  • Cool...I didn't know Albannach was the name of Scottish gaelic!

  • The audio is atrocious. I can't hear a word you're saying, all I can hear is that bloody annoying buzzing noise. Can't you do it again?

  • Iei person ar youtube yn siarad Cymraeg!!!

  • CYMRAES AM BYTH!!

  • welsh is the oldest language

and the english try to take it away but they will fail just like they fail at everything...gordan brown...

  • how can u justify that comment? english is just as old as welsh - and who is to say what anyone is anymore? english and welsh ppl have mixed so much that we r all a bit of both surely. btw gordon brown is scottish....

  • glantom: No, English is not as old as Welsh; Welsh is the oldest living European language, predating English by about 500 to 600 years.

faaayee: Welsh certainly is not the oldest language, there are far older languages. And the English don't seem to be trying to take it away any more. In fact I know quite a few Englishmen learning to speak it themselves.

  • i live in hay on wye in wales, just over the brige in cyro is england. people who live this side of the bridge are exactly the same as in cyro--- we are all human!

i speak fluent welsh and so does loads of children, and im sure they wont be dead in 50 years- and im sure their children will speak welsh.

  • Helo :) Dw i'n ddod o gogledd Cymru a dwi eisau dysgu Cymraeg. Dysges i Cymraeg am TGAU, on dwi ddim yn ffraeth.Beth bynnag, hoffwn i gael y abledd i siarad Cymraeg.

See, I don't even know if that made sense :p.

  • Hey ste dwi wedi gwneud cyfres o fideos ar y safle dysgwch a dwi wedi gofyn iddyn nhw fod yn ymatebion i dy fideos di ydy hynni'n iawn? Achos hoffwn i fod y fideos sydd yn dysgu'r Gymraeg ar gael i bawb ac yn rwydd i'w cyrraedd? ti'n cytuno? Sut wyt ti gyda llaw?

    Hwyl am y tro

  • I think you'll find 'modern' english to be a true bastardisation, deriving words from many different languages including latin (introduced by the Romans!) and even German! As I said, the language in which we are having this discussion is a true mongrel, so as I said it's quite ironic that you choose to make fun of the welsh language! It's remained truer to it's original form than English has.

  • Come teach me Dutch in 50years then ;)

  • Funny that, the english tried to snuff the language out some 50 years ago by punishing school children who were heard speaking welsh, my father had 1st hand experience of this. Yet welsh is stronger now than it has been in years, decades even.

Er gwaethaf pawb a phob peth, ry'n ni yma o hyd!

  • @tristan01101

Yeah, because Dutch is just as viable as Welsh.

    Idiot.

  • @tristan01101 Are you Dutch dude? Please. Stop dreaming. Dutch'll never take over and it will be extinct in a few centuries. And yes. I am Dutch. Dus, mocht je nog wat interessants te zeggen hebben, begin dan niet over het Nederlands.

  • @xXRAINbooowXx I never suggested that I believed Dutch would 'take over'. I was mainly kidding, but the ratio of Welsh speakers to Dutch speakers favors the Dutch side. Under 1 million speak Welsh, whereas over 22 million speak Dutch. You don't have to be such a penis, love. That comment was 2 years old anyway.

  • @tristan01101 'Penis?' You should've came up with something better. Real Dutch is spoken by 16 million Dutch people. Flemish is spoken by over 6 million people.

P.S. Welsh people aren't to be less proud of their language because there are not that many people who speak it.

  • And I presume you're English and believe there's as much point to your langauge etc then yes?

  • Ha! That's funny, especially as it's written in a language that has been bastardised more by the Romans and the Vikings than Welsh ever was! Maybe you'd like to check your facts before gobbing off next time, might save you from making an arse of yourself again

  • Errr English wasn't around when the Romans invaded. Or the Vikings. in fact Olde and Middle English are seperate languages to Modern English. The only people to have bastardised Modern English is the yanks.

  • @indigodingobongo You're wrong. There was Anglo-Saxon first, which was transfirmed into Olde English. The Anglo-Saxon was affected by the Romans. They came up with place names like Manchester and Winchester. (from the Latin 'castra', meaning 'camp') They Romanised the Celtic Britons.

And it was because of the Cambrian mountains that Cymraeg wasn't bastardised as much; Wales was isolated.

  • @indigodingobongo it's the country of out farthers we should learn it

  • @elbeavo11

    your fathers forgot this language..

  • @PuetvaPROductions oviously not your speaking it

  • @PuetvaPROductions

Only Cornish truly died out. The various Gaelic languages, Welsh, and Breton still hang on, barely.

  • @indigodingobongo FK YOU!

  • @indigodingobongo

But French and German are being replaced by English anyway so why bother?

In fact, why bother learn anything other than Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, and English; all other languages are just useless by comparison!

  • @indigodingobongo thats cos the celts were too nice and progressive! WHY IS IT A BAD THING TO NOT BE THE BEST AT KILLING OTHER HUMAN BEINGS....GROW THE FUCK UP YOU DELUDED IMPERIALIST CUNT

  • mae yna gymaint o siaradwyr cymraeg yma! :D

  • Diolch yn fawr!! Dysgwr dw i hefyd! Roedd eich fideo yn fuddiol i mi <-(Roedd hi'n iawn?)Gyda llaw, dw i'n byw yn Philippines... A dw i'n hoffi eich iaith.. Diolch yn fawr eto!

