  • Atomunfall: Merkst was? Tschernobyl ist gescheitert. Der Kapitalismus auch. Und weiter?

Ach, Ihr ewig gestrigen, wie Ihr mich doch langweilt! Bau doch die Mauer wieder auf.Eierkopf!

  • Чернобыль является вечной стройке и памятник за высокомерие / Chernobyl is an eternal construction site and a memorial for human haughtiness / Tschernobyl ist eine ewige Baustelle und ein Mahnmal für menschliche Hybris

  • This is a great video!

    Great anthem for socialism!

Maybe socialism is a fiction - much to my regret!

    But capitalism has failed!

  • Sure they do, it was in ussr. But still, there is no connection with soviet military power! ;)

  • bah ...Why do you ppl Blame cummonism...Just beat it..it was an Accident...and Blame US Goverment for Bombing 2 nukes on 2 Big citys in japan

  • kapjátok be!S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

  • what the hell has Soviet Military Power to do with Chernobyl?! :\

  • Russian communists took control of Soviet Military Power and Chernobyl. They were (are) murderers. They killed millions people in Siberia.

  • Shut up idiot.

  • i think it would of been a different story had it happened on that scale in say the usa,i mean russia has expendable manpower who didnt really have a say in the matter,i mean truthfully without being a cowardly custard, who would willingly go and clean a horribe shitty mess like that, with certain agony as a paycheck?i mean most of those were givin a fkin shovel and a kick up the backside, but alas they did a job of hero,s and cannot be forgotten

  • The thing is most people are now aware of the risks taken while staying close to highly radioactive sources. Chernobyl accidents was certainly what made people realize that. Before that accident, only those who worked on the physics field were aware of it. Not the general people. And for your information, an equivalent accident happened in the US in 1979 at the 3 mile island, but it remained local only because the reactor was shielded by a concrete dome, a thing that was not present at chernobyl

  • I disagree. At 3 mile island there was only partial core meltdown. Also, there wasn't an explosion at Three Mile Island powerful as the one in Chernobyl. There was absolutely no confinement structure (like the concrete dome at 3 mile island) in the world that could have sustained such an explosion at that moment , neither there is now.

  • Just so you know, 99% of Chernobyl's core radioactivity remains within the core. What melted was mostly graphite. And the explosion was made by water molecules being split into dioxygen and dihydrogen. That's that big hydrogen bubble that caused the explosion just as in 3Mi island. When the 3MI accidents happened, no any engineer from westinghouse was able to tell whether it would sustain the possible explosion. Luckily it did (twice).

  • Interesting thing is that not all the scientists agree with hydrogen explosion model. Some of them argue that there was a small nuclear explosion (The Chernobyl Reactor: Design Features and Reasons for Accident, Mikhail V. MALKO). Who knows, maybe there were both explosions at the same time...

  • I don't hate Communism. I think that Marx made several valid points in his Manifesto. I think that the key issue here is that there is no true "utopia", WHETHER IT'S A COMMUNIST OR A CAPITALIST VISION. We point to Chernobyl and say that it was Communism's fault. But how many people spend their entire lives in poverty in my country, the most capitalistic nation on earth? All in all don't base your beliefs on ideology alone because there is a lot of gray area in life

  • Chernobyl = communism.

  • yes, thank you. Americans and their geography

  • a well done indictment of a failed political and societal system of marxist bureaucracies and socialistic mediocrity

  • dybbuk, that was the most complex use of words I've ever seen. But I understand what you're saying.

  • thank you, and you're correct in what you have said :)

  • urss for ever yankies go home

  • I don't get it... if 20 years passed since then, how come all the victims are still babies?

  • Commis still have their heads stuck up their asses.

  • I was only 11 years old when this happened. I didn't fully grasp the enomity of this tragedy until now. The images of the gaping hole that housed reactor #4 are perhaps the most haunting I have seen and I don't think I'll ever forget them.

  • WITAM POLACY WELCOME POLEN

  • Yeah sure, put a reactor in space so if it melts down the radioactive materials fall to earth and polute the entire atmosphere. great idea smart one. oh and how the fuck are you gonna get the power back to the planet?

  • This was a sad part in the history of our planet. I grieve for the russians on this. NO civilian population deserves to have that happen to them. Not that i think that nuclear power doesnt have it's uses, it needs to be well monitored, and far enough away from civilians incase of a reactor meltdown. Space would be as good a place as any.

