Not a waste when you consider that this drone can be used as an additional search party for rescue ops. OR can be used to patrol borders, record drug and human trafficking, all without risk to human life. Would prevent coast guard and air national guard para-rescue from wasting time headed in wrong directions.
You people amaze me, there is a video about a cheaper way to get a non-spacecraft in the air and all of a sudden it's big brother trying to infringe on your sorry-ass liberal rights!!! In case you didn't know it there are already orbital satellites that keep tabs on the world, this is an alternative to expensive spacecraft.
ceeboh44-most of our technology breakthroughs that we take for granted (internet, cell phones, etc)start off as military projects and eventually work their way out to civilian use. So, give it time, it might ulitmately translate into something that would help decrease crude oil energy dependency.
That's great. Use GVT money to research solar power to figure out how to kill more people instead of providing the means to be less dependent on foreign oil...
There IS a means of NO dependency on foreign oil! The USA has a pleathora of oil under it's soil and in it's shorline waters! Start up the drills, baby!
The only ones worried about their privacy apparently have something of which they are ashamed, have something to hide, or have deeper issues that money can't fix.
Darksquire, you are a moron. Research history man...do you think facism comes quickly or in the form of evil? No, it comes quietly and over time cloaked in the security of things like the "Vulture" I will leave you with a quote: "The more there are riots, the more repressive action will take place, and the more we face the danger of a right-wing takeover and eventually a fascist society."
So, anti-moron I guess in your little universe of self-godhood, the Vulture will spawn mass rioting, selectively choose and repress people from 90,000 feet away and allow those horrible right-wingers to take over the world with an unmanned aircraft. That quote was accurate about two things, he's dead and wrong; that makes you both dead wrong
You more than likely correct, but be wary of using phrases like, 'anyone else who denies...'. That just smacks of elitism. You're not smarter or more privy than anyone else, and if by chance you are, then share your wisdom without the pretense.
I love the link to here from FoxNews: "Click here to see a video of what the Vulture might look like in action, complete with an '80s triumphal-metal soundtrack."
A cruising altitude of 90,000 feet (that's 18 miles to you and me) it will be very difficult for any but the most sophisticated countries to "shoot down." Most MANPADS have a range of around 10,000 feet.
Not to mention that this is probably intended for deployment over regional conflicts in the middle east or south america, where it's even less likely an adequate air-defense system exists, and you're looking at a very useful observation platform with minimum risk.
As I can see, you`ll be able to vote for two socialists as well in November. If you americans don`t vote them, that`s your problem and democratic choice...
Most fighter aircraft can't reach a 90,000 foot ceiling...and most SAM missiles have a maximum ceiling of 40,000 feet. It's essentially almost in space at 90,000 feet.
If you look at the interviews for the creator of this thing...they want this thing to fly around at 90,000 to 140,000 feet in the sky. It's out of reach of most shit.
looks like a waste of money. i hope it doesnt go any further than this video.

The right-wingers have already taken over our country and the world....in the form of corporatism. Anyone who denies that is a lemming.

Who knew watching our liberties go up in smoke would be so cool...with such awesome music. Did they get the same composer from Iron Eagle?
txwmoney 3 years ago
Idiot. What liberties are you going to lose with this?!?
Your right to vote?
To practice religion freely?
To pursue happiness?
To bear arms?
To speak out for or against your government?
To be stupid?
Obviously, your liberties are doing just fine. Put down the Michael Moore shit for once and join the real world, you dopey kid.
rovibe 3 years ago 2
methinks privacy is missing from your list...
However that went away with the patriot act anyways...
Oh, and what does Micheal Moore have anything to do with it?
trueillumination 3 years ago
Let's see...how should I break this down for such a simpleton:
My right to vote? We currently have a 2 party system. Which means we have one more viable choice than the communists.
To practice religion freely? I'm sure practicing a religion is all you do since religion is make believe anyway
To pursue happiness? Happiness is in the eyes of the beholder...or big brother with the "Vulture"
To bear arms? It's under attack by our government every day
To speak out? That's why I'm here

It probably won't be shot down because it's policing our own (US) airspace at an altitude that would require our own military to shoot down.