  • Diolch yn fawr iti hefyd :)

    Dal ati

  • Os buasa rhywun yn gofyn i fi i pa wlad byswn i'n licio ymweld, buaswn yn deud Cymru heb saib.

  • I am English but I'm learning all these Celtic languages, Manx, Cornish, Cymraeg and Scots and Irish Gaelic.

I'm still learning Welsh, so I'm not that good...

    Siwt mae, dwi'n Saesneg.

  • mae'n rhaid caru Cymru, mae'n lle unigryw ^____^

  • Ydy pawb yn dicllon yma? Tangnefedd!

  • Cymru am byth sais mochyn ci!

  • He's all red. It's not healthy.

  • we're speaking YOUR language because we can!

but we're fluent in welsh aswell!

fluent in two languages both of which we use day to day. welsh is beautiful and special and unique and original. someone's jealous!

felly cacha bant a dysgu parchu traddodiadau gwledydd arall.

  • why don't you like wales? it's a perfectly great country which you can't speak it!!!

Felly peidia di byth deud rhywbeth drwg am cymru .. does ne ddim pwynt .. ti'm werth o!

  • LAST COMMENT NOW, PROMISE!!! - as long as no one comments me again! Right, I am saying sorry and I'd like to apologize to ANYONE who was offended by what I said. People on here seem to really be proud of Wales, I won't disrespect that. In return, I hope you don't disrespect me. Thank you all, keep up the Welsh pride.

  • Right, to all the people hating me, 'rideout' has managed to change my views on Wales. It's people like him that would make me proud to be Welsh. So all you people who are like him, well done. Keep it up! Wales needs people like you, ones that can speak Welsh and defend their country with pride! I'm leaving the insults because, people here seem to be very proud. I respect that. Where I grew up, everyone hated the country and no one spoke the language. So, I'm done here. No more comments, sorry.

  • dwi casau lloeger, saesneg ac mae saesneg pobl. cymru am byth ac tin ddim siarad cymraeg ac wyt tin twp, cachau bant tin twlt din iar!!!!!!

  • thats it dwin casau lloeger heffed.

    lol

    i hate england

  • Thanks for posting. It helped me a bit. I'll just wait for some new videos about Welsh. By the way, good job! =)

  • tetsuoshima0505 fuck off 2 england u fucking traitor we aint a shit country and we dont need cunts like u here so fuck off

  • I'm not "here" - I have "fucked off". Long time a go. Lol.

  • How come you replied, then...?

  • What are you talking about? "How come you replied" - I replied becuase I can...

  • Dysgu ein iaith

  • Good video! The only thing is is there are 2 mistakes in your description. Scots Gaelic is "Gàidhlig" ('Albannach' means 'Scottish' (nationality)) and Manx Gaelic is "Gaelg". Other than that very good!

    Beannachd leibh!

  • fuck u

  • Lol, that's it? "fuck u"? Learn how to spell for one... Just because a vowel has the same sound as a word, does not mean that they have the same meaning... So, your comment basically says "fuck u" - as in fuck the letter 'u'. Also, learn how to use some captical letters and maybe a full stop couldn't hurt, you daft prick.

  • If it makes YOU feel better fuck YOU

  • Lol, do I have to correct you myself?

"If it makes you feel better. Fuck you."

An alternative version of that would to use an exclamation point on the end of "fuck you."

  • Your fucking rong there, its realy "If it makes you feel better, fuck you" people like you make me vomit.

  • No, yours signifies a minor pause. Both are acceptable, but I see mine as more appropriate. People like me make you vomit? Why is that?

  • cachau bant, rhydw in meddwl mae rhybeth boad gyda ti

  • In reference to my other comment, If I was around people like you, that actually make Wales seem good. Maybe, my views would be completely different.

  • its shorter if u idot!

  • Ok, not only did you not use correct grammer etc. You made no fucking sense.

  • ok, but why the fuck dont you like wales

  • Lol, no I can't but my friends do. I don't want to speak a language that is pretty much being forgotten. "Fuck off, I think there is something wrong with you." - mature. I just don't like Wales, that's all. I don't like being welsh. I hate my accent. I've moved now. I'm glad to leave Wales behind =]. Look, I have nothing against you. I have respect for you, because you are defending the country you love. Unfortunately, I didn't see that side of Wales growing up.

  • Ok. But what country do you live in now?

  • So yeah, this is probably the last comment I'm making. Wales isn't that bad. It just needs more people like you! My views have been lifted, thanks. I'm stopping on here, because it isn't fair on the guy for his video to be filled with us arguing over it. So yeah, keep up the Welsh pride! I might have moved on, but I won't be slagging it off anymore =].

