  • Do you think it would produce significant cooling for a Core i5 750 clocked to 3.5 GHz?

  • Great review mate. Very detailed.

  • fits comfortably in my coolermaster haf 922, cools intel i5 2500k at 4.5ghz when stress testing: max temps ara around 50*C

    ITS A FUCKING BEAST!!

  • @TechNewsWeeklyMMXI Hmm...I am using a i5 2500k with NZXT Phantom at 4.5 Ghz and get 84C at stress test. Using Noctua NH-D14

  • @vampire5003 i get max 50-60C with speed at 4.5GHz on all cores. check ur voltage

  • @vampire5003 What voltage did you set on i5 2500k ?

I got one thats why im asking.

  • @Metalicalypse 1.350

  • @vampire5003 I see, if youve O.C your cpu according to a tutorial video try to reduce the voltage and test again. if it pass the test reduce again till you get a good end.

  • i have this in my system its fucking amazing, and huge, and yes its very quiet. just make sure you have a big box to fit her, i had an internal fan on my box and was hitting the NocTua because it was so big

  • Your video is very helpful.

  • for all those asking about compatibility go to the noctua's site. the have a large listing of RAM and Mobo compatibility

  • does it fin on the am3+ socket?

  • Fuck Coolermaster, had a V8 and the fan is making a high pitched humming, that does it, I'm buying this big bad motherfucker!

  • umm, will ths fit in my case? ive got a 120 mm fan on the rear of the case.

  • @bro589 how can we know if you dont even tell us which case you have??!

  • i have long heat sinks on my rams.

so how could i fit in this CPU cooler? if half of the ram slots are covered.

  • @djBC10000 Get low profile RAM cards

  • @djBC10000 just take off the heatsinks and have the fans set up, that they blow air on the ram so it will never get hot.

did that with my corsair vengeance :)

  • @TheFunniestDude

rams overheat? dont u mean CPU

  • @441meatloaf the cpu anyways never gets hot with the d-14

i was saying that the rams stay cool, even if the ram heatsikns are off

  • @TheFunniestDude

rams rarely overheat. Evenif you buy rams off the shelf especially overclocked ones that runs at 2400 - 2600 those dont even get hot.

Besides, a CPU cooler is meant for a cpu. It has nothing to do with rams.

NH D14 is not a superior cooler. A CPU will always overheat if you overclock it enough. Have you even seen people overclocking AMD Dragon?? For the best cooling solution, would be liquid nitrogen.

  • @441meatloaf did ou read the original question, that i actually answered? the question was, if there would be problems, taking off the heatsinks off the ram to fit the d-14.

secondly, i meant that it is good for air coolers and given the condition, that you dont overclock your cpu to 6 ghz. asking a question like that, i dont think this guy will do extreme world record 3dmark world record overclocking, so dont try to be a smartass

  • I've heard this will fit fine in a Haf 922. But I'm wondering if it would fit ok in my Haf 912 on a P67 sabertooth????

  • so Which is better C14 or D14 im doing a first build for gaming

  • @TechnoBuffalos

D14 is a lot better (C14 only got 1 fan)

  • @brollyyy oh sorry i ment 1 radiator

  • @TechnoBuffalos D14 wins , it is considered the best air cooler on the market, and i am soon buying it as well, the only other thing i would do would be water cooling, but not that pre made stuff by corsair or anything, where you buy the parts and install it yourself, but you have to be sure your buying good radiators and water blocks, but you can learn about that yourself

  • Comment. Is your 1080p video a bit screwed up? Looks very grainy.

Otherwise, thanks for the review! Awesome cooler.

  • WIll this fit in a AMD AM2 Motherboard?

  • @iMovingBomb Yes

  • it somehow fit in my tiny case o.O

  • Are the Noctua fans better than Cooler Master fans?

  • Austria --- so fu*king small, but so famous ...

  • what case is this, it may be the kind i have haha

  • I don't know.. Looks a little small to me.

