  • is it too late to become a DEVO fan??

  • @dannyofthededd We Are Devo-and have been for 30+ years so it's

Never too Late to become a Spudboy/girl!!!

  • See WAY ahead of their time...Auto tuning in the 80's!

  • T-Pain looks really pale...

  • Pacific Northwest DEVO-T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw Jesus in my stew today too

  • Appears that most of the song was preprogrammed (because I KNOW Bob 2 isn't playing all of those keyboard parts).

  • @sharikmarius I could be wrong, but to me it sounds like the only thing that was preprogrammed is the bass line.

  • GOOD FUCKING GOOOOOOD!!! They are INSANE MAN!!!DO YOU HEAR ME??!!! INSANEEEEE I SAY!!!!

  • I remember how great this melody is when this was originally broadcast back in the 80s. Had to wait a decade or two before they released this on CD.

  • Did he really say "I saw Jesus swimming in my stew" ??? That's pretty ballsy for live TV in 1981! I think Jesus should make a come back too. And give us praise for how devo-lved we've become.

  • eliminate the ninnies & the twits! NE1 know where I can find the musicvid 4 this. Its a great video..

  • Auto-tune in 1981. Fuck you, T-pain!

  • @hintysen

    That's called vocoding, it's different to auto-tuning

  • Through being cool..... time to beat some butt. Theme song for iraq. Ha Ha luv it.

  • This was years and years before Imogen Heap's vocoder vocals.

  • @garydunncolumbusga stevie wonder and kraftwerk did it before them

  • @fuckamericanidiot and bruce haack did it before anyone else, whats your point?

  • @milkygear because someone said about imogen heap doing it before devo, but yeah you're right

  • @fuckamericanidiot my mistake, i didnt read that part. but yeah, this is way before imogen.

  • @milkygear haha and i didn't know that, and when i said 'yeah you're right' i meant yeah why does it matter anyway?

  • It's nice to be reminded what a fuckin awesome live band DEVO is!

  • I thot I saw Jesus too... but naw, it was just Owen Wilson, hangin out on Venice Beach between acting gigs, smoking crack

  • New DE-VO out Spring 2010. DE-VO live concert at the 2010 Olympics. DE-VO live at Coachella 2010!!!!!1

  • Blogged. Thanks for posting/embedding.

  • I love this

  • it's Plastic (joke hair; on store rack w/ whoopee cushion, plastic icecube w/ real housefly[ha!], etc). Also wore Rector original Pro SkateBoarder elbo &knee pads on SNL.....

  • Great hair

  • @dingleberrycherry it is a plastic wig...

  • That Jesus, he's everywhere.

  • What people did not realize about devo is,

    that they were extremely talented!!

  • Its cool DEVO

  • My favorite DEVO song. One of the at least.

  • Gerald is the fucking man.

  • LOVE IT!!! :)

  • praise bob...bob saves...he's just really fucking good at it...

  • I got a big house and a great family following Jesus.

Thankfully I lost it all by follwing J.R. "Bob" Dobbs.

Glad I got saved from following all the pink normies.

  • Hey thanks to whoever put these vids up. Amazing band and great to see them doing this stuff live. Nice one.

  • A bit funk, a bit fusion (solo synth), a bit dance, a bit anthem fun/catchy stuff!!

  • and the cool people are from Ohio!

  • All the cool people are from Ohio :)

  • what would you call this type of music? retro?

  • i would call it "100% pure AWESOME!"

  • new wave or post punk

  • i'd call it the good type.

  • Interesting bands can never get on TV anymore. Sucks.

  • Dig the Rod Blagojevich plastic hair!!

  • wicked

  • Yeah.

    -Jerry.

  • Could you imagine the networks letting a band open up with a song that mocks Christian gospel music today? Like on SNL? Or Leno? It's unthinkable.

Just more evidence that devolution is real.

  • Do remember that the Christian Right rose to power with Reagan with his election 11/80.

  • What a MORON to say "they flushed their careers down the toilet"? Devo was the best white band EVER, and the New Traditionalist album was not only, as your boy states above, "pure genius", but pure FUNK. Learn about music Skippy. WAIT! that`s beyond your simple ass. :) Go listen to your Slim Whitman CD and stfu. :)

  • I agree, the music on this album is good, regardless of the lyrics. But Devo without a sense of humor is like a fish without water. They've always been about detached irony. This album was like a long whine. "This time we're serious!" Whoops...no thanks. Their new album looks promising.

