  • mmm.....im pretty sure this isnt the national anthem....its amhrán na bhfiann!!

  • It it very patriotic of Ireland

  • 1 month and then it is St. Patricks Day :D was at study trip to Dublin for 2 years ago at St. Patricks Day, and I have missed Ireland ever since.

God Save Ireland, and greetings from Denmark

  • stupid irish drunks......

  • Greeting from the U.S.

  • I won't say this is not the actual anthem cause you obviously know that already and it does not matter what you like!

The French's anthem is one of the most barbaric anthems I've ever heard and I don't go & say some other song I like better is the anthem. People already think Ireland's call is the only anthem.. u_u

Now you like whatever you want but as much as 2 and 2 make 4, Amhrán na bhFiann is the Republic of Ireland's national anthem.

Plus, why on earth would you go for a song in English??

  • @conversesauxpieds We can have as many anthems as we wish, we have loads so we could change it from time to time. Why in English?? - so everyone else can understand what we're singing!

  • @gyrofoam1 I get your point, thing is "we" is not one individual and because one doesn't like the official anthem does not give him the right to individually name another one.

I never said you could only have one anthem (rather the opposite), the only thing I go against is the misleading title of this video and the arrogance of one to discard a nationally recognised anthem cause it was not to his taste.. (better arguments being welcome)

So I should sing La Marseillaise in English?

  • @conversesauxpieds Sure, no argument from me.

    Slainte.

  • @conversesauxpieds I changed my mind. You should sing La Marseillaise in English so everyone can understand what a shite song it is. Better still, declare another song the National Anthem and sing it in Gaelic. Something by Plastic Bertrand would be grand.

  • @gyrofoam1 ahah, I like your style!

Yeah pretty horrific song isn't it!

Argh you've heard of him u_u

  • @KarmaCreep88 Ho!, I have heard..focken eejit, he did a song on one note, may've also done one with two..

  • i learnt today im half irish i was that happy ive been on irish music all night

  • good

  • i like this home at last

  • and dont tell me you dont support it.what kind of irish man doesnt like his nations anthem which is about freedom from the brits?i wont bitch at you again.just had to say that.

  • well sorry bro but its not the anthem.come on mate its all ready confusing enough for people with there being two countries and them both having an anthem.

  • Not sure where you got YOUR info, Boyo... The national anthem of the Irish Republic (not the Republic of Ireland) is "The Soldier's Song," NOT "God Save Ireland...."

  • this ain't the national anthem, it's a folk song :) It's like Ireland's call in rugby, it's not the anthem, it's only the anthem for rugby, because there are players from republic of Ireland and from north ireland... but however, the song is great :D

  • @TheVampirefreak1 it is our original anthem :)

  • thi aint irish national amthen

  • Best national anthem ever 0.0 And I'm not even Irish

  • fucking potato munching basstards

  • @steven8hamilton Thats a racist stereotype, you yellow teethed, top hat wearin, arse sniffin bastard.

  • @steven8hamilton have good dental and our anthem is patriotic, not about God saving some old hag....

  • @rjl0749 At least we have good dental*

  • you suck.

  • this isn't the anthem

  • This was not the National Anthem. It was the anthem of the split and the nationalist, not Ireland itself(as a nation).

  • This was the National anthem until around 1911. Amhrainn nA bFhiann was sung in the GPO. And ever since then it was our national anthem.

  • 26+6 1

  • One day Ireland will be united and the english were sent home.

  • @Iron1871 you mean the british.

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 What is british? Its "Great England" and his time is over. North eastern Ireland or "Northern Ireland" belongs to the Irish people and Scotland will find a way to independence. The rest of "GB" is England and Wales. I dont know if Wales and England will stay together a rest Britain. Of course: The Irish and Scots arent British or english. Ireland and Scotland are free nations.

  • @Iron1871 ..and then we will be liberated (in all ways)!

  • @BigIrishFairy Would be nice and it will come so. The Irish must believe in their unity. My support from Germany.

  • @Iron1871 heilooo another german^^ wo kommst du her?? hier bei uns is man ja recht alleine wenn man irlandsympatisant is -.-..

  • @Maxischupp93 sorry was to @BigIrishFairy

  • @Maxischupp93 Wer kann denn dir irische Kultur unsympathisch finden??? Ich freue mich schon auf die Wiedervereinigungsparty im Irish Pub. Danach oder zuvor sind die Schotten frei von den Engländern.

  • "God" Save Ireland /Salute

  • great i love irish music!!!!

  • I'm Irish and I know for a fact this is not our national anthem. Our national anthem is Amhrán na bhFiann.