  • Who was that guy at 3:06 and 3:10?

  • 3:10 appears to be Diyatlov himself.. the man most "blame" for the fault of the reactor's failing. (considering he went outside of specified boundaries for the test...)

3:06 - its unlikely, but has a very strong resemblence to Leonid Toptinov(sp?).. "helmsman" for the reactor core that was given instructional duties by Diyatlov.

I swear that's actually Diyatlov. Yes.. even though he was in the control room at the time of explosion and some time thereafter, he didn't pass on until 1995.

  • Got to laugh @ these twisted f**ks!! if i put a gloating video of say 9/11 they would be howling from the rooftops!! they can all blow me.

  • the author is totally fucked in the head

why did u put this hymn in such video?!

dont fuking glorify those events bitch

  • I know such a joke!! didnt an american nuclear sub nearly blow up in the 1960`s??

  • There is a sying - "Nearly" doesn't count. First russian sub also nearly blew up. And in the end only in USSR the bordery of "nearly" was crossed.

  • Every heard of irony?

  • such "theme" is a bit too much for being ironic

    dont you think?

It's about human beings and their life and death. fuck your irony

watch FOX news if you need some

  • I didn't make that video, shithead. The creator used sarcasm to show the standards of the USSR back then rather than being one of the 9001 people who say "WOMG USSR s so bd bcuz dem plant blew up!!!!!!!!!111", he used a different way but delivers the same message.

  • They dont have the money to build a new shelter.

  • Which really astounds me. You'd think that countries around the world would be lining up to toss a couple bucks they're way to solve this, but so far only several countries have. The project isn't as expensive as one would think it'd be.

  • No mate billions for wars but no money for healthcare & so on

  • Agreed. It's really pitiful...in every way. :(

  • 3% are left in the reactor core!!!

look for millionensarg 1-6 on here...

  • over 70% not 3%.

  • 2% ? ... That's why the UK is trying to sue Ukraine for the fall-out registered in Great Britain and numerous tiroid cancer cases have been reported in Corse, France ...

  • bullshit

  • Hey Nordland, you numb nut. WTF did you get WWII involved in this argument, it has nothing to do with CNPP tragedy. What a dumb ass. Now, do you really think that whatever BS you say here matters well it doesn't. Nobody gives a damn about your hatred towards Russian people because you can't do spit about it.

  • How can anyone take seriously the comments of one with such a pathetically nazi moniker?

  • The japs started the war and got what they deserved. They were asked to see the test at Alamogordo, near Los Alamos (Trinity) and they refused. They were asked to surrender and they refused...Chernobyl could have been avoided! The roof wasn't made of anti-ignite materials as it should have been. Soviet mediocracy ... no comment ...

  • Both were murderers. In nuclear terms, at least chernobyl was an accident, not mass murder like Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

  • long live comrade lenin

  • I think Nordland is gay

  • Resortining ? Was that spanglish? I'm 30, I lack maturity ?Wow, coming from a troll who came here to tell us we are complete assholes for arguing it's like a compliment... You came bitchin' and whinin' here without having apported at least one solid argument or fact. Read all my comments simpleton and then say something useful. You're pathetic and really lame. Stop posting if you haven't got a clue about what really happened there, small fry...

  • Misrepresenting? I just reproduced some of your 'manners'. I really didn't know calling other people aholes y polite. Perhaps in Smallville USA it's something usual. LOLPLS get some arguments as I've claimed before or please stop posting total rubbish and barging in like a fly in a horse's bottom. Small fry...

  • onojmai you talk about good manners and in the same time use words like : assholes and threatening with IN REAL LIFE I WOULD KICK YOUR ASS. You're really pathetic chump, feel free to hang yourself really fast geek. I'm 186 and 110 kg, in reallife I bleed you anytime small fry. Get some real arguments, all you said is 100% rubbish.

  • christianjwagner, You might want to explain why the Russian Federation has the biggest nuclear arsenal in the world you frigging moron. After they reduced it!!!Chernobyl is due to russian/soviet mediocracy and huge flaws in the system. That's why communism ended in Europe you retard. Have you seen this kind of accidents in Holland you ignorant ass? They have 7 nuclear plants as I recall. Go learn some before you post total shit.

