Nothing." NOW, they omit that verse most of the time! Also, for the first time, they changed "faggoty white uniform" to "girly white uniform" in the TV version of "A Few Good Men." Swearing, violence, and drug use are more allowed than ever but you're not allowed to dislike gays, mixed-race couples, or any other deviance promoted by the media.

Those edits are as hilarious as the "Son of a Butthead" audio dubs for the TV version of Back to the Future! The funniest ones are in the TV edit of Robocop though.. Thanks for sharing all this but I'm sure there was another clip where Gary originally said he was kicked in the family jewels and it was censored to "in the gizzards" lol... I wonder why Universal/John Hughes (RIP) never included the deleted scenes as an extra on the DVD.

God i HATE censoreship. Although i do like it if on a DVD it has a censored and Uncensored version. At 3pm it showed the first Beverly Hills Cop. I said it half a year ago and I still stand by my opinion, the assholes at the FCC just want to suck all the profanity out of good movies, taking most of the hilarity with it, to try to make everyone as prudish as they are. I mean most of the laughs come from HOW the lines are said, not just from the words, e.g. "Chet? Oh shit!" "Well Goddamn!" "Well, my nuts are halfway up mah ass, but other than that I'm perfect." Nahh. Even better than beeps, is when they just mute the single words at a time, like they do on mainstream radio when they play Emenem songs. Just muting a word is far less annoying than beeping it. Dubbing is the worst 'cuz they change entire sentences rather than just muting or beeping one word at a time.