  • cool song

  • Nice

  • Wow! Great song. How old is this?

  • vERY GOOD,I'M LUIS RENATO QUINLAN FROM BRAZIL I IRISH DESCENDENT.

  • I like yer anthem by the way im 120th part Irish

  • god safe ireland god kill england

  • Just looked up some of my Irish Roots.. This was composed by Timothy Daniel Sullivan. I'm a Sullivan . Thanks for the post.

  • I wish I had a kick ass Irish accent.

  • fuck all those huns who disliked

  • greetings from....ummm... england....ummmm ...sorry.....

  • Greeting from Sweden i'm a proud irish and God bless Ireland !

  • IRA are bastards

  • I love how the Welsh and the Scottish think that their history is anywhere near as muddled as Irish history. The Irish never stopped fighting; the Welsh and Scottish did. Take your home rule, it's not nearly as great as a republic. I am from America and my college offered a class about early 20th century Irish history last year. I took that class and I truly feel that Ireland has some of the richest, most interesting history I have ever had the pleasure of learning.

  • @xDEMONIZEDx I'm Scottish and I agree with you completely. I pray for the day we Scotts fight for our freedom but such a day will never come.

  • @iamdavid132 Don'"t forget that Scotland didn't entr UK by war, but because the KING of scotland (I can't remember which one), became the english king. So itsn't England that created United Kingdom, but Scotland! Sorry for my english faults but I'm French.

  • @ecio95 Aye but only for economic gain. The people still desire freedom but the politicians know it would destroy us. Look at Ireland, yes they have freedom but their economy is terrible.

  • Nice!!!

  • INRA FOREVER

  • This is the Republic of Ireland's National Anthem "God Save Ireland" with lyrics. <<<<< no.

  • Scriptireland - What are you talking about?;. You only have to listen to the words to realize what it is about. It was written by TD Sullivan, the Lord Mayor of Dublin and also the brother-in-law of the first Governor General of the Irish Free State. It WAS NOT written by the British. He was my great grand father and he spent time imprisoned by the British fighting for freedom for the Irish. He also wrote a number of Historical books about Ireland.

  • My names Erin! I'm Australian, and somehow have an Irish herritage somewhere down the line.

  • @kylandpl hopefully your a girl :P

  • @ChristopheMcGuinness yes, I am!

  • @kylandpl im canadian and i also have Irish heritage and my relatives from Ireland came over here in the 1840's, im guessing because of the potato famine so that might be why u have Irish heritage ;)

  • @kylandpl Erins an Irish name, derived from Éire, the name of our great country :D

  • @kylandpl

Not to be rude but they spelt it wrong here Éireann is the way they should have spelt Érin here.

Your name means the same thing though. It's Irish (Gaeilge NOT Gaelic, for anyone that usualy mixes the two up) for Ireland.

Love the name. That and Saoirse are my favourite Irish names. :)

  • @kylandpl So is mine :D we Have so much in common! :D

  • i wish i was irish :(

  • god bless ireland

  • I'm proud to be from Dublin! This is NOT our national anthem! Amhran na bhFiann will always be! The British scumbags wrote this! Well guess what Brits?! WE'RE A FUCKIN' FREE COUNTRY! :-D PROUD TO BE IRISH! <3

  • @Scriptireland Aye, glad to have gotten rid of you shits. We just need you out of Bonnie Scotland as well. Ye are fucking parasites here!

  • Bravo à nos amis Irlandais pour leur victoire au rugby contre l'Australie... Vive l'Irlande :) Un ami français

  • God bless Ireland!!!!!

    I'm not Irish!But I LOVE this country!!!

  • it give no many people the want to be free ,ithink the irish yeah. i see in the past the east german ,the people want to be free, what the gouverment? live in peace and freedom ,that i whish

  • ireland.. is gay, back to the pubs with ya ..

  • @TheWeedman22213 Ireland isn't gay, Denmark, Russia and Serbia is gay

  • ireland should return to the irish! give ireland back to it's people!

  • It's too bad you don't like a Soldier's song. Theres something appealing about a song sung in the GPO about dying instead of an American Federal army prisoner song with new lyrics. I do like it though. Just doesn't have the same call to me that a soldier's song does.

  • die melodie ist von einem kölner karnevalslied keine ahnung wie es heißt das hört sich aber besser an als das kölsche

  • irland must be free ,a free nation ,no fingers from the brithish

  • What loveliness, E'ire, in its glorious beauty, the famished people strong and proud, with legs which conquer and hair of the righteous anger, rising above all obstacles. God SAVE E'ire!