  • Research about 3 Mile Island. And don't start with that "Russian" vs "World" shit, cause the US killed 200.000 people instantly, and thousand more with time, with 2 nuclear bombs. This was an ACCIDENT. Nobody woke up with the idea to blow up the reactor and kill thousands because he is a war junkie.

  • pxc2k you Sir are a retard! How about the 20 million people killed during Stalin's purges ? How about the 4000 officers massacred in Katyn(Poland) ? How about the 5 million ukrainians starved to death deliberately during the interbellic period ? How about the Budapest victims killed by the soviets ? How about Prague ? This accident happened due to russian soviet mediocracy...

  • actually we only killed about 70-90 thousand instantly in hiroshima, 30,000 more died eventually from burns, wounds, radiation poisoning, etc., dont compare these two incidents one was in time or war the other was an unfortuante incident in times of relative peace

  • unfortune incident it wasn't unfortune they stardet the test at low power of the NPP they had broken several rules during the test...

  • yeah well thats part of what was unfortunate about it, it could have been avoided if certain steps were taken. With all the devastation it caused its amazing that it only released 2% of the radiation in the reactor (I think that % is correct Im not positive though)

  • Ha ha ha. It is very funny how stupid you all are. Whether you are stupid ignorant Americans, Russians or wherever you come from - you should hear yourself talk. It is ridiculous and a shame how you use such a severe cathastrophy like Chernobyl for your dirty propaganda. Many many people died in pain and were born with the worst diseases you can imagine. Who gives a fuck if Engish is the most important language? Or Russian? Or Portuguese? Shame on you all and go to hell.

  • 1. English (37) 2. French (23) 3. Spanish (20) 4. Russian (16) 5. Arabic (14) 6. Chinese (13) 7. German (12) 8. Japanese (10) 9. Portuguese (10) 10. Hindi/Urdu (9)

  • lfmms83 you're wrong there buddy > After weighing six factors (number of primary speakers, number of secondary speakers, number and population of countries where used, number of major fields using the language internationally, economic power of countries using the languages, and socio-literary prestige), Weber compiled the following list of the world's ten most influential languages:

(number of points given in parentheses)

  • Did you know the disaster was caused by a safety test? Like, "Let's disable these safeguards, trigger an alarm by messing with the radiation levels, and see what happens."

  • davejamz ... and we all thought Antoni Diatlolv spilled some coffee over the control panel ... sheesh ... thanks for enlightening us!

  • Good fotage and its soundtrack couldn't be any better: USSR Anthem. That shows what communism is about.

    Down the red!

  • And it is possible to learn, and here communism?

People were lost at accident.. And you about communism... You are visible is silly... People voluntary went on liquidation of consequences

    stupid Brazilian

  • At least I can speak English :D

  • At least English it`s the third language which I can understand.

And perfectly I talk in Russian. Language, much more richly, than u poor English.

Whether and here u can is free spik in German as I, it`s a question. So think that u speak, the stupid monkey - the democrat

  • kapron444, your english makes me wonder if you are 5 or 6 ...prolly 4! I speak 7 langs, beat that moron! And english is the second spoken language in the world as native speakers compared to mandarin chines. Spanish is the 3rd ... Retard! Go back to school and learn proper english drunk ruski retard!

  • Person who can hardly speak in English language is definitely the real one, to judge how rich it is.

The only Russian language's rich side is "mother words", otherwise it loses totally to English language.

  • Not to mention that, Russian is so rich but it's only spoken in Russia and some small countries they enslaved during the USSR days. English is not my first language. Portuguese is and it's more widely spoken than Russian.

  • Understand poorly, huh? I, myself, couldn't understand your third sentence.

Why am I spending my time with you, communist?

  • To the russian who claimed romanians are dirty. I don't know about you and about your toilet drinking red army, but I would ask you kindly to go back to school and learn some more. I underwent hard years in a law university and I am current working in Spain as an Export Manager for one of the biggest enterprises in Barcelona. Feel free to message me for some lessons in all areas you might have interest in. I know a lot more than you'll ever know. RexlXXXX it's no use, they have vodka for brains

  • Even if it's useless, I still think that it's necessary to argue with idiots, because if not, they shall die thinking that their opinion is the only correct one. And will never allow an idiot to die in peace. And plus it's relaxing to argue with dumb people.

