  • This is the REAL EVITA, Paloma San Basilio & the real Eva Perron both spoke Spanish, both are beautiful, strong & talented. Via the Spanish version of the Webber musical, we are taken to the Argentina of the 40's in the Perron years. This is a Spanish story people so the Spanish version is the best

  • @EZYCHEESY You ENJOY her? WOW!!!! What an honor!!!! Stop the presses! Someone, please call Paloma San Basilio and notifiy that a garden variety bitchy LuPone fanqueer "enjoys her!" Oh, and call the Inquirer as long as you're at it.

  • @EZYCHEESY Oh, shut the fuck up, you hypocritical little bitch. All you do is stalk youtube for clips of actors playing the same roles as Patti so you could talk shit about them. I have news for you, Patti is not the best actress/singer out there. In any case, did she file a restraining order against you yet? Your head is stuck so far up Patti's ass, she needs to get tested for STDs.

  • @EZYCHEESY She didn't use the belt because of the different acting approach and changed orchestrations, but she can sing rings around Patti any day in reality!

  • Madonna who? :-P

  • Pesima traduccion.

  • Great clip! Looks like it's the Madrid cast, but not from the stage production (they play in front of a traveller curtain, they use hand-held mikes). Paloma is fierce, ¡como siempre!

OasisEnLaLunna: I never knew Rocio Banquells did the show. I've never seen a Mexican cast album--is it still available? I'm also a fan of Rocio's; I love her mariachi albums, and of course, her Broadway album.

  • @JaLToSQ : Yes, Rocio did Evita in fact twice: 1981 and 1995 I think. There is a cast recording of the 1981 version. It should available as a free download somewhere online.

  • @JaLToSQ There is a Mexican album, but it was never re-mastered so the quality is dreadful. Eva sounds like a 13 year old middle school student who got the role only because her aunt is the superintendent of the school district and the translations and production values are dreadful in general.

  • I noticed that the version in Spanish was much more sympathetic to Eva Peron than the English version.

  • Paloma is the best Evita...she's Spanish (like the real Evita) and has the right voice for the part, look of authority and she acted the hell out of her role....SHE IS THE BEST

  • She doesn't hold a candle to the Broadway Eva's...especially Lupone.

  • Yes, it's real, in my opinion the best Evita was Paloma San Basilio and Madonna in the film, but Evite was not spanish, she was argentinian, she was the First Lady of Argentina, is not the same. Argentina is from Spain like USA from UK.

  • @Hinzel1976 ...I meant she spoke Spanish and I know the difference btwn South America & Spain. However both are Spanish speaking countries. The part of Evita (in Spanish version musical) can be sung by any Spanish speaking singer from Mexico, Central America or South America - or Spain

  • excelente

  • can you please post more- Buenos Aires, Good Night and Thank You, I'd be good for you-

  • Wow. i've never heard it in spanish before. this is is great. the lady sings with fire !

  • The Mexican production with Rocio Banquells has an even better spanish translation. Especially of this song "Saldra El Arcoiris Hoy".

  • @OasisEnLaLunna No, it doesn't. The Mexican version's translation is KNOWN for being much worse than the Spanish one.

  • @emlodik Really? known by who or are we both simply expressing our opinions? :)

  • @OasisEnLaLunna I'm sorry, I forgot all about people having idiotic opinions. Anyone with half a brain can tell that the Mexican translation was going for slang oriented words and high camp, but I guess if you're a simpleton who prefers that over a translation that actually puts some thought into it....

  • @emlodik The last time I checked "Saldra El Arcoiris Hoy" was plain Spanish and not slang. But like I said, I respect others' opinions and simply expressing mine. I hope Youtube continues to inspire you.

  • @OasisEnLaLunna Not really, it just makes me question the evolution of mankind.

  • ¡Bravo, Paloma!