  • @rrclerk68

a shame that's what people remember him for now. he also brought our full independence and was voted our prime minister and even when he couldn't be prime minister we made him our president. People backed then loved him why start hating him now?

  • @xthedragonsmasterx for the reason he knew the treaty with england was doomed to faliure that is why he sent collins so he himself would have a scapegoat when the people rejected it

  • my grandparents are irish and they are so cool,a lot of drunk, but i'm italian too

  • "God Save Ireland" is much better than "A Soldiers Song". This song celebrates the history of Ireland's fight against oppression over the centuries past, while "A Soldiers Song" recalls sad times when the Irish army fought its own people in the Irish civil war. Eamon DeValera , a real asshole, screwed over the man truly responsible for Irish independence, Michael Collins,by sending him to England to negotiate a half-assed agreement with the Brits, and then leading a civil war against him..

  • Ulster is Irish! Tiocfaidh ár lá!

Galicia is Portuguese! Viva a Portugaliza!

  • Dia beannaigh na hÉireann

  • @erin57368 plx no more irish i hate learning that language but ireland a great country indead =]

  • ai greetings from dublin you ever listened to the old anthem :)

  • @USAdude30 God save Ireland from the Pagan, Fascist Muslims should be the song now a days.

  • @RA9U1 , what do you have against us pagans????

  • @lkellermanl543 The fact that you worship using satanic rituals. Your kind killed other people of different religion just for entertainment. Your kind were also, at times (a lot), cannibals. The fact you killed people for sacrifices.

  • @RA9U1 Nobody was worshipping Satan, unless they're a Satanist. Pagans follow what is left of the Old Religions that Predate Christianity... You may believe in only one god, we Don't. As to killing people of other religions, Christianity and Islam Both have been killing people of other religions for Centuries. Christianity has outgrown that barbarity, Islam still does it on a daily basis. Yes, long ago Human sacrifice was once a part of the Old Religions, but it is no longer practiced.

  • @TheHornedOne81 I hope it isn't practiced anymore otherwise you would be just as bad as the Middle Eastern Muslims.

  • this song is frickin awesome :D

  • I believe in a United, Irish speaking, Ireland. UNITED GAELIC AND FREE!!!!

  • @musicman45805 well then why are you commenting in english?

  • @kikizg100 I am catalan and thing the same thing with spain :P but wanting a united ireland has not to mean hate britain, i like both britain and ireland.

  • and by the way, speak in croatian and not in BRITAIN's language then.

  • After listening to two recordings that sounded as if they were sung by an American pop star, this was a very welcome change.

  • UP WITH IRELAND AND THOSE OTHER GOOD CONTRIES! DOWN WITH THE MOTHERF**KING CONTRIES

  • 'God Save Ireland' has evidence based lyrics...love it! Look forward to seeing the Irish rugby team and the Allblacks play in the Rugby World Cup. My two favourite teams.

  • An honest account of events back then. My father is Irish, from the south and my mother Maori from New Zealand. Im PROUD of the fact that both the Irish and Maori have never been conquered by the British..Both these peoples COMMANDED respect from the British-and got that respect in the form of signed Treaties; when these treaties 'were not honoured' by the British, the Irish and the Maori retained their dignity by their unequalled display of courage.. they fought as they do to this day.

  • @iri1mao1 Well said. My mother is Irish and my Father is Maori. I love both my heritages and am proud to be both. The hardest times are when the Irish try to take on the All Blacks :)

  • ok not bad r good

  • @thescriptlover11 I'm guessing when you grow up you will be able to type without the use of swear words. "God Save Ireland" was written in English by Timothy Sullivan born in Bantry County Cork 1827, he became the Lord Mayor of Dublin. He wrote it originally in English because, my ill informed Fenian the majority of Irish people living in what was to become the Republic of Ireland didn’t speak Irish Gaeilge or Gaelic. "Amhrán na bhFiann" (“A Soldiers Song”) was also written in English.

  • @1948bazza I'm not stupid! I know that! Tá a fhios agam a lán faoi mo thír! Mar sin ní féidir a bheith ag insint dom fíricí go bhfuil a fhios agam!

  • @thescriptlover11 I wasnt saying you were stupid but your remarks about the English were, we dont all feel the same about Ireland or the people who live there. The people in 1916 were soldiers, they could have been tried by jury and hanged, they were tried as soldiers and executed by firing squad the only sentance that was available, as all of Ireland was part of the UK at the time. I have nothing but respect for them, so please move on its in the past.

  • As a Scot I think this should be the anthem, same as Flower of Scotland in country
