@vampire5003 I see, if youve O.C your cpu according to a tutorial video try to reduce the voltage and test again. if it pass the test reduce again till you get a good end.
i have this in my system its fucking amazing, and huge, and yes its very quiet. just make sure you have a big box to fit her, i had an internal fan on my box and was hitting the NocTua because it was so big
rams rarely overheat. Evenif you buy rams off the shelf especially overclocked ones that runs at 2400 - 2600 those dont even get hot.
Besides, a CPU cooler is meant for a cpu. It has nothing to do with rams.
NH D14 is not a superior cooler. A CPU will always overheat if you overclock it enough. Have you even seen people overclocking AMD Dragon?? For the best cooling solution, would be liquid nitrogen.
@441meatloaf did ou read the original question, that i actually answered? the question was, if there would be problems, taking off the heatsinks off the ram to fit the d-14.
secondly, i meant that it is good for air coolers and given the condition, that you dont overclock your cpu to 6 ghz. asking a question like that, i dont think this guy will do extreme world record 3dmark world record overclocking, so dont try to be a smartass
@TechnoBuffalos D14 wins , it is considered the best air cooler on the market, and i am soon buying it as well, the only other thing i would do would be water cooling, but not that pre made stuff by corsair or anything, where you buy the parts and install it yourself, but you have to be sure your buying good radiators and water blocks, but you can learn about that yourself
@NikacXMKD This will cool your CPU better but the v10 also does your ram, personally i would go with this one (it is also cheaper) or possible the v6GT (even cheaper than this one). I dont think that RAM really needs the cooling.
all the reports i have heard so far say this is the best air cooler to get and at 65-70.00 here in uk wish i had got this instead of the h50 water cooler. will upgrade to the noctua in a couple of weeks

A few places say no I won't as this attaches to the standard AMD backplate...........I'm perfectly happy spending this sort of cash on a cooler, if the mb could stay in place, I'd be even happier!
@HenkSpankK due to its size it's silent most of the time with proper cooling. you will almost never encounter a situation where this beast hits the 100%
What is the best good-looking, good cooling performance, with window ATX good quality case that would fit this? Not too expensive, MAX $100.
How do you control this with a fan controller? It doesn't use pulse-width modulation however all controllers that I have seen so far only use PWM for the fan???
Will asus motherboards be able to control this fan via linear-voltage regulation since it's a 3-pin fan or do you need some PWM to 3-pin converter thing?
I especially love how you use the CM Storm Scout as i am planning to use this case for my pc i'm building later in the year. Whenever the reviews say that the cooler is large and may not fit smaller cases i always worry so having you actually install this in the scout saved me alot of other research.
One other Question, this wont fit Corsair Dominator ram underneath it will it?
@SSc0ut I will double check before buying. I need to make sure that this type of cooler does not interfere with tall DDR3 memory sticks, for I have read somewhere that some of these bulky coolers do not allow to accommodate tall RAM sticks. Thanks for your response.

Hi, I'm building my first PC and trying to decide between this NocTua NH-D14 and the Titan Fenrir Special edition for a Core i7 980X with GA-X58A-UD9 motherboard. Do you know which of these is best choice? Thanks
@Alex148710 Well, hope it will cut rendering / editing times, but the 960 looks just as good... Picked up my Noctua cooler yesterday, looks supreme quality. only concern is it's weight.. So hope any of the Gigabyte ultra durable motherboards should handle it..
@starchamberS Rendering/editing I think you would be fine with a Phenom II X6.. and you will save a thousand or more (look at my system on my channel) it's great for rendering..
I'm going to get an I7-930, and overclock it to about 4.0, and I can't decide what cpu cooler to use, its either this or the Corsair H50. I don't know which would perform better
You installed it backwards to cover your ram slots? Why not just remove your back fan and have it expel air? Or are you using the back of your case to pull air in? Some people here might think that you have to install it that way to cover your ram, though it's designed not to.
@overlordfrink Not sure I understand your point. Air is expelled from the back always, I covered the ram because I can and have no need to show the ram, the AIR is flowing in a straight line from one side to the outside. having a rear fan makes the air leave quicker keeping to inside cooler. Its installed properly as specified in the manual and also as other testers have done it.
Was it a pain to actually remove and reinstall the middle fan after screwing in the heatsink? I have the same case and a Prolimatech Megahalems, and it's a pain to install a dual-fan setup since there's not much room to work with, at least for my hands. And I'm guessing tall memory heatsinks are out the window? Would it interfere with the fan that is over the RAM?