  • Long live USSR....I miss u Stalin:(

  • What do i see here? a lot of idiot russians, with only insults for facts..only a few normal people.. i`m sick and tired of u russians..u are one of the most disgusting people in the world

  • LOL Thats coming from a romanian!!! Romanians are the dirtiest people in europe you believe what you want but the whole world knows that Romanians are filthy animals!

  • I have always wanted to know one thing. Way do you russians always say "everyone". Instead of saying "I think you are stupid", You say "everyone thinks you are stupid". Why do you always try to speak in the name of "world"? Have you got some kind of hive thinking or what?

  • Eat my shit. You're discusting.

  • In the battle of Seelow Heights the soviets had:1000000 men,3155 Tanks,16934 artillery pieces and lost 33000 soldiers. The german resistance had:100000 men,512 Tanks,344 artillery pieces, 400 Antiaircraft guns, lost only 12000 men. Go learn some history and stop posting retarded comments Ivan Stinkovici!

  • The USSR was getting raped by the time the US entered the war and started carpet bombing the german heavy industry.Without the western front the 3rd Reich could have allocated more troops and more equipment in the east thusly crushing the large masses of red soldiers who had late in war the advantage of numbers and not of superior technology.

  • The US took the victory from Russia, dumbass... Russia almost finished the war and then the US popped in and stole the victory. Wimps.

  • Stupid polish propaganda ? Or maybe the truth about those red butchers ?

  • FUCK YOU!

  • Stupid fag, U.S.S.R true nation with balls, not like your country that has no balls, ok maybe 1 -). Please kill yourself idiot and don't post stupid comments like that. The greatest national enthem ever. LOL comparing India and U.S.S.R? wow you are very stupid, how old are you 5? Beating the greatest war machine which is Germany required a huge economy, India didn't even have tanks back then probably. PLEASE KILL YOURSELF YOU LITTLE TWAT.

  • Yeah if you were inside the containment thing maybe. The area right around it the radioactive dirt was even shoveled up. In fact until a few years ago Reactor 1 at that plant was actually being used!

  • By draining the water from it like those idiots did.

  • The 10 million women raped is ludicrous, not to say not documented and silly, In Germany(counting Pomerania and East Prusia) the general accepted number wobbles arround the figure of 2 million. The germans raped also a very high amount of soviet women and the SS Einsatzgruppen killed more people than the raped women by the Red Army soldiers. Do some reasearch before posting dumbass facts without any good sources and solid facts.

    Regards

  • I know, my fault, only after I had posted I started to think was that really the correct number, and considering that in Germany, at that time, lived around 60M people I had very heavily exaggerated.

One last thing, I think that there are things worse then death, so I wouldn't compare killed and tortured or raped people.

  • RexlXXXX, the latest and commonly accepted number of deaths during the stalinist purges reaches 20 million. Read top pioneer researcher Robert Conquest for further info about this. Winners tend to write history. The one fact you're discarding is that the presence of the Red Army in Europe was due to the invasion of the USSR by the German Heer back in 1941. The german troops killed 19 million soviet civilians ...

  • Well yes, but with Stalin's death nothing ended, and the USSR had existed already before Stalin. So the number of victims goes way above 20M.

In 1941, really big soviet army was on the Soviet-German border, and it's pretty clear that they where not preparing for a hike. USSR even without German attack would have ended up occupying huge part of Europe. Such writers as Viktor Suvorov very well fortify that.

  • they think them silly masks protect them

  • The masks were there to prevent them from inhaling nucleids in the radioactive dust. It generates aplha emissions into your lungs and later leukemia and radiation disease which lead very fast to a slow and painful death. get documented before you go on posting total bullshit. The importance of blocking nucleids from entering yourrespiratory system was discovered after the studies on the 12th of August 1945 in Hiroshima...

  • those men in the helicopter all died the day after....the men who rushed in to try to quell and clean the situation...are heroes. They knew how grave the situation was..and that they would die....

  • A chyo tuda gimn vlepili?

  • FUCKING USA CREATING!!!

  • True ijdijd. And what about smoking ? Smoking causes maney maney times more cancer than Chernobyl ever did. Or does.

  • Not as many people worship him as you think.

  • not that funny ...

  • poor children of chernobyl...

  • The Soviets are a bunch of lying cowards who care more about their political image than the condition of the russian people. Chernobyl is just one of the example. Remember that submarine disaster (the "Kursk") that occured just few years ago? They refused to let other countries help out in the rescue mission, and this resulted in the death of the sub's crew.