  • @nefar73 LOL

  • None can compare with this beast!! Its really big but! Great review dude!

  • I couldn't hear how quiet it was...because mine's too loud...

  • need instructions for the included horse

  • does it work to 1155?

  • Will this fit in a Nox Coolbay Side Window? Thanks for answering.

  • Will it fit into the NZXT Phantom?

  • will this fit with 1155 motherboard and 1155 cpu ? answer please :)

  • @MsHbX It fits all new Intel sockets, not sure about your mobo though. Check Noctua's page for compability :)

  • @TehAndrewRyan thanks, :D

  • @MsHbX lga 1156 mounting holes are exactly the same as lga 1155 mounting holes. so any 1156 cooler will work

  • This or Cooler Master v10?

  • @NikacXMKD This will cool your CPU better but the v10 also does your ram, personally i would go with this one (it is also cheaper) or possible the v6GT (even cheaper than this one). I dont think that RAM really needs the cooling.

  • @NikacXMKD

This. The NH-D14 is currently the best air cooler on the market.

  • Nickle platted actually

  • how much did you stressed out the CPU and how much fans do you have in your PC case???

  • all the reports i have heard so far say this is the best air cooler to get and at 65-70.00 here in uk wish i had got this instead of the h50 water cooler. will upgrade to the noctua in a couple of weeks

  • i don't know what cooler get to my future buldozer/5!.

    noctua dh-14

    thermaltake silver arrow

    therlmaltake archon

    thermaltake frio

    cooler master v6 gt

  • I am wondering if I should take this or the Corsair H70. I have a Phenom II X2 BE but its unlocked to a Phenom II X4 and I plan to run it at 4 GHz.

  • and BTW Pcwizkid whats your casing?

  • any1 know the dimensions of this in inches?

    thanks

  • @ehcastro3 Ever heard about a little thing called a converter? Google centimeter to inch and you will find hundreds of them. Dont be lazy just do it

  • I've heard many good things about this product (MANY), but i have one question.

Like most people, my Desktop is standing up rather than sitting down. I fear the weight and size of it might warp the motherboard because it's top heavy, so is this a safe option?

If this is going to be too heavy, do you have any other suggestions for an air cooler? I'm looking for something between £40-75 that is quiet, efficient, and which can hang off the side of a vertical motherboard.

  • @Thezeronumber 900grams is the weight from what i have heard, honestly think you would be fine with this

  • Do you have to take the motherboard out to install the backplate?

  • Which will cool a Intel Core i7 920 D0 overclocked @4Ghz on an Asus P6T motherboard? CM v10,v8 or Noctua NH-d14?

  • Quick question, as the internet doesn't seem to agree!

I have an Asus M4A78LT-M and Phenom II X6 (Socket AM3). Will I need to remove the motherboard to fit this? A few places say no I won't as this attaches to the standard AMD backplate...........I'm perfectly happy spending this sort of cash on a cooler, if the mb could stay in place, I'd be even happier!

  • Would this fit a NZXT Tempest case?

  • this fan is very loud especially on high fan levels right?

    i think i rather get a scythe mugen 2 rev. b it's a lot quieter i think and a lot cheaper 2.

  • @HenkSpankK due to its size it's silent most of the time with proper cooling. you will almost never encounter a situation where this beast hits the 100%

  • Hello There! Would it fit a Cooler Master Storm Scout case?! :D Thanks and Very Nice Review as always!

  • I didn't see anyone uses the thermal compound that comes with the cooler?

Does anyone uses thermal compound at all?

  • cooler msater v10 or noctua nh dp-14??

  • @dani41396 noctua...

  • @dani41396 noctua nh dp-14 :)

  • Did you need to remove the top 140mm exhaust fan from the scout to fit this in?

If so, do you think a Scythe Slip Stream would fit in instead?

  • corsair H50 is cooler

  • @wololo10 Corsair H50 does not cool as well as this.