  • I fucking hate you, wales is the best a bet you cant evan speek welsh

  • Good point

  • first of all well done for attempting to learn our national tongue, it's a very difficult language to learn once you've grown up. I learnt welsh growing up, the same way as I learned English, so it was easyer for me, but learning it through the medium of english can get quite confuzing at times, well done! At school I had to take french lessons, so the french teacher was teaching us to speak french through speaking welsh, and when we knew french well enough she taught us spanish by speaking

  • french, it's confuzing enough explaining it, let alone being in the actual lesson! I use all of the expressions you just said, and I've just realised how many ways of saying one thing there is =] Keep up the good videos!

    Milly xx

  • hey this guy has worked hard marking these vids, there is no need for comments like yours, and please dont bother tryin to insult him by saying what u just ave in ur comment brokenglass, ur just rude!

  • fuckoff england

dda i gweld rhiwyn siarad cymraeg

  • I used to be able to speak Welsh really well but where I'm from (middle of nowhere in Iowa), no speaks it **tear**. when I went over there a couple of years ago my friend and I would have full conversations and her parents had no idea what she was saying because they never learned. so funny

I'm not going to lie, it's like the funnest language to learn.

  • sgin ti fideo am y iaith wyddelig??

  • Hey, I really enjoyed your videos. I think it's really cool you're trying to learn the gaelic languages, I am of Irish descent and hope to speak fluently one day, though it's hard to learn living in New Zealand.

I liked one of your comments on another video 'a nation without a language is a nation without a heart' or something :)

  • "cenedl heb iaith, cenedl heb calon". And its true cos if we ever did lose it what would be be? West England. Like Cornwall.

  • It would be yes. The problem is the measures taken to prolong the language are expensive e.g. turning down the best people for a job just because they don't speak Welsh. When things get expensive you have to divert valuable resources from things that most people would find more important e.g. keeping hospitals clean so people don't die before their time.

  • Yeah, that would be a pity. I think the language of the land should be compulsary in schools to help the problems, languages aren't meant to be lost! I also feel the same about the Māori language, living in New Zealand. Although I'm not particually fond of it I think learning it should be more strongly enforced here. The number of fluent speakers was only 136,700 in 2001, which I think is really sad.

  • wel, dwy'n gallu siarad iaeth cymraeg, ond dwy ddim yn teimlo yn naturiol yn siarad y iaeth yma,a rhywsut yn teimlo'n well siarad saesneg, felly,yn fy mharn i mae'n well dysgu saesneg ne mynd trwy y wersi anodd a diflas cymraig. (don't bother becouse i personnaly prefer english, save yourself time)

  • Diflas?? Dw i'm yn meddwl bod hynny'n wir o gwbl!! Mae'r Gymraeg yn cynnig llawer mwy na all y Saesneg fyth!! Digon teg, os yn fwy cyfforddus yn y Saesneg, ond does dim angen bod yn ddilornus o'r Gymraeg yn yr un gwynt nacoes?! Beth bynnag, cyn lladd ar y Gymraeg, efallai dyech wybod hyn:mae 99% o'r Saesneg yn fenthyciadau o ieithoedd eraill!! Esgus hawdd ydi troi at y Saesneg!!

o.n. dydi dy Saesneg ysgrifenedig di ddim yn rhy llewyrchus chwaith, heb son am y Gymraeg! "becouse","personnaly"?!

  • efallai nad yw fy sillafu ddim yn perfaith, ond dwy'n gwybod yn faith bod iaeth y cymraig yn dod o'r celtiaid yn hanes, hyn yn golygu fod nad yw'r iaeth cymraig yn perfaith, hefyd pam yw'r iaeth saesneg mor drwg, meddwl amdan hyn, faint o gwledydd yn siarad cymraig fel iaeth cyntaf draws y byd? check m8

i can speak english just perfectly, cant spell, but my A-level course sais "you know what,he's good at this subject",i confess,im not great at welsh, but as i said before,i prefer the english language,

  • Mae'n rhaid dweud bod yna fudd i siarad saeaneg, oherwydd mae'n un o'r ieithoedd mwya'r byd ac mae llawer o funesau yn manteisio arno. Ond dylai pawb sy'n siarad cymraeg fod yn falch i siarad cymraeg. Does dim llawer o wledydd gyda saesneg fel 'official language', dyw'r UK ddim hyd yn oed gyda'r statws yma.

  • dwy'n parchu dy farn ond dwy'n well gyda saesneg na cymraig, mae'n beth sy'n naturiol i fi,dwy'n meddwl bod pobl fell ti yn y rhai sy'n cadw y iaeth yn byw felly cadw ymlain at hynnu os yr ydycch yn eisiau.

  • cymru am byth

    Diolch - Stephen

  • Bore da. Hi, You may remember we had a that small conversation way back on your other Scottish Language videos. I'm almost ready to start dabbling myself, but I'd like to know how you keep your videos below the upload size limit that Youtube has here? Especially after you've added all the writing on Movie Maker.

I tried posting a ten-minute video I took on my digital camera, but it didn't work, too many megabites, after I'd edited it in Movie Maker. le meas, Steafan

  • I've been busy learning Cymraeg, Brezhoneg and Gaeilge in Univerity but that only teaches me more to put on here. Thank you for your message - diolch am eich neges chi
