they should have done a dual exhaust system..lots of I4's have dual exhaust..same engine as the Cobalt SS..why didn't they use the 2.4L instead of the 2.0L engine ? weight difference ?
I have a HHR SS Auto and tried it out last fall . I got it to 134 MPH and then when I got off the gas it changed gear so 155 MPH should not be a problem. It was just cruising along with no shimmy not like my 1972 Duster 340 used to do at that speed. I like it a lot 23 MPG around town and 32 MPG if I dont get on it but that's no fun. Fun car to drive I would buy again mabey next time a HHR Panel SS.
The panel one is hot, but can you take it on the Hyway, some states you need a little side window or its considered a commecial vehicle.,.I thought this car was ugly at first, but now Im considering it or a camaro, but I like the utility aspect. but only an ss, and does the SS come with a back seat? That's awesome how Chevy decided to make a performance version of the HHR, this vehicle is awesome. Even though it'd have terrible visibility, if I bought this, I'd have to go with the HHR SS Panel van.
I had an 06 Cobalt SS 2.4L (non supercharged) 173 hp auto before the 09 HHR SS. When I learned that the HHR SS was offered with an auto, I had to have one. Granted, it is 235 hp vs 260 hp for the manual, but Chevrolet offers an "LNF UPGRADE" that boost power (with eith transmission) up to 290 hp and 315 ft lbs of torque. The HHR SS is a BLAST to drive. You ALWAYS have enough power, and it won't set you back $350$40k like an EVO or STI. I don't need awd in Central Texas anyway!
Got a black SS in December. LOVE IT! I get so many questions, comments and compliments on it. It was very reasonably priced and has great utility, and is fast. I dont care what you ppl say. I OWN one I know.

I have driven the hhr ss. A friend of mine bought one. While it dosen't stand up to my 450wp civicit is ALOT of fun to drive. The lauch controll and clutchless shifting manual transmission (in sport mode) made it very fun in the 1/4. I managed to pull off the 14.8 that chevy boasts for the vehicle.
The HHR SS has VERY 'chincey' charge piping. After that is replaced (& maybe the manifold) I suspect this to be an easy 12.5 - 13.0 car. On slicks it would be effortless. Good product. Evo's r ghey

this car does haul ass.. i wish it were awd or even rwd.. even with the limited slip differential this car literally smokes the tires on launch. i'm looking forward to putting some street slicks on to see if they'll help.
and i can get about 30mpg if i dont stomp the gas every chance i get.

i drove one yesterday at my dads job, feels solid its very spacious. i only hit it in first and 2nd, it has a feature that when the cluutch is in it holds rpms at 5250 rpms, say its ugly til you see one up close
that's the launch control system.. same as in the vette. hold in the clutch, stomp the gas and it'll hold rpms at 4k+/- until you're ready to go fast.. it limits the wheelspin fairly well.

The Chevy HHR SS has a nurburgring-tuned FE5 sport suspension that delivers a 0.86 g grip on a track. Go watch the Video of the HHR SS on the Nurburgring track at edmunds(dot)com. The car handles amazingly on that track. Look into the car before you start talking badly about it.

Well a 350 and an Ecotec are two totally different monsters. If you want torque and low end power, get the 350 and tune the hell out of it. The LT1 is an awesome engine as well. If you want high end performance, then the Ecotec is the engine for you. It isn't the smoothest, but it is by far the most tuneable four cylinder I have seen.

that's the launch control system.. same as in the vette. hold in the clutch, stomp the gas and it'll hold rpms at 4k+/- until you're ready to go fast.. it limits the wheelspin fairly well.

The Chevy HHR SS has a nurburgring-tuned FE5 sport suspension that delivers a 0.86 g grip on a track. Go watch the Video of the HHR SS on the Nurburgring track at edmunds(dot)com. The car handles amazingly on that track. Look into the car before you start talking badly about it.

The only thing that I see in its loss against the Caliber SRT-4 is it's exterior looks by a little bit. I'd still buy the HHR, just because I'm a Chevy fan over Dodge lol.

Well a 350 and an Ecotec are two totally different monsters. If you want torque and low end power, get the 350 and tune the hell out of it. The LT1 is an awesome engine as well. If you want high end performance, then the Ecotec is the engine for you. It isn't the smoothest, but it is by far the most tuneable four cylinder I have seen.