  • do you want to bet, do you really want to bet, between USA and USSR, which one lied the most - and caused the greatest catastrophes this world would ever know, even with "international" help? think before you open your mouth.

  • Calculate the number of civilian deaths in Irak, Afganistan, Iugoslavia and all other places the americans went, and then talk about who is lying.

  • The absolut minimum of people who died in ussr goes in 30.000.000 mil. people, but precise numbers shall never be known. Why? Because even the dead ones, are not allowed to have peace in that stupid country!

If we count together the number of eople who died because of USA the number wouldn't even be 1/100 of the ones that died in our great preletariat republic.

  • RexlXXXX - what do you mean by 30.000.000. Almost that many USSR ppl (22M) died during the WWII (half of them civilians), while trying to protect your ass from fuckin' hitler. How does that speak bad for USSR. America on the other hand protects nothing they only destroy. U are comparing X apples with X/100 oranges... makes no sense!

  • First of all, it's an discutable matter, how meny people died in 2WW in USSR, because as ussualy such info is top secret. So the number could also be just 13M, there is absolutly no gurantee, that these numbers are correct.

Second, that is the number that died from repressions in USSR, I didn't include WW2 victims.

  • Strange isn't, that USSR was protecting my ass for the next 50 years from Hitler, after the end of WW2. USSR protecting another country is like Hitler would protect judes.

Russian army itself was much worse than german, the only thing that they could possibly do was to pillage, rape and burn. The number of women that were raped went into 10th of miljons. And so was in every country that USSR saved. Germans did less damage in 4 years of occupation than russians in one.

  • You are an idiot RexlXXXX. Long live U.S.S.R. true heros of ww2 not like those other countries that claim to be the winers. LOL your comment was very funny stupid idiot, U.S.S.R had the right to rape those fucking germans for invading U.S.S.R. and you probably think germany never raped women in U.S.S.R.? Stop listening to that stupid polish shit propaganda too. YOU MY FRIEND ARE AND IDIOT!

  • Surprise, surprise it turns out that now raping is legal, is it allowed by law to do so in your country? After your logic Germans had also the right to rape russian woman's, because USSR was preparing an attack on Germany.

  • Just curios are you twelve, or simply uneducated, saying that India didn't have tanks in WW2 (India didn't exist at that time), having sentences consisting practically only from such words as "fuck" "idiot", well sure that at least explains why you are so fond of USSR, pathetic uneducated people always had a god life there.

  • FUCK YOU!

  • "U are comparing X apples with X/100 oranges... makes no sense!"

This sentence makes no sense, you mean that it's impossible to compare number of people who died in one country with number of casualities in ather countries.

  • One thing that the Soviets did correctly was quickly make that sarcopagus in not letting any more raditation get out of the plant. Sadly many workers will die a horrible slow death from the radiation due to closing off the plant.

  • thats total bull dude, it was one of the fastest evacutaions ever recorded. And the town was built around the plnt, so the workers were close. Read a history book, and dont belive NATO propaganda all the time.

  • Why is that set to proud, happy music and set alongside parades and other Soviet achievements?

  • irony

  • Ill Admit, it wasn't the safest of facilities, but, it worked, at a time when the US were scared to even atempt these things in a populated area, but, i guess thats why ther soviets failed, they were pioneers.

  • Hahahaha. Metallicakicksbutt, you know the first detection of massively increased levels of radiation was in Sweden... that's not that close to Chernobyl, either... Tehran, Iran got black rained on. That's not that close to Chernobyl, either. The UK tried to sue the Soviet Union because of the increased radation in the air... that's not that close to Chernobyl either. In conclusion, you have no clue in hell what you're talking about.

  • Grausam.

  • Ragemanchoo and zeroic you are both communist fucks. You are welcome to leave and go to any number of foreign countries where pooping in a hole in the ground in public is common practice. You would fit right in there!

  • USA had a nuclear reactor accident in Harrisburg in 1979 but not this serious.Chernobyl mostly affected people in the area. This romanian guy is full of it.Romania isn't that close to chernobyl.

  • What about Three Mile Island?

  • Communisme is poop

  • I think that sign at :23 says "We [Russians] support and approve of the domestic and foreign politics of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union."

  • Nope... Learn to read russian.

