I love "Icarus", ever since first hearing it on Paul Winter's album, then with Ralph Towner and Oregon. But, this really added a new depth and power to it. Amazing. Excellent and thank you.
@smallsam52 did I watch the video...what a question. The entire thing is Ralph Towner's melody, in different settings. How old are you? 14? I've known this song since your dad was 14
This offers me a new dimension of this great track. I had never thought that anybody tried this tune playing with a slideguitar and I'm really amazed about your performance. I think I lived too long in my own past never noticed what happened in the meantime in the last years, when i was very on my own musicaly. Very nice to meet you here on YouTube. Greetings from slideede.
That was beautiful..as a fellow musician I applaud your outstanding video..the song is haunting and lovely and you played it flawlessly. I could hear the bass just fine in fact on my headphones it was perfect..aloha..kimo holland
Whatever you used to record the bass, I don't think the mic even picked it up :P. I could not hear the bass that well at all. Maybe you mixed it too low, I dunno.
Hey Kirk, this was my wedding song back in 1980! I'm glad to see the song has fared better than my marriage did! Anyway, you continue to outdo yourself. Very nicely done!
i think ralph towner should be very happy with your wonderful rendition bringing to life a modern take on his composition. i remember fondly seeing him with oregon in the 70's. especially when he pulled out the french horn.
What a beatiful song. When acoustic and electric get in unison at 4:12 is magical
