  • "It's very much like a book." Huh. Maybe that's because it's BASED ON A BOOK. idiots.

  • hehe.. i find this video rather funny.. deciding the being of the whole country based on this movie shows how geographically intelligent you are .. i dont blame you though.. from where you are its obvious,..

  • These ppl are so ignorant.India is definately all slums or all poor.

  • Never go to India ???? it like seeing 'Wildest Police videos' and deciding never to go to USA or UK or whtver

  • the movie isnt ALLof inida. not all of india is that way.......come on....

  • i was in india when i was 6, it was exactly what it was. there were sooo many poor people. the first thing i said when i got off the planes was "what the fuck is that smell?" my family used to tell me never to keep out of sight because kids get kidnapped.

  • hahah.. these guys are hilarious. don't think any of them actually been to India.

  • worst review ever, seemed like this movie went WAY over their heads. "Never go to INdia" I mean come on.

  • you are rite ETworldjone.....this guy judges india just watching a movie and he decided that never ever go to india is completely stupid

  • I kind of think that you're missing the point of humor.

  • (contd.) So, to make a decision on visiting India by seeing this movie which was actually, made from the perspective of a Britisher is just ridiculous, stupid and ignorance.

  • What you see in 'Slumdog Millionaire' is absolutely NOT India. India is a big nation with different cultures and languages among a billion people!!! This movie does not even fully portray the truth about those who live in slums. But its a good movie about how a poor boy despite being poor and downcast does everything he can to be together for the one he loves. Its a 'rags to riches love story' more than anything else.

  • I'm Indian...and please realize that India is not all about slums...there are lots great things, four of the richest people in the world are from India, there is tremendous beauty there and people live well...Slumdog is a great story but it only shows one dimension of a five dimensional country. Go visit the country...and see for yourself.

  • Finally, this is a great lesson that India has given to Hollywood. We knew thay could send an engine to space; now we know they can do better than Hollywood. These child actors fly way above "The suite life of who you know".

  • I compare this movie to Bob Marley being the first superstart from a Third World country. Because he was singing about stuff that related to us, the foundation of his fan base was set in 3rd world countries. Similarly, although I have never been to India, my 1st reaction after viewing themovie was "I know this place". It looked so much like West Africa, where people have huge dreams, and an eternal beliefe that better days are coming. This indeed, can hardly be understood by Westerners.

  • It's amazing to realize how difficult it is for westerners to "understand" what was going on in some of the scenes. For people like myself who grew up in a third world country, being beat up by adults was part of the culture. Your mom, your dad, your school teacher, the policemen, etc ... that was routine (to a certain point). But I understand that for others, it will be very difficult to accept the fact that even in situations like these, peaople can be extremely happy about their life.

  • You dont even deserve to visit India anyway and u dont know anything.. so shut your mouth..

  • the fat guy who says the motto of the movie is never go to India is a idiot

  • What the hell does that guy mean by sayin-" Never, ever go to India".

Yes I agree that it's country where u can see extreme wealth and extreme unimaginable poverty at the same time, and v r a reaaly corrupt country..but India is a totally different and amamzing experience.....if u have lived in India u can liv ein any part of the worl dand live through any misery that the world has to offer.

  • And btw..that was a JOKE that he made...people like you show your ignorance by getting fired up for no reason, and then call the Americans ignorant for thinking we are ignorant

  • Come on you idiots!! Yes, India has parts that are worse off than most of America, but both countries have their fair share of rich and ignorant people and also their fair share of people like you who have no life other than telling each other about how stupid you are...Slumdog is a great movie....and what it portrays about India is in no means false..you can't show everything about a country of a billion in one movie!! And yeah, I'm an Indian.

  • 4 out of 10 richest people in the world are Indians if you dont believe me check out 2008's forbes list....you dickheads...............this movie shows the poor part of india which is also a way of life........they can sleep without sleeping pills you assholes..............and even in NEW YORK there are thousands of homeless poor people....and still they are much more full of life not like you pepsi drinking ......popcorn munching empty from the inside fuckers

  • So ... let me see if I get your argument and everyone else's argument. India does have horrible shit hole areas ... but that's alright, because the rich piggish American's don't know about the hyper inflated super-rich areas of India that are apparently more bloated and obscene than most of America. So a nation's value is based on how rich it is ... which is exactly that argument AGAINST America. Genius. One gold star for everyone. But you have to share it.

  • wht the fuck is this guys talking about never going to india......the only thing india is not having is a proper infrastructure and we have been independent since last 61 years only and yet we are one of the superpowers of world and one the best developing countries....

  • So why would that make him want to go there (and he was joking by the way)

  • oh and the $2 BILLION house in Mumbai - is a 26 storey skyscraper in which only 6 members of an Indian family live.

  • That's good ... so ... what you're saying is .... stupid rich American, don't you know Indians are more stupid and more rich than you?

  • That is the single most disgusting fact I've ever heard about India. More disgusting that temples for worshiping animals, the desecration of clean water due to dated religious rituals, and the abuse of the poor. This guy in the video was joking, but you proved the decadence and skewed Western values that he was only kidding about. You, in a single paragraph, proved your stupidity, arrogance, and complete misunderstanding of basic human communication. So basically, you're an average YouTuber.

  • If mumbai has these dirty slums then let it also be known to stupid Americans - that Mumbai also has the most expensive Private Residence in the WORLD - worth US$ 2 Billion.... google it - if you don't believe me.

