For those interested, this was part of the "Classics Illustrated" film series, initially broadcast on NBC's The Big Event.

So this short version was supposed to mean "Taft International Television" or something like that?

It would now have the CBS Television Distribution logo, since Paramount Television first became CBS Paramount Television in 2006, then CBS Television Distribution in 2007.

A whole series of corporate mergers: Worldvision folding into Paramount Domestic Television in 1999, and then, as you have said, PDT becoming CBS Paramount TV in 2006, and CBSPTV becoming CBS TV Distribution in 2007.

Oh yeah! And this would have made a great logo for Hanna-Barbera Home Video had it existed in 1983.