  • If you don't believe me, listen to them. "We're through being cool". They knew what they were doing. Flush...down the drain. Their decision.

  • Well said oaklandraiderz76! ;)

  • Pure genius. Devo was right about so many things, including the then-new rise of the religious right/Neocons. One of the best bands to ever make it into the mainstream.

  • [bump} Here we have Devo's crowning media achievement: the space-age spiritual, I Saw Jesus into Thru Being Cool, a Mcluhanesque rejection of all we idolize(d).

What an act!! Don't make them like this anymore...

  • They pretty much deliberately flushed their career down the toilet with this album. I wonder if they regret it. Regardless of whatever they had to say, stylistically they were revolutionary.

  • how did they flush there career down the toilet with this album?please tell me (not being a smart ass just curious)

  • What could they have done about it, schnook.

  • What the shit are you talking about.

  • freakin' amazing. couldn't get away wit this on network tv today. no making fun of jesus

  • Fuckin love this song.

    Great song to dance to.

  • fuck, I am still so amazed. Devo owns my soul.

  • Fridays and DEVO were a better match than Filet Mignon and Lobster! I'd love to see Disney TV (the current owner of the old Fridays episodes, I believe) release DVDs of each season. It put SNL to shame!

  • Michael Richards has to sign off for them to release the DVDs.

  • went to see a nyc cover band called Loser's Lounge do a DEVO night. the club owner said it was the worst attended Loser's Lounger ever (they pick a band and just cover all their stuff for a night). I love DEVO and I love that it's still uncool to love 'em. We're through being cool!

  • supreme.

  • Friday's kicked ass. I liked that show a lot.

  • absolutely awesome

punk/new wave with science and occasionally a trampoline

watching these again on the net makes an old spud happy

  • Devo rules.

  • I saw Jesus at dinner swimming in my stool? Ick.

  • lol it was a while before I figured out he said "stew" and not "stool".

  • wait 24 hours and both would be correct!

  • eliminate the ninnies and the twits

  • "Now I saw Jesus in the morning by the Burning Bush..." oy!

  • Are we not Men?

  • Flawless performance.

  • i like the fact that this song says its ok to have a face like Picaso drew....

  • Here we have Devo's crowning media achievement: the space-age spiritual, I Saw Jesus into Thru Being Cool, a Mcluhanesque rejection of all we idolize(d).

What an act!! Don't make them like this anymore...

  • Did Mark's plastic hair fall off?

  • yes it did! it was twards the ending it fell off

  • you would think that his trial lens frame glasses would had fallen off first, not the glued on pomp, i have a pair, those things are heavy

  • is this beginning supposed to be dove?

  • Dove -- The Band Of Love.

  • no, this is before they were doing the commercials you first heard them on.

  • Who's the chick hosting?

  • Fantastic. Fridays rawked!

  • I thot Fridays was better than SNL during that time period.

  • This is from their "crap" period

  • Really. Most of their great was work pre and post whip it IMO. Oh No its devo was a great album. All their albums including Oh no and everything before is awesome

  • shut up...

  • dude you are lost.

  • This is a great song, asshole.

  • I didn't say it wasn't....grow up.

  • :D hee hee naughty. get out the whip.

  • lol. look them up on the wiki. Ohio isn't in Canada. :D

  • LOL..

  • All five memebers of Devo were born and raised in Akron, Ohio.

  • Tight as shit. A great American rock n roll band. Cant fuck with it.

  • Christopher Hitchens must love Devo with their irreverent Jesus stuff. Post more if you have it. Devo was ahead of their time.

  • This is so surreal...mash those evil spuds boys!......brilliant...keep them coming please!

  • George Lucas should have recruited Devo to do the music for Jabba's Palace - THAT would've been SWEET! The original "Max Reebo" band music sounded like this...

  • the fat synth bass is awesomemmamzzez

  • Not my favorite track, but well worth it for aficionados. Outstanding synth riffs from this era.

  • There's an entire generation that thinks a vocoder was discovered by Hip Hop wrappers.

  • through being cool is such a weak track, shame

  • BAH! Its the answer to whip it and how they got away from mainstream

  • .....yes.....and?

  • bah, there are weaker tracks, don't fuck1ng complain

  • ok friendly twat

  • Sweet vids...thanks for sharing with us!

  • 2:10 yeah!!!

  • this is great:)

  • hahahahaha