  • @venomireland it does with 2 fans =)

  • @wololo10 No... actualy this has realy low airflow fans put sime stronger fans on this too it will be cooler and silent...er

  • does the fans get enough power if you plug both into the fan header?

btw, do you know if this cooler will fit in a haf 912+?

  • please help me choose between the coolermaster hyper 212 plus for 30 euros or the scythe mugen 2 rev b for 50 euro?

  • Will this fit in Lancool PC-K7B?

    Dimensions: Dimensions(L x W x H) 19.25" x 8.27" x 18.11"

  • Do you think this will fit in an ATX Midtower with the PowerSupply on the top with a micro atx mobo?

  • Fantastic cooler ... but the colors, brown and beige, will really tick of the modders.

  • 4:14 use a better graphic card cooler so that we actually can hear the Noctua...

  • Can any one answer these PLEASE?

What is the best good-looking, good cooling performance, with window ATX good quality case that would fit this? Not too expensive, MAX $100.

How do you control this with a fan controller? It doesn't use pulse-width modulation however all controllers that I have seen so far only use PWM for the fan???

Will asus motherboards be able to control this fan via linear-voltage regulation since it's a 3-pin fan or do you need some PWM to 3-pin converter thing?

  • @VidsEpic Have a look at the HAF 922, I have it and it's not too bad, you can get a windowed edition but you'll have to look for it.

  • I want to get this cooler but I'm afraid it won't fit in my case (CM Elite 330). It says the width of my case is at 185mm (7.28in).

The spec height dimension of the nh-d14 is 160mm (6.29 in), but I have to account for the motherboard spacers.

  • will this fit in a corsair 800D

  • Will this fit a Thermaltake Element G Case?

  • I think Scythe also have great coolers !!

  • super cooler :) :X

  • i love his voice, and iam not gay ;D

  • 2 questions: will it fit in a NZXT tempest- should i get another case if this one is too small (could you recommend a case with the same price range.

what temperature will i see with a 1050t overclocked to 4ghz with 1.35v?

    thanks reply soon.

  • cool !

  • Just got mine :D

    I love it

  • can i install it on ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 with GSkill RIP JAW RAM installed

  • Great review, thanks alot.

I especially love how you use the CM Storm Scout as i am planning to use this case for my pc i'm building later in the year. Whenever the reviews say that the cooler is large and may not fit smaller cases i always worry so having you actually install this in the scout saved me alot of other research.

One other Question, this wont fit Corsair Dominator ram underneath it will it?

  • if you drop from 4ghz to 2.94 ghz from 70*c what will be the next temp for the 2.94ghz?

  • What about high profile RAM modules? Can the cooler be installed with them? (those you're using are low profile, I think)

  • now I know it will ft my case I have the same case.

    cooler master scout.

  • so do you buy the coolers or you get them for free?

  • can i fit this in a cm 690 ii advance case???

  • Do you know if that big heatsink fits into a CM Storm Sniper Black case? Does it need lapping? Thanks.

  • @orestesdd

I would assume yes as the sniper is larger than the scout.

Always worth actually checking though =)

  • @SSc0ut I will double check before buying. I need to make sure that this type of cooler does not interfere with tall DDR3 memory sticks, for I have read somewhere that some of these bulky coolers do not allow to accommodate tall RAM sticks. Thanks for your response.

  • I'm very tempted to get this cooler to tame my i7 930 that seems to run exceptionally hot, but I'm somewhat concerned about the weight. I tend to cart my computer around with me on a weekly basis [in the car - more hassle but cheaper and more powerful than a laptop] the weight of this cooler wouldn't damage the motherboard or CPU socket would it ... ?

  • THATS THE EXACT SETUP IM HOPING TO GET :)

  • I kind of wish u would test all the coolers like this on a i7 system because there the hottest heat wise out right now and if it can keep a i7 cool it can cool anything lol, u sound kind of tired in the video anyways good review

  • Hi, I'm building my first PC and trying to decide between this NocTua NH-D14 and the Titan Fenrir Special edition for a Core i7 980X with GA-X58A-UD9 motherboard. Do you know which of these is best choice? Thanks

  • @starchamberS The Noctua is the best.. This is your first PC and you're using a 980X why do you need that for?

