  • can you tell me everything you got on this? this is the best custom mosin ive seen

  • @traviscarter21 thank you. i've updated the description with the requested information.

  • its that scope mount. i promise you. you have to use a 3/8" dovetail mount. only way it will work.

  • @tanker0wns1 i have to use a 3/8 mount, and what will i attach it to? it has a custom barrel, using a 3/8th mount is only for the the stock 91/30 barrel.

  • I bet its this crapy scope mount... Sorry I just hate scout setup... You live in the states ??? Yes !!! Go buy a rocksolid ind scope mount and fast....

  • @SuperChillaz the stock is still touching the barrel in odd ways. i need to hollow out the barrel channel yet. the scout scope is going to stay but the scope base may not.

  • I like that barrel...but not the mount lol. but i guess since theres no irons it dosnt matter :p

  • what barrel is that?

  • @natedsmeclipse adams and bennett h54 contour.

  • little do we know that he is shooting at a playground.

  • @ZAGGNUT1 what makes you say that.

  • @conatuslife just that you didn't show the targets you were shooting at the exact time so i said the most horrible thing i can think of.

  • @ZAGGNUT1 yea at the time i didn't have a 2nd camera. i do now so i will be doing real-time pip for my next at the range video.

  • @conatuslife nice. have fun.

  • @conatuslife

    because he has mental retardation.

  • Hey, do you know how important is the barrel crown when using a comp? I'm wondering if I should recrown my rifle now that it's using a muzzle brake.

  • try some Sellier&bellots next time, they consistently shoot 1.5 inch groups for my Mosin 91/30. also try re-torquing your mount and ring screws. very nice gun gun you have there! cheers!

  • @WhiskeyRiverRifleman What kind of primers do they shoot?

  • Comment removed

  • how hard is it to get the original barrel off

  • @monsterman27 i had to chuck in in the lather and cut the barrel with a parting tool right where it meets the receiver to release the pressure on the threads. after that it was pretty easy.

  • most scout mounts move arround.

  • @monsterman27 I removed the Factory rear sight and used a Leapers Accu-shot mount for a .22 rimfire. it fits the Mosin Nagant 3/8" Dovetail under the factory rear sight. It grips like Iron and the scope has held zero for close to 500 rounds.

  • Yeah, getting your stock bedded will probably improve your groups, cutting it in half. I'd shoot russian silver tips untill you can get a 3" group (that's what I'm getting). I think what's going on is that your action is moving around in your stock.

  • very nice brother....I still jsut love that work you did on the barrel!!! Take care man!!!

  • @joshlone1982 thanks josh. fluting the barrel was one of the easier things i did to the gun, if you don't count the trip to the hosptial after i got my glove, coat and arm wound up in the lathe while making a gauge to set up the mill.

  • whoa!!!! that is cool! How much doe that setup cost?

  • @mixflip right now there is well over 400 dollars in parts and materials plus the cost of the gun. i also made the muzzle break myself so that is not added in there.

  • @conatuslife not to be trollish... because I as Mavhunter suggests you maybe you havent bedded it yet... you could have got a rem 770 off the shelf @ walmart with glass mounted on it for 300 bones and... it would shoot tighter groups.

  • @MrAwsomeshot this build has nothing to do with money. The knowledge and experience i gained building this rifle was worth every penny i put into it. besides it's not over yet there are a lot of improvements to be made, first of all i need to free float the barrel then comes glass bedding. if the accuracy is still not where i want it to be then the scope base will be getting completely redesigned so stay tuned.

  • @conatuslife I'd probably tap into the barrel if you still want the scout mount, but you maybe better off with a conventional scope since it seems more like a prown/bench rifle. Can't wait to see which direction you'll be taking it.

  • @MrAwsomeshot if you shoot a lot, the 770 is total garbage, and a Mossberg rifle is better than the 770.

  • @MrAwsomeshot Being able to build something yourself is more satisfying that pulling something off the shelf. Eventually, he'll be shooting "1 groups with ammo that cost 1/4 less than .308 win.

I've been asked the Remington question before, except not as tactfully.

  • @MavHunter20XX No I get that dude I customize just about everything I own. personalizing and customizing can be very fulfilling. But after everything done to this gun, with only the action remaining for stock components shoots poorer than an off the shelf surplus Mosin. A bedding job prob would change this. I also would put some quality glass on there ncstar is questionable.

  • @MavHunter20XX oh and as far as ammo goes; you cant compare surplus ammo prices for 7.62r to .308 win. A 20 round box of .308 goes for as much as a 20 round box of 7.62r. So yeh you can shoot dirty corrosive surplus ammo all day and get shitty groups for 1/4 of the price sure. But I dunno about shooting consistent 1" groups with surplus. Plus after building a rig like this I would never run crappy surplus through it.

  • @MrAwsomeshot You know, I wouldn't have seen your first reply untill I looked through all the comments. Anyway, I got "consistant" 2" (meaning every 5) with silver tips before a bed job. However, I do agree, after a while, running suprlus gets errevelant as you're trying to maximize accuracy. I plan to reload as soon as I get funds to get the kit and sp I don't have to worry about corrossion and I can just tell myself, I suck at shooting and it's not the ammo.

  • @MavHunter20XX are you talking about his rifle or a build you did? I didnt see any consistency in his initial groups. I mean a man size target @ 100yards is good enough for basic use but with the barrel/stock setup seems like he is shooting for better than "Man-Sized" @ 100 yards. The scout rifle premise is "realistically sized targets at realistic engagement distances. So a 16"x24" target @ 300-500 yards. If this gun can do that then point is moot its a scout rifle yehaw.