  • StereoGtxFilms wrote 'discusting'. You mean DISGUSTING, right? Learn english properly or stop posting total bullshit. I speak 7 european languages. I said EUROPEAN, that meaning I don't speak russian you mindless imbecile. Reasoning with you is a sisiphic task, you're useless!

  • ussr?urss maybe....

  • Hey this looks like modern USA! Where's Bush hiding?

  • Huh? I never knew we held propaganda filled marches with huge posters of GWB. You're a fucktard...I hope you get AIDS for christmas.

  • La wea pro gringa los post la kaga

  • yes only 2 incidents with a nuclear bomb on PEOPLE there have been many tests all iran are doing is testing one and the USA have a uproar what right d othey have to tell them what to do

  • All surviving liquidators received a medal for their duty in cleaning up the mess, although most of them died very quickly. I find it almost sad that you can purchase these medals on eBay and the like.

  • Almost everyone involved in cleaning up knew about radiation poisoning, but they didn't really know how serious it was. There are still a few "liquidators"(the people who cleaned up the mess at Chernobyl's NPP) alive, last I checked. Most of them describe it as the air smelled and tasted strongly of metal, and they had the sensation of pins and needles all over their entire bodies.

  • Im glad I live in New Zealand, you guys ALL have issues!!

  • It's funny, the U.S used both bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order to win the war right?? But hey we're talking about 1945, when the war was all but won. Most historians agree the US used the bombs in order to send a message to their foes and to their "ally" the USSR, that they had achieved nuclear energy and that they were going to use it.

  • We should remember chernobyl and Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb launched by the Americans (USA). Chernobyl was an accident and the worst disaster ever seened before, instead Hiroshima and Nagasaki was not a disaster, the USA hates to Japaneses and they kill all people of that cities in japan (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) so you Fk american shut your fk mouth because it is all your fault.

  • sat Yankee scum.... Remember Three Miles Island!

Hahaha USSR is democracy, you are bastards and fascists!

  • Yes, because we all know that Capitalism helps stop nuclear disasters. =/

Communism, Capitalism, Democracy, Represented Republics, who the fuck cares? People died because of a huge catastrophy and it is absolutely tragic. They died slowly because of this. Radiation does not care what the fuck form of government you're using.

  • All I am trying to say is that when you are in a country like the US is completely different... this is the only nation that respects its people and treat them the way they deserve to be treated. This nations gives you all the RIGHTS you must have and more. I understand Soviet people...I mean, you guys have struggled through out all history...you have been to many wars...and your people have suffered a lot...and you deserve better..blame your politics, they are not the right ones.

  • What about the privatized healthcare system? As a Canadian I just had to question that. Although my country has some serious problems as well (incompetent justice system, health care systems are becoming corporate run as well, neglected military budget, rediculous amount of taxes (14%) etc).

  • By your definition of "democracy" People...then I have to tell you that NOT EVEN ONE NATION OF THE WORLD IS DEMOCRATIC.

    Please...be serious.

NaturalLandNeutral, you have to listen to what "your" people tlak about "your" country here in the US....it is not as great as I thought it was. but anyways.

  • The USA is not a democracy.

It is a represented republic. There is a difference. It's very slight, but enough to make them two different things.

Think of the pledge of allegiance.. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the US of A, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands.."

  • A democracy is a system where the people literally have 100% control. No representatives, no president, none of that. The entire population of the country IS the government. That's not how it is in the USA; in the USA, we simply vote representatives into office to make our decisions for us.

  • And to those that talk (beep) about the US....I have a message for you...If it wasn't for the USA you would be eating German Sausage and Poison Soup provided by Nazis...perhaps your families would be rotten beneath this surface....ok. So do not be so ungrateful with the US. And here Democracy counts...We do what we think is right..and we talk what we want to talk. No Restrictions because we all respect civil rights. By far the US is a great nation, economically and socially.

  • By 1937, everyone knew what was going on in Germany and what the Nazi regime was doing and trying to do... It wasn't until 1939 that other nations decided to do something about it. The Polish Brigade, the Canadians, the Brits and the Soviets, to name a few. It wasn't until the USA was attacked in Pearl Harbor that they started planning their involvement. Then... yeah. I don't need to say anything more. June 6 is half way through the year.

  • That's not to say the USA wasn't an important part of the fall of the Nazi regime, but don't try to make it sound like the USA is the reason why everyone is alive, please. Nobody wants to hear it. And don't call the Canadians pussies when it comes to modern conflicts, either. See: Bosnia, Afghanistan(Operation Aniconda, where Canadian snipers saved "American" asses), etc.