  • @Alex148710 Well, hope it will cut rendering / editing times, but the 960 looks just as good... Picked up my Noctua cooler yesterday, looks supreme quality. only concern is it's weight.. So hope any of the Gigabyte ultra durable motherboards should handle it..

  • @starchamberS Rendering/editing I think you would be fine with a Phenom II X6.. and you will save a thousand or more (look at my system on my channel) it's great for rendering..

  • I'm going to get an I7-930, and overclock it to about 4.0, and I can't decide what cpu cooler to use, its either this or the Corsair H50. I don't know which would perform better

  • @k1llgor3 The Noctua outperforms the H50 by 5-10 degrees...

  • @Alex148710 well, my choice is settled, thanks, I was about to buy the H50 too. I'll be able to fit fine too, since I'm getting the HAF-X.

  • You installed it backwards to cover your ram slots? Why not just remove your back fan and have it expel air? Or are you using the back of your case to pull air in? Some people here might think that you have to install it that way to cover your ram, though it's designed not to.

  • @overlordfrink Not sure I understand your point. Air is expelled from the back always, I covered the ram because I can and have no need to show the ram, the AIR is flowing in a straight line from one side to the outside. having a rear fan makes the air leave quicker keeping to inside cooler. Its installed properly as specified in the manual and also as other testers have done it.

  • @PCWizKid Will this fit in my lian li pc-x1000 case might buy it but not sure it will fit PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Was it a pain to actually remove and reinstall the middle fan after screwing in the heatsink? I have the same case and a Prolimatech Megahalems, and it's a pain to install a dual-fan setup since there's not much room to work with, at least for my hands. And I'm guessing tall memory heatsinks are out the window? Would it interfere with the fan that is over the RAM?

  • I just bought CM 690 II Advanced case. I think it will fit in there but I'm not sure. So does it fit?

And do you have to take off you mobo when installing that beast?

  • MMM, i going to get a phenom turbhan II x6 , i don't know what cpu cooler chose, the cooler master v8, v10, this o the eco , help me!!! my motherboard are a MSI 790FX-GD70 SocketAM3/140W CPU/AMD 790FX CrossFire/4DDR3-2133(OC)/ATI Quad/Triple CrossFireX/2GbE/R/A/1394/ATX Motherboard with G.Skill 2000mhz if dont work the motherboard i have to second chose the MSI AM3 NVIDIA nForce ATX AMD Motherboard NF980-G65 help me please :D!

  • Got this cooler today as I bought an i7 930 a Gigabyte X58A UD3R and 6gb of Corsair XMS3 1333 mhz Tripple Channel. It does NOT block any Ram Slots even thou its huge. You might want to worry as it doesnt fit on most MSi Boards because of Chipset cooling. Btw Gigabyte ftw

  • Will G-Skill Ripjaws get blocked?

  • @TheCanadian316 Nope

  • Will it block the Dominator GT?

  • @kylerk86 Yes: have a look at the noctua website: there is a compatibility page

  • If i use this on the ASUS p6x58d Premium board will it block any of the ram slots?

Or the ASUS rampage 3 extreme? I also plan on getting a HD 5970 Video Card. Will those 2 Products be 2 big for either of those MOBO`s?

  • Will it fit in a NZXT Tempest Evo?

  • I just ordered the NocTuca to go along with an Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor I'm getting. Looks like this fan will definitely do what I need it to do.

  • Is this better than a Corsair H50 ?????

  • @KickMoreAss yes

  • I wonder, will it fit in a P183. And...Will it not be in the way for the corsair dominators that I have? Can I remove the outer fan, or can i screw of the heat-thingies on the dominators? Or...will it just not work?