Got this cooler today as I bought an i7 930 a Gigabyte X58A UD3R and 6gb of Corsair XMS3 1333 mhz Tripple Channel. It does NOT block any Ram Slots even thou its huge. You might want to worry as it doesnt fit on most MSi Boards because of Chipset cooling. Btw Gigabyte ftw
I just ordered the NocTuca to go along with an Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor I'm getting. Looks like this fan will definitely do what I need it to do.
I wonder, will it fit in a P183. And...Will it not be in the way for the corsair dominators that I have? Can I remove the outer fan, or can i screw of the heat-thingies on the dominators? Or...will it just not work?
The brown and beige fans they used on these coolers are quite possibly the most hideous things I have ever seen. They remind me of like an old librarian and the smell of cats and pee.
Would this fit in an Antec 300 case? Could i damage my motherboard and RAM? It looks freaking huge. But overclocked to 4GHz and max load on 52c is amazing.
This thing looks HUGE. looked like it took up all 4 slots of ram. thats what im afraid of if i end up buying this cooler. my current cooler doesnt look anywhere as big as the noctua and its already barely blocking 1 ram slot.
@mab4110 Thats right, you would need to install, low profile memory which doesnt touch the cooler. However, you can also detach easily the fan on the side which is on top of the RAM, and insert your memory hassle free, then clip the fan back on fast. I did that.
@v0ks1 But the V10 blows the warm CPU-Cooling air over the RAM, and when you got a fastr CPU (i7 920 above 4 GHZ) the RAM will be hotter, especially on low fanspeed
And this comes with what is arguably the very best thermal compound out there. NT-H1, it has very low temps, and unlike arctic thermal 5 it has no burn-in time. It also doesn't conduct electricity, making it safer for your computer.
Check out how the noctua looks like in a haf 922 in my video just click my name to find it. I also show how to fit it witch corsair dominaters. Also put an extra Noctua fan on it.
awesome cooler.. sure its the best of air cooling... but the only thing that concerns me is the stress it may put on the mobo... im sure the bracket is designed well but it still seems a bit sketchy
i have gskill ripjaws ram and im worried of getting a cpu cooler because it will bo too low and the ripjaws heatsink will be too tall to fit under. (lga1156)
yea you will need to get new ram or chose another cooler i recomend the nh-u9b or nh-u12p the 12 is a bit bigger but my dominator ram which is also quite tall fits in with the 9b with about 1cm clearance and the fan on the heat sink helps the ram cool aswell
Check out how the noctua looks like in a haf 922 in my video just click my name to find it. I also show how to fit it witch corsair dominaters. Also put an extra Noctua fan on it.

If i use this on the ASUS p6x58d Premium board will it block any of the ram slots?
Or the ASUS rampage 3 extreme? I also plan on getting a HD 5970 Video Card. Will those 2 Products be 2 big for either of those MOBO`s?

Will it fit in a NZXT Tempest Evo?

I just ordered the NocTuca to go along with an Intel Core i7 Quad Core processor I'm getting. Looks like this fan will definitely do what I need it to do.

Is this better than a Corsair H50 ?????

@KickMoreAss yes
th1ckiCE 1 year ago
I wonder, will it fit in a P183. And...Will it not be in the way for the corsair dominators that I have? Can I remove the outer fan, or can i screw of the heat-thingies on the dominators? Or...will it just not work?

The brown and beige fans they used on these coolers are quite possibly the most hideous things I have ever seen. They remind me of like an old librarian and the smell of cats and pee.

Would this fit in an Antec 300 case? Could i damage my motherboard and RAM? It looks freaking huge. But overclocked to 4GHz and max load on 52c is amazing.
runescapeownyawe 1 year ago
does it block anything on the mobo?
bluesrike 1 year ago
This thing looks like it would eat my Dark Knight, then devour the CPU, RAM, and motherboard.
Pieisforsk8ers 1 year ago
This thing looks HUGE. looked like it took up all 4 slots of ram. thats what im afraid of if i end up buying this cooler. my current cooler doesnt look anywhere as big as the noctua and its already barely blocking 1 ram slot.
mab4110 1 year ago
@mab4110 Thats right, you would need to install, low profile memory which doesnt touch the cooler. However, you can also detach easily the fan on the side which is on top of the RAM, and insert your memory hassle free, then clip the fan back on fast. I did that.

@PCWizKid So, OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Reaper x2 would fit under this?
Thanks

EnthusiastGamer 1 year ago
No offense ( or is it with 'c'?) but V10 is totally waste of money. It looks very cool monster cooler but still waste of money.

Can u put another 120mm fan on this cooler?

I see that the fan is directly over the ram. WILL tall ram headsinks fit under the fan?

does this cooler outperform the v8 or v10?
josuejoejoe 2 years ago
from my experience: yes!
it just doesn't cool the ram as the v10 does
v0ks1 2 years ago
@v0ks1 But the V10 blows the warm CPU-Cooling air over the RAM, and when you got a fastr CPU (i7 920 above 4 GHZ) the RAM will be hotter, especially on low fanspeed

do i need thermal compound ?
Riggsen1 2 years ago
Yes for any CPU Cooler you should always use Thermal paste.
PCWizKid 2 years ago
@PCWizKid Yes but this cooler includes some pretty good paste.. It's up there with TX-3
daralinn 1 year ago
And this comes with what is arguably the very best thermal compound out there. NT-H1, it has very low temps, and unlike arctic thermal 5 it has no burn-in time. It also doesn't conduct electricity, making it safer for your computer.

nice but i dont see a need for a big cooler like this could you please try to review cheaper coolers under $50
blackendheart1s 2 years ago
awesome cooler.. sure its the best of air cooling... but the only thing that concerns me is the stress it may put on the mobo... im sure the bracket is designed well but it still seems a bit sketchy

i have gskill ripjaws ram and im worried of getting a cpu cooler because it will bo too low and the ripjaws heatsink will be too tall to fit under. (lga1156)
alampandatennisrack 2 years ago
yea you will need to get new ram or chose another cooler i recomend the nh-u9b or nh-u12p the 12 is a bit bigger but my dominator ram which is also quite tall fits in with the 9b with about 1cm clearance and the fan on the heat sink helps the ram cool aswell