  • I think nuclear power is a great energy resource....but now with this North Korea issues, it seems some of us have forgotten how to use it.

Communism does not pay off at all. It might be good at the beginning but then Communist nations start running out of resources and economical budget.

I'm sure none of the former Soviet nations want to be part of Russia anymore. It really has brought disaster and disgrace to those people.

  • i live next to sellafield and yes i agre that the irish sea is very polluted they shouldnt have dumped the low level waste in the sea thanfully they are stooping ti now they are decomissioning the pipes

  • [sarcasm] Yeah, duh, the USA is not a Democracy! What, just because people in America can vote and have equal rights and a Constitution that's been in place since 1789, that doesn't make the US a Democracy. You want Democracy, look no further than North Korea. Now there's a democratic country! [/sarcasm]

  • It's a Republic

  • True, but you can still call the USA a democracy since it's under democratic rule.

  • This just shows how worthless and mindless politics muddle up what ammounts to a senseless tradgedy that could have been avoided.

God bless those workers in that incident. They were braver than I would ever be in that sort of situation. And god bless those camera men who died recording the incident.

  • FUCK USA... Long Live Democracy... therefore Long Live the USSR... remember Sellafield, and Three Miles Island you stupid fool !

  • I have visited and been with a small group to within 50 meters of the destroyed Nuclear reactor. The radiation level was moderate recently i seen a documentry from an australian news crew that were able to enter the reactor and to the very control pannel that the guy's were sitting at who were responsible for the disaster. It is relativly safe there. No you can not live there... I can assure you, Living in Newyork and you would have recieved more Radiation then i did

  • you can be inside the control room for 2 min. its very cool that you have been there.

how did you get the trip to Chernobyl and please can you tell what site you get the trip please i want too go there i have seartch for it on Google but with no results so please can you post a commet and say where i should look .

  • There will never be another Soviet Union. Ukraine is a good country but economically it has struggled since it separated from the Union. Russia is weak nowadays. COMMUNISM DOES NOT PAY OFF PEOPLE!!!

Look What is Had BROUGHT!!! Death among Russians!!

Stalin killed his own people...the very Russian people. I admire Leaders who killed the Enemy, but not their own people.

    LONG LIVE USA AND DEMOCRACY!

  • Since when exactly has the USA ever been a democracy? Land of the free - my arse! I think you need to read up on the hisotry of Russia before making such comments. Marx's idea was that communism can only occur in an advanced capitalist society (and then only after socialism). This has never happened - Cuba, Russia, Vietnam, Cambodia etc

  • I like soviet anthem:)

  • The US Gov's actions were not the cause of 9/11, the USSR was using a terrible type of Nuclear Reactor for Chernobyl, not to say that there's a such thing as a good one, but they could have at least used a safer type.

  • Ya, but looking now, US is probably using/selling what was used in those reactors. I.E. Ayatollah/Iran 80's...pssh who gives a fuck anymore...I hope Midnight comes early this year!

  • As much as I would like to not agree with you, that new project, "ALICE" Might just bring midnight early. D:

  • and a man's mistake does not represent the country. It wasn't a "terrible type of nuclear reactor", it was the reactor of the day.

  • But Chernobyl did to an extent represent the USSR. The disaster at Chernobyl was a MICORCOSM

  • But Chernobyl can be seen as a microcosm of the entire Soviet System. It was poorly designed like Reactor #4. And it wasn't one man's errors it was a large handful of men who made drastic errors. It was men in the control room as well as the men who commishioned the reactor in the first place. If the USSR cared more about quality and less about quantity, Chernobyl never would have happened.

  • I never said it represented the country,

and yes, it was a bad reactor type. The RBMK type reactors were less safe then the other reactor types of the day. They were just cheaper.

  • the radiation wont be gone for another 1000 years hmm i wonder what they'll do then

  • technically, never. the halflife is in the range of a few hundred years, but despite going through hundreds of halflife's, there will still be additional radiation present beyond the background and sun sources. Will it be dangerous in a few hundred or thousand years? Probably, not. Indeed, much of the no-go zone is safe to traverse. Unfortunately, there are scattered 'hot-spots' as well as vehicles wreckage depots and the plant itself.