  • The brown and beige fans they used on these coolers are quite possibly the most hideous things I have ever seen. They remind me of like an old librarian and the smell of cats and pee.

  • god 51Celcius my CPU is on 100Celcius right now

  • Would this fit in an Antec 300 case? Could i damage my motherboard and RAM? It looks freaking huge. But overclocked to 4GHz and max load on 52c is amazing.

  • does it block anything on the mobo?

  • This thing looks like it would eat my Dark Knight, then devour the CPU, RAM, and motherboard.

  • This thing looks HUGE. looked like it took up all 4 slots of ram. thats what im afraid of if i end up buying this cooler. my current cooler doesnt look anywhere as big as the noctua and its already barely blocking 1 ram slot.

  • @mab4110 Thats right, you would need to install, low profile memory which doesnt touch the cooler. However, you can also detach easily the fan on the side which is on top of the RAM, and insert your memory hassle free, then clip the fan back on fast. I did that.

  • @PCWizKid So, OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Reaper x2 would fit under this?

    Thanks

  • this fits in my haf 922 just abit of a struggle plugging in the fan unless you have really small hands

  • @TheUnchartable yes it will.

  • @PCWizKid Will this cooler fit in the NOX Coolbay Devil Edition case?

  • No offense ( or is it with 'c'?) but V10 is totally waste of money. It looks very cool monster cooler but still waste of money.

  • Would this fit in a Silver stone Raven rvo1??

  • Can u put another 120mm fan on this cooler?

  • I see that the fan is directly over the ram. WILL tall ram headsinks fit under the fan?

  • does this cooler outperform the v8 or v10?

  • from my experience: yes!

it just doesn't cool the ram as the v10 does

  • @v0ks1 But the V10 blows the warm CPU-Cooling air over the RAM, and when you got a fastr CPU (i7 920 above 4 GHZ) the RAM will be hotter, especially on low fanspeed

  • whit Zalman CNPS9500 i have 30º idle and 45 full load whit this processor ;);)

  • Oh well there goes my plan to buy this with my massive HyperX memory dims :(

  • do i need thermal compound ?

  • Yes for any CPU Cooler you should always use Thermal paste.

  • @PCWizKid Yes but this cooler includes some pretty good paste.. It's up there with TX-3

  • And this comes with what is arguably the very best thermal compound out there. NT-H1, it has very low temps, and unlike arctic thermal 5 it has no burn-in time. It also doesn't conduct electricity, making it safer for your computer.

  • awesome cooler but no good for mine it so big it will get in the way of my ram

  • Hi what is the difference between this cooler and the noctua NH-U12P ?

  • love that cooler going to get it better than my super 7 pro

  • how would it treat a i5 750/i7 860/i7 920 for overclocking?

  • @nikosyv

This is the best air cooler you can get atm

the i7 chips are especially hot, iirc the 9xx line is the hottest (anyone know)?

  • very good:D im getting this next week with a brand new amd 965

  • Comment removed

  • nice but i dont see a need for a big cooler like this could you please try to review cheaper coolers under $50

  • awesome cooler.. sure its the best of air cooling... but the only thing that concerns me is the stress it may put on the mobo... im sure the bracket is designed well but it still seems a bit sketchy

  • load temps are similar to stock cooler with stock clocks.

  • this + an i5 750, vs a i7 with stock?

  • @nikosyv

    athlon 64x2 2.1ghz +this cooler

  • what case is that?

  • i have gskill ripjaws ram and im worried of getting a cpu cooler because it will bo too low and the ripjaws heatsink will be too tall to fit under. (lga1156)

  • yea you will need to get new ram or chose another cooler i recomend the nh-u9b or nh-u12p the 12 is a bit bigger but my dominator ram which is also quite tall fits in with the 9b with about 1cm clearance and the fan on the heat sink helps the ram cool aswell

  • hi people, in his video he uses a piece of software to put your comouter at full load, and i would like 2 no whats its called. thanks

  • prime95