  • ONE THING - after seeing this review is - NEVER EVER GO TO AMERICA, americans are the stupidest people on earth if they think the fiction in this movie is what all of India is like. Before making a statement like Never go to India- why dont these idiots educate themselves about the 100,000+ Royal Palaces in India.. I guess no western director would ever show all that about India. This movie is only successful in USA - because of the STUPIDITY of Americans.. no one else believes it like they did.

  • check this video on youtube .. watch?v=loxV8R6cY4I&NR=1 .. thz our India... energy of over a billion ppl.. abt to explode.. itz a bottle of champagne abt to explode... u dont want to be in path of its cork... so stereotypical intellectuals... backoff

  • i think it should be understood that India isn't that bad in the present. if you have watched the movie, you'll realize or observe that when the actors grew up and met, the older brother was looking at the sprouting buildings in and said that their place was replaced by these big buildings...this tells us that poverty was somehow diminished in India unlike when they were still kids..

  • Just saw the movie. It paints a highly negative pic abt India, creates an impression amongst westerners that India is just abt slums, monsters harrassing the poor. Well guys I agree its not the best place on earth. but also has some of the better thngs.. ppl r definitely good, helpful & sympathetic towards the poor.. its just that the GOI started doing the right things at the macro level late in the game. 10 more years of consistent growth n we may no longer hv anythng to look towards u guys!

  • The movie was good but it breeds pretentiousness...like the guys in this video.

  • Huh? I'm not sure this is a valid statement. I mean, so they liked the movie, big deal. Statements about India are so obviously facetious I don't see what the problem is. And I've seen the flick, it's not pretentious, it's actually so simple and old fashioned and straight forward that ti's a wonder it's been accepted by critics at all.

  • nobody is inviting the fucking asshole to india. These are stupid guy talking in this clip..he who said that never ever go to india..should know that he has to losse his weight first coz in india we dont have such pigs ..we have humans not fatty pigs like him

  • No need to take it personally. He felt he could not go through the experience of seeing some of the poverty and squalor in India. What is wrong with that? I bet there are many things you cannot bear to see too. You are still a baby who cannot take any opinion, so grow up.

  • It's just a joke. Don't panic.

  • Don't you worship pigs? Oh wait, I"m wrong. You worship cows and float dead bodies down public water sources. That's right. I forgot.

Um ... honestly, I think you're blowing this statement out of proportion.

  • your statment shows that you are pure pig...you asshole .should eat some shhit and you kinda of people are jealous of developing india ..and cant see your country going down..mind your economy ..and thn if you are not able to improve it ..come to our country ...we have lots of shhhit there for you

  • What are you talking about?

  • Dude! dont comment abt religion. thz very offending. n don't be so judgemental. itz not as simple as u put it. u cant paint it in black n white... there r the -ve things... n itz a evolving society... evolving for the good... and bro... if u want to comment.. spend some time understanding it better... u shall have a changed mind... unfortunately as u mentioned most western critics do no good in building ppl's perspective... hmm...itz a matter of time.. we shall catchup!

  • i ish people ud understand that this movie (a brilliant movie) does not represent india...it only represents a PART/SECTION of india..

  • cool review!!

  • i saw the movie..... its awesome...Hey all i want to say is do go to India..... Awesome people....trust me!! SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE is going to do very well.

  • Great movie... Kindda paradox to say that its uplifiting when it actually is so dark... but it is!!! And yeah, the last dance.... ppl were grooving in their seats.... so was I ;-)

Really uplifiting to sum in up! I, now, am longing go to India!!!

  • thanks for d review

its unfortunately not still released in india but i m really going 2 check dis out as soon as it releases

  • lmfao at the guy who said never go to india

  • the movie was based on a book, no kitting i dont know by whom

  • SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE-It is a real good movie, ofcourse made for the global audience. But back here in india the movie didnt click with the general audience. The reason being the film just shows what real India is all about. It is just like holding a mirror to the audience and showing back what we see. But yes i did enjoy the movie, a slumdog becoming a millionaire and the happy ending of Jamal and Latika.

  • film did not work in india? what are you talking about ? its not even released in india yet.

  • exactly, how can you say that when the movie isn't even released in India yet?

  • your so stupid!!! its not released in india yet demonrod22!

  • Slumdog doesn't release in India until Thursday the 15th or the 22nd... I am not sure which date exactly but it definitely hasn't released yet. Danny Boyle even said it at the Golden Globes on Sunday night. He said that the cast and crew are going to go for the release of it in India this week. so how can you say it didn't work when it hasn't released yet. You need to get your facts straight before you go on making assumptions like that.

  • India is only dangerous to Indians lol

    Really

  • never go to india ever? its sad to see that people think the WHOLE of india is like that...yes many parts are, but many parts of india are also so modernized and safe to go to

  • he was kidding u idiot

  • actually alpha, ur the idiot..cause he clearly wasn't, some white people are so ignorant about 3rd world countries and they think the WHOLE country is like that..and he was one of them

actually even some canadian-born brown people think the whole of a 3rd world country is in deep poverty

  • Exactly, I have been to India, parts of Mumbay is just like the movie shows us, dirty and full of slums. But, India is improving very fast. I have seen so many cranes spinning in the city. Skycrapers spring up.I wish poor people will benefit from this developement.

    Cheers
